Well, I took off at a decent enough pace..but couldn't maintain it very long....I jogged a lot....walked some....full speed ran a few short burst....and walked with extra long strides uphill (basically lunges..lol)...oh, and did one set of stairs...saw them, wanted to do them, but didnt wanna change my route; so i went down them just so I could come back up :) I tried to keep the route simple so I could remember exactly where I went to track it.
Here's the breakdown
well, 16 minute mile is better than 18, I guess....lol that's an average of 3.8 mph. that's just a normal walking pace...however, no way would I get the calorie burn as high if I was just walking!!! And I'm super happy with the calorie burn. I know I worked hard enough and don't really care about the pace as much today. I'll just reitterate that these hills are killer! lol
SparkPeople is weird! When I checked out their "fitness map" and tracked my run (uses google maps), and input my time, it told me that I only burned like 440 calories or something like that! Effers! lol (but, I guess this is what it'd be if I was just walking and not jogging and lunging) Then when I went to "add cardio" and put in my time for a >10 minute/mile, it said 663...Now, I always do the manual input and use what the heart rate monitor says, but I just wanted to see how much it differs....apparently, it differs A LOT!! I think for the fun of it, on my next run, I'm gonna grab John's Nike+ (he never calabrated it) and see what it says. I still trust my hrm more than anything else, but it's just interesting to see all the variations on the same workout!

I did my 45 min program on the elliptical and then jogged for a while (okay, a LONG while..lol) when it was done. I did much better on the program than I did monday. I took less recovery time; and only went slower than the program wanted me to at certain intervals, instead of having to slow down just because I couldn't keep up. That makes me proud. Maybe I just knew better what to expect this time...maybe I'm actually improving... either way, I'm happy about it! :) I didn't wanna completely die...just a little bit...haha and I think the reason I didnt burn as many extra calories the first day I did my own intervals with the weights was just because I wasn't dedicated to the times and intensities. Guess I'm not disciplined enough to do it on my own...fine by me since I've got a program that'll keep my in the right gear! :) And also, I think this is the FURTHEST I've ever ran!! I actually confused the elliptical! haha It stopped counting at 6.5 miles and I had to reset it...then went on for another 2 miles! Partially because I was aiming for a certain calorie burn, and partly to end on an even number of miles (or half mile)...and only a *little bit* to go longer than Allison ;) Mostly it was because I'm addicted once I start, and I feel guilty for not working out yesterday and not being as good as I should have with my eating...... anyway, here's the stats...
1140 calories (hrm total)
I downed a full bottle of water when I was done...and almost feel sick after doin it!...that's 33.8 oz....two pounds of water..LOL seems silly...but I think I probably sweated out that much...my face has salt dried on it from sweating...and looked like a cherry tomato hahaha...I always get really red faced when i work out though...i have a lot of red in my skin tone anyhow.

Today's workout was a doozy! I got started and was just going to run, but 5 minutes in (about 3/4 of mile - I wasn't very focused!) and decided to do the interval program on the elliptical that I used before. It's 45 minutes alternating high resistance and slower pace with faster paces at lower resistance. It's a pretty good program. I learned that I am NO WHERE near where I want to be physically!! I just wanted to get through it. I couldn't stay at the pace it wanted me to for the whole thing. I had to take more time to recover in between intervals. Seems that before I stopped using that program I was able to keep up a lot better. Anyway, after the program was over, I just kept running trying to keep an average of 6 mph.
800 calories burned (per heart rate monitor with corrected weight input)
5.75 miles (distance is never very far when I do the interval training)
And while I'm somewhat disappointed in my performance through the program, I can rejoice in the fact that I DID it....and that I burned 800 calories!! That's 300 more than my goal for today :)

I just spent the last hour or so reading through all of my old blogs (from when I sucessfully lost almost 30 lbs)...and it is truly motivating! Not just the story and seeing the progress, but blogging itself is motivating. When I wasn't writing, I wasn't losing! Taaa Daaa....there's a connection! lol :) So, expect to see a lot more from me in the near future! :)

OMG - I think I'm gonna keel over! I really pushed myself on the elliptical and added some little 2lb dumbbells for part of it...in intervals like I was climbing a ladder with them....when I thought I couldn't do anymore, I'd push out 15 more seconds..... and I did some high resistance intervals along with some faster paced intervals (7.5 mph - remember it's an elliptical not a treadmill ;) and I didn't sustain it for more than 2 minutes)...for a total of 50 minutes and 550 calories, and about 4.5 miles. I knew my distance would suck because I was having to take time to recover...but I reallllllly thought I'd burn more calories doing it that way. I guess I did burn about 50 more...but for those 50 calories, I'd rather not kill myself and just run/jog an extra 5 minutes...lol I dunno...seems there's gotta be some other benefit to pushing that hard......my max heart rate was 191 (101%), and my avg was 164 (86%)...but it says only 20% of my calorie burn was from fat....hummmmm
Oh, and just now, I was playing with my heart rate monitor watch...and I adjusted my weight so we'll see if it tells me I'm actually burning fewer calories tomorrow...and I had to set it to "hard" for the exercise level because I always seem to keep my heart rate too high for it to be in the "moderate" zone...anyway, I'm rambling...my fingers are just about the only part of my body I can move at the moment...haha
I haven't eaten anything today (baaaaaaaaaad girl - but I wanted to wait till i was done with my workout). Probably gonna go make a salad in a minute.
