RECAP OF SPRING 5% CHALLENGE

Sunday, May 02, 2010

The numbers:

Down 15.3 lbs = 6.15%
Down 2 inches on waist
Down 2 inches on hips

Non-numbers:

Met some wonderful people. When reading the postings of my fellow Lady Bugs, I laughed, I cried, and I related with so many. We accomplished so much together and was there for each other to offer encouragement or to offer a hiney kick if needed. I wish continued success to all and hope many of us will be together on more challenges.

It's been a very long time since I enjoyed a team as much as the LadyBugs. In large part it certainly had to do with yours, Wildcards, and Norlana's leadership without doubt. But, you make a terrific point...this was a group of very special women, very different, but very caring and compassionate...I too loved reading the posts, the front pages and the blog commentaries...laughter, tears, and sheer joy...I was lucky indeed to have been a part of a group like the LadyBugs...and ten times better for it!

Hugs,
Nan

My oldest son called last night with info on his recent blood work. His vitamin D is in the sinkhole like mine and his younger sister's. So, like us, he's on a regiment of Vitamin D for three months and then retake. More concerning was the fact the doctor id him as being pre-diabetic. His dad's side of the family has numerous members with diabetes and my dad had it.

When he told me about this, I took the opportunity to tell him about SP. I told him about all the great trackers, recipes, and community. I'm hoping he will take time to look into the site and make use of it.

My son is married and the father of my three wonderful grandsons. He's way too young (turns 33 in May) to have to deal with major medical issues. I don't want him to follow me in not taking his health seriously until he's getting ready to turn 50.

SP has been a great site for me and I'm hoping to make it a family thing!

BUSY LAST FEW DAYS

Sunday, April 18, 2010

Not blogged for a few days and thought I better stop by and say hi and I'm still among the living. Spent Friday morning with my oldest daughter at the hospital. She had carpal tunnel surgery. All went well, talked to her today - has pain but is handling it.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday and even better new week.

A WOOHOO DAY

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

is what I had today. I decided this morning instead of repeating Week 4, I'd proceed on to W5D1. I DID IT! Totally great!!

Then since that evidently wasn't enough, hubby and I worked out in the flower bed weeding ALL afternoon. Whew, what a workout! Since eating healthier and being more active, my stamina is miles above what it's ever been. I like being able to work outside with hubby for extended amounts of time and not tiring out within 15 minutes. Good encouragement to continue!

Unusual For Me

Monday, April 12, 2010

I had a hard time getting to my minimum calories today. Usually not a problem for me, but today it took very little to fill my hunger. Had a good balance in my Carbs/Protien/Fat, but a little short on the calorie side. I'm sure this is just a temporary thing. emoticon Have a great Tuesday, tomorrow everybody!

It happens to me once in a while too. Especially the days that I eat salad. No harm in it.

That happens once and a while for me too. It will probably come up every now and again. I don't think it hurts if you go below once and awhile. I try not to since the lower range of my calorie range is lower than what Spark People thinks my BMR is. So, that wouldn't be good for my body if I did it a lot. emoticon

Great blog! Somewhere along the way the same thing happened to me. It was really nice. Turns out that the nutrient dense eating combined with the reduction in overall calories "shrunk" my stomach..the cravings and all. It was a good thing because as I lost weight, I also had to reduce the calorie range to continue losing. Took me forever to get where you are now...way to go!

You are doing great. I say if we are not hungry don't eat. But try hard to meet our minimum by changing what we eat. Good luck making the balance! emoticon
