Week 1 Rock It Challenge. Im so ready!!!Monday, July 02, 2012
Hey everyone, im Tammi and im so ready for this challenge. Just had a baby 4 months ago via c-sec and i swear this time around the weight just stayed(4th child) lol. I got back into my workout routine when i was 3 months post-partum by doing walking and using the gazelle. Now im ready to step it up. My plan for July is to do Jillian Michaels 30 day slim down with some tweeking of my own. Some of those exercising on NMTZ hurt my back and knees so i replaced that with Jackie Warner's ST and Kim Kardasians Fit In Your Jeans By Friday. So here is my plan for the week: ![]()

Hi fellow sparkers. I know its been so long that i've been active on spark but as my sp friends know i am pregnant and have been placed of modified bedrest. I really have been missing sp and most of all the good feeling i used to have everyday when i was able to get up and move these muscles. My musles are beginning to feel fatigued and i have no energy whatsoever. Also, my diet has not been the best even tho im pregnant and should be eating at my healthiest rite now :-)
I went to the doc yesterday and when i seen that they scale read 167.5 i was like "wtf, i still have quite a while to go" lol. I know that getting thru this pregnancy is my top priority but just sitting around this house not being able to do anything to get my blood pumping and my heart rate going is driving me nuts. I was wondering if ne one else has ever been in this situation and was able to do ne form of exercise at all. I have been trying to think of sumthin that i can do in a seated position (probably some form of ST that will help keep my muscles from being so fatigued). Ne thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance!!!

You really need to talk to your doctor and be sure the only restriction is being up. Ask if you can get a referral to a physical therapist to set you up with an exercise program. If not, try some of these things: If he/she clears you, try doing strength training while seated/ lying down. There are lots of websites that demonstrate them. Think of anything you can do while lying there. Get some small hand weights and do upper extremity work with those. Here are some links that might help- http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/22/f ashion/22Fitness.html?pagewante d=all http://www.storkne t.com/complications/bedrest/exe rcise.htm http://www.mam asonbedrest.com/tag/prenatal-ex ercise/ Again, just be sure to clear it with your doctor! I was on bedrest due to severe pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure) with my first pregnancy, until they determined that bedrest was not helping and induced my daughter's pre-term birth. I think the most important thing is that you follow doctor's orders, so you should talk to your dr about any type of "chair exercises" before you start doing them - depending on the reason for bedrest there my be things you can do, but there may be things you could do that would put you or the baby at risk. In my case, I tried to take the elevator back upstairs in the hospital when they took me down for tests in a wheelchair and left me there with no instructions on how to get back & I nearly passed out in the elevator....doing anything to bring up my heart rate and blood pressure could very well have killed me, which I didn't understand at that time. I'm not trying to scare you, I just wish I had understood how serious my situation was before I put myself at greater risk simply because I couldn't grasp that walking down the hall & standing in the elevator for a couple minutes was actually dangerous for me. I spent a total of 6 days in bed - which I realize is not very long at all - and I was extremely weak for another 3 or 4 once I was at home & back on my feet, but in the grand scheme of things, those days were insignificant, and I think even weeks of bedrest, while beyond frustrating, would also be insignificant in the long run - try to keep your mind occupied with cross words, tv, a book, get friends and family to keep you company, and know that before too long you will find yourself up and on your feet looking after your precious child :) In the plus column, my preemie was small, sleepy, and healthy & she turned 12 this year - so worth suffering through bedrest! Good luck to you :) Report Inappropriate Comment |

I feel for you. I was put on bed rest the last month of my pregnancy. Yuck! There is a SP team for chair exercising. 1) The Chair Exercising Network 2) You Tub-Chair Workouts. Also, Chair Dancing Fitness (SP team). Be sure to check w/your Doctor before doing any of these. But I find them heloful especially when my legs aren't able to work so good. Keep your chin up. Hey Girl, Look for some chair exercises. Where you do less reps. Like 6 to 8 reps of something. You can work your muscles with 2.5 pound ankle weights. Lifting your legs up and down and also using resistance bands. The lightest resistance as possible to do some arm girls. Arm circles are good and legs circles are good to. You do not want to strain yourself. You are going to want to keep all your exercises as low as possible. Water aerobics are good to, but you have to get the okay from your doctor. If he/she say do nothing, you do nothing. Have you looked into clean eating? Here are some benefits Copy paste this link in your box, and check it out. http://ezinearticles.co m/?Benefits-of-Clean-Eating?&id =6689191 This will help you and the baby. I Hope this information help you some. I'm praying for you and the baby. I wish you well on finding balance.. Report Inappropriate Comment |
