Well, I raced on Saturday with Chantelle. We BOTH beat our best times!! YAY!! And since I am in an older age bracket (40 - 44 yr. olds), I even won a trophy! My approximate time was around 22 minutes for the 2 mile run. I forgot to look at the black box on the ground (no official timers here) and so with taking Chantelle's time and figuring from there, we have an approximate time. Sigh... I won a 2nd place trophy and was quite happy about that! Chantelle is in a younger age bracket, so there are many more runners her age! I look forward to seeing her do better next year and think she really could win one with her determination. Her time was really good too!! Our next race is a 5k, and it is in two weeks!
Here is my Weekly Report... since I always take off on Sundays, and I also took off the day before the race AND did not do any strength training for the week, my estimated exercise time per day is kinda low!
Calories - 1715 (over)
Fat - 55
Carbs - 247
Protein - 69
Fiber - 27
Iron - 172
Exercise - 24 min (under)
The week of a race, you are not to do much strength training, so your body is not working to repair itself as you race... plus, the day before, I rest or maybe take a leisurely stroll. When you are young, you might could do more, but at 43, I have to be very careful!!

Chantelle and I will be running a race on Saturday... this time a 2 mile race. It sounds easy compared to the last one, BUT, we decided to RUN the WHOLE thing! I think this is her idea... LOL!! Yesterday we did a trial run, mapping out our route and timing it. We did okay... it took us 27 minutes, which isn't terrible, but isn't great either! Today I walked 2 miles slowly, and tomorrow we will run again and see if we can trim our time down a little more. We are really hooked on running races... crazy??? YES!!! LOL

Okay... so I walked and jogged... but I did 7 miles in 1:50:28 which is about 15.7 minutes each mile!!! At 43 years of age, I feel this is a big accomplishment for me!! WooHoo...
I lost over 20 pounds through the help of SparkPeople and learned to consistently exercise and build myself up. I also found a lot of friends that encouraged me along the whole way and I can never thank enough for all their support!! And one special friend, Chantelle (Chantelle15), crazy enough to do it with me, so that I was not alone!! It was also great to be able to walk/jog along with Twyla (T.MAESPARKLES) for a short ways too!
I think it would be awesome to do it in less than 90 minutes next year!!! My next goal!!!

Last week I did a personal 'No Excuse Challenge' to help get me back on track after a rough week of celebrations from July 4th, a baby shower, a visit from friends that live in Florida, church potluck, and many other things that knocked me off track and had made me to flounder!!! I am excited that the challenge did EXACTLY what I needed it to... I lost the 4 pounds I gained, I got excited about eating right and exercising again, and as of today... I started losing NEW WEIGHT! WooHoo... okay... well, so it is only a half pound, but I am also excited since today is also my 6 month 'anniversary' with Spark People!!! A special thanks to all my Spark friends that have encouraged me along the way!! You are all the greatest!!!

After reading HSMOM2four's Sparkpage... I decided to make a one week challenge of NO EXCUSES! Even though I have lost weight, and am exercising more regularly than I have ever in my life... It seems things come up every week that throw me off several days of the week. I go over on calories and/or fat, I miss a day of exercise here or there, etc... A baby shower, going out to eat, company, a potluck at church (all that happened just this past week!)... There are so many things that I have going on each week that I just can't seem to have one good full week!! SO... I have made my own challenge of a NO EXCUSE CHALLENGE for one week... then I will go from there and decide next week what I will do next! I have things planned this week too... but there will be no excuses...
I WILL make time to exercise - even if it means only for 10 minute segments throughout the day. (I loved how Twyla jogs in place as something is cooking on the stove.) If we make time to get on the computer, read a book, watch the news, etc... WE CAN EXERCISE... even if we are just doing exercises WHILE we watch the news!!
I WILL eat right and in my calorie AND fat range - even if I go out to eat!!! I can always look online to see nutrition facts for the restaurant, while eating lighter for other meals that day. I need to be eating more produce - at least 6 servings!!
I am excited about this week! Anyone else with me???
