God is so good. I had a great day today.

I made it through my W4D1 for the C25K. Did two 3 minute and two 5 minute run/jog intervals. I felt great when I got finished, sweating like a pig, but felt great.

Then this late afternoon my husband said he wanted to walk the route I'd mapped out by the house. He stopped smoking on April 1 and wants to start walking every day. So out we went for our walk. Averaged a little less than 19 minute mile. He had warned me before we left, he wasn't going to be Mr. Speedy but I was impressed with him.

And last but not least, food has went really well and water great. So a fantastic day. Thank you dear Lord for a wonderful day in my journey and time with my husband.

Isn't it the best feeling in the world to have a really wonderful day and be mindful enough to look back and acknowledge that. Brilliant blogging!

Are any of the rest of you like me? You start dwelling on "what ifs" and get yourself in a funk. I found myself doing this quite often the last couple of weeks. Thankfully though, I did some praying and looked at positives and I'm focusing more on the here and now.

When we start on the "what if" trail, it can make us miss what's going on right now. We get so focused on what we did or didn't do in the past, we lose out on the blessings we have right in front of us.

One of my "what ifs" was (notice I used was, because after this blog I'm not going to wonder on this anymore) why didn't I decide to get serious about getting healthy when I was younger? I don't know, I was concentrating on making a career and raising my now grown children. But a lady from my church (she's 85 years young) has given me a whole new perspective on my future years. She's active and can outwork many people less than half her age. Yes I've waited until I'm getting ready to turn fifty before getting serious about my health. But you know what? As long as God sees fit to bless me with several more years, I have the opportunity of making the most out of them in a healthier body.

I've decided to enjoy what I have now and not dwell on what I could have done. I've been able to enjoy several days last week and today working in the yard with my husband. As little as a year ago I would not have been able to do that. I would have been worn out in less than fifteen minutes. But I've been cutting, pulling, carrying, raking, and trimming for several hours at a time. Yes I get tired, but I feel good, I'm not winded and I'm enjoying the outdoors as well as time with my hubby.

So fellow Sparksters, forget about what you missed and concentrate on what you have. You may not be able to do it overnight, but when that "what if" starts creeping into your head, knock it back with a couple of positives that are going on right now. Pretty soon, the "what if" will be in the past and stay there where it belongs!

There are a lot of things that I have wondered why I didn't act on them sooner, but I am learning to trust God's timing!

Great blog Sharkar! This is a good reminder to all of us to be grateful for today and leave yesterday in the past, where we can learn from what we have done!

Keep up the great work!!!

Beautifully written blog about the "what ifs" that plague so many of us. Great advice in seizing the day, what is good, and looking at the present and forward to the future!

Well said. I agree. We can't change the ifs, or the yesterdays, but we can move forward today and tomorrow.

Did Pretty Good

Sunday, April 04, 2010

We had Easter breakfast at church this morning and then a family lunch. Total calories for the day just slightly over, but the breakdown of Carbs/Protein/Fat were out of whack. And energy level has been zapped today. Could have something to do with getting up at 5 a.m., but I think it had more to do with my food. Just re-emphasized to myself that my food choices do have a lot to do with my energy level.

Anyway, I enjoyed the fellowship and visiting and it has encouraged me to stick to the healthier eating. So, all in all, a good day.

Great blog. You brought up two things which I've noticed in myself..not enough sleep equals not enough energy and not enough "good food" means sluggish feelings. It's great you are looking in hindsight..everyone is different and once you can catch on to how your body reacts to will have a lot of success...and here u are...thinking, watching, being mindful without obsessing..that is your own personal prescription for success...Congrats!

this is a lifestyle change so you should allow yourself to eat at special holidays. If you did not you would not be able to stay on this path. so keep up the good work.

Well, got through today with shopping, going to birthday party, and readying food for tomorrow's Easter breakfast at church. Need to practice my song for tomorrow one more time and then off to bed.

Aside from daily life, I did get in my W3D3 of the C25K. Hey, weight a minute this is part of my healthy lifestyle so it is part of my daily life!!! Any way, I think I'm going to go ahead and go to Week 4 next week. I repeated both Week 1 and 2, but I'm recovering pretty quickly and I want to push myself a little bit. If it doesn't go well I can always repeat Week 3 then.

Weight creeped up a little this week (0.8 lbs), but it should rebound and then some next week. How's that for a positive attitude.

Well, to bed for me and hope all have a good Easter Sunday. God bless you!

Getting Ready for a Full Weekend

Friday, April 02, 2010

Busy weekend coming up, but really looking forward to it.

Saturday - Grandson's birthday party

Sunday - Sunrise service followed by breakfast at the church followed by regular services in which I'll be doing a solo followed by egg hunt followed by family pictures.

Whew, that made me tired just typing it. However, I have planned. The birthday party's not an issue because I'm not that big on cake and ice cream. For the Sunday breakfast, I found a couple of yummy recipes here on SP that I'm going to use. One is a fruit pizza and the other a breakfast casserole.

Weather is suppose to be beautiful, other than some rain Saturday morning. So I'm looking forward to a great weekend. Hope everyone else has a great Easter weekend.
