What Keeps Me Going

Monday, March 01, 2010

Our Monday challenge from one of my Sparkteams was to post a few small goals we have for the month as well as the top 5 things that keep me motivated. So here goes:

Goals for the month of March 2010:

1. Complete my Co-Leader duties for the Spring 2010 5% Challenge for the Lady Bugs timely

2. Add two to three days walking/jogging/running to my weekly cardio in addition to what I'm already doing

3. Blog every day, even if it's just to say hi and I'm still here emoticon

4. Add one more whole body or lower body strength training using my stability ball to my weekly workouts in addition to what I'm already doing

What keeps me motivated:

1. How much better I feel

2. Six children and five grandchildren

3. My husband's smile and look when he tells me how proud he is of me

4. How my clothes are getting looser

5. My SP friends

Now, with those goals and motivators I can't help but succeed.

Great goals! You are already going with the LadyBugs, the invites, welcomes, and keeping up with us all..you must be exhausted...but I'm on your team and will try hard not to let you and my fellow "Lady's" down...as for blogging daily..that was my Feb goal and is my March goal..missed it by one day in Feb so trying again in March...it's hard but doable!!!!

Love the enthusiasm and the efforts...March Madness has begun!!!

Thankful

Sunday, February 28, 2010

What better day than Sunday, to just be feeling thankful?

I've had quite a bit going on during the last six months or so, but today I was thinking through all of it there's been someone there saying or doing just the right thing when I needed it. God is always there for me and believe me he's been working overtime with me, but he has put so many good people in my path. Our church family, family, friends, and so many more.

Then, in January I decided it was time to take care of myself totally. Accidentally, I found Sparkpeople again and it's hard to put into words what the site and people I've met mean to me now. There are many of you that you have no idea how your blogs were just what I needed to read. Those of you who have left comments on my blogs and/or Sparkpage are really encouraging. Some of you have brought tears and many of you have made me laugh so hard, my husband questioned my sanity.

I look forward to my journey here and hope to meet many more of you as we all join together to get it right this time. Don't give up friends, we have each other, and together we can make it!

Loved this blog..it reflects what so many of us on here tend to do...back off a bit from Spark only to come back and there waiting are good friends, folks ready to come to blogs, participate and interact with you on teams, etc...it's good to find a site where you can call it your home away from home in a constructive and positive environment!!!!!

I'm grateful you are here, leading a team we are both members of, and having fun reading your blogs. In here, to care is to share and you do that in spades!!!

Happy Thursday!

Having a Really Good Day

Saturday, February 27, 2010

Okay, this morning started a little slow, slept a little later than I wanted but once I got up and moving (and I mean moving) it's improved continuously. I did my Wii this morning and then my strength exercises. Then after lunch and messing around the house some, I pulled out my Walk It Out DVD and man oh man. I went for an hour, yes an hour, and talk about a workout!

And now I was sitting here, reading email, Sparking, etc., and realized I've had an excellent day. And better yet, I feel terrific.

Now, when I'm having one of those other days when I'm thinking dear Lord help me get through this day, I can reread this blog and know that not every day will be like that. A little self pep talking.

Slow & Steady Wins the Race

Friday, February 26, 2010

I've now been Sparking 4 full weeks. In that time I've

Lost 10.6 lbs
Lost 2 inches off my waist
Lost 3 inches off my hips

Learned I can eat what I want, but in moderation
Learned I actually enjoy exercising
Learned I can't depend on the scale to be my mood indicator
Learned I can make changes no matter my age, it's never too late

I've got a long road ahead, but with the support of my wonderful husband and new Spark friends I know I can achieve a new lifestyle. One that's healthy and enjoyable. And best of all I won't have to wonder if I can ride the rides at the theme parks with my kids and grandkids.

Congratulations on the weight and inches lost. I'm about where you are, but have been doing this for 6 weeks. Isn't SparkPeople wonderful?! I just love the sense of community and the support/encouragement we get from/give to each other.

Good luck on your journey -- I wish you great success.

It Will Be OK

Monday, February 22, 2010

This was a rather challenging weekend. Since the first of the year I've been dealing with a job loss due to company selling. I've been actively looking and sending resumes out but no luck as of yet. I'd had a telephone interview week before last and was hoping to hear back this past week for a face-to-face, but alas no call. I went into pitty party mode for a while and was really tempted to give into my comfort food pizza and/or chocolate.

However, I didn't. I had a talk with myself and looked at the progress I've made thus far. This is the one area I have some control over at present and I AM succeeding. I'm actually enjoying workouts and looking forward to being able to get outside when the weather clears. I've already mapped out a route to walk - jog - run from my home.

I will have my chocolate and/or pizza, but it will be when I have it worked into my plan and not to comfort "my haven't got the call yet" mood.

So many of us on this site have and/or are dealing with more than just our healthy lifestyle change in respects to weight and activity. And these many other things seem to have a way of creeping into our healthy lifestyle efforts. So my mantra is going to be "Control what I can, Ask for help when I need it, and Don't beat myself up if I slip 'cause there's always going to be more hands reaching to help me up than keep me pushed down."

WOW, I feel better already.

"I will have my chocolate and/or pizza, but it will be when I have it worked into my plan and not to comfort "my haven't got the call yet" mood."

You go girl! THAT has to be the way we look at things, huh? I remember something from way back from a WW meeting---the leader said something to the effect of: It's not that I will NEVER have that__________, it's that I am not having it right now!" Fill in the blank. Your post made me think of that. You can have that pizza but by golly it WILL be on your terms!

Said a little prayer for you re your job. Hang in there!
