Weekend Calories...

Tuesday, April 30, 2013

I have never been much of a writer but here we go letís start blogging. My life is very crazy right now and Iím taking on allot of task all at once so keeping a healthy life style is hard to do. I try to keep working out and healthy eating in the front of my mind at all times but that doesnít always work. I find the hardest times are weekends. My boyfriend (Ian) works second shift during the week so I only get to see him Saturday and Sunday. I donít like cooking for myself so salads and shakes work great during the week but when Ian is home he likes go out to dinner or have me cook him very unhealthy homemade food. So Iím put on the forefront with all of these treats, triggering my cravings and making them seem unbearable at times. Who wants to eat a just a salad at the cheesecake factory? I want cheesecake!! So there lays my major challenge weekend calories. Itís time for me to start brain storming and start fighting my cravings, I will beat you weekend calories.

Thank you everyone for the support! Tacos are a favorite at my house as well I'm going to have to try your healthy version. :) He is aware how I feel I just donít think he realizes how hard some of us need to work to keep our bodies in shape. He is naturally thin and has never had to worry about weight or watching what he eats. But itís worth reminding him now and then!

It's definitely possible, and you can totally do it!

A while back I had an earnest talk with my fiance about my health - that I needed to eat better and I needed to take time for working out and I needed his support in that. Having that talk (it wasn't emotional or tense, very matter of fact really) helped a lot, so that we were on the same page. We do still go out to eat some times, and we do order in food at times too, but it's less often than it was, and where we go might be more carefully chosen. It let him know that I'm doing what I need to do, and I'm not trying to force it on him or insult his food choices or avoid him by spending time at the gym. Also I often will drive, thus avoiding the massive tasty fruity alcoholic drinks. As for cooking the comfort foods at home - I wonder how much tampering with recipes can be done?

i.e. one of our favorite comfort foods is tacos, so I use lean chicken or pork cooked in tomato paste or canned diced tomatos, chilli powder, cayenne red pepper, cumin, garlic, onion powder and pepper. chop up onions and dark green lettuce (romaine, green leaf or spinach), put some salsa or hot sauce on top and a measured portion of cheese. sooper tasty and decently rich in veggie matter. want more filling - add some rinsed canned black beans. I make this kind of dish probably once a week.
