As of today... I have been with Spark People 5 months...

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

I cannot explain to people what a blessing Spark People has been to me! Most people look at me like I am crazy when I talk about everything on Spark People!! I have learned SOOO much from all the information and tools. I have also learned a lot about myself: my eating habits and fitness level. I have met so many wonderful people from around the world! There is so much support and encouragement!!

I have lost 20.5 pounds since joining SP, and with 4.5 pounds lost before joining SP, I have now lost a total of 25 pounds since January 16th. I am excited with my weight loss results, and I look forward to losing the next 25 now!! SP has given me the confidence that I CAN... after so many failed attempts in years past! AND, I feel so much better since getting into exercise and balancing my diet!

Speed Bumps....

Thursday, June 11, 2009

Who doesn't hate a speed bump that you have to slow WAY DOWN to go over? It takes us more time to get where we are going... it doesn't seem to be good on the vehicle at any fast pace... AND, it is just a nuisance to any driver!

We seem to hit many of them along the dieting/exercise road of life!! We don't WANT to slow down... we don't WANT it to take more time to get where we are going... AND, we just don't want the nuisance along the way!!!

BUT, there are important reasons, though sometimes unknown to us, for us to have speed bumps! I have been struggling through allergies the past two weeks, and somehow, I do think it has turned into a cold. Tonight I have started having chills and just feel overall weak! Why now??? Why right in the middle of our CCLTT Jumping in June Challenge?? Why just before two prayer meetings at my home this week and starting Sunday, a week of special meetings at church???

Sometimes we know the reasons for speed bumps - safety in a populated area, to slow down drivers in an area they tend to speed wrecklessly... sometimes we don't... but for some reason, those in authority put them there for a reason.

Sometimes we get sick, because God knows we need to slow down and rest. Whether we know or not, it is no accident that we are sick... He knows... and will work all things out for good! So, here I am... just trusting that He knows what is best!!!

Jumping in June

Sunday, May 31, 2009

Well, I am really ready to jump into CCLTT's "Jumping in June" program.

My main problem is eating with friends and/or family.. If the food is around... I WILL STRUGGLE TO NOT EAT IT. My next problem is struggling with carbs and sweets... I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM!!! I have found that I feel better when I stay away from the sweets... sigh... why do the best things in life have to be bad for us?

With the help of SparkPeople and many friends, I have stayed more consistent with diet and exercise in the past 4 months than I have for probably 10 years... and that is encouraging!

I have a goal to drop 5 pounds this month during Jumping in June!

For our challenge today in Bootcamp...

Wednesday, May 20, 2009

For our challenge today in Bootcamp, we are to write a blog. I mentioned some things yesterday in my bl0g, but to get credit, I guess I need to write more... HA!

I was losing more weight than I thought I would when I started bootcamp, and was sooo excited! But, since the busy and eventful weekend, and with company over now, I am not losing at the moment. I am sticking to the exercises and the challenges, and keeping mostly under my calorie goals, BUT, my foods are more fatty and not as healthy... sigh... Plus my female hormones are a little mixed up at the moment and I am a little bloated. I am not discouraged at all, and know that life will get back into a somewhat normal order some day... until then, I will completely enjoy my parents, and just keep doing my best at exercise and eating healthier!! I don't want to rush this time with my family!

I still hope to lose a few more pounds before the end of bootcamp, but if not, I will probably stick to some of the routines and challenges! Eating 6 or more servings of fruits and veggies are really good for me!! Pushing myself a little more here or there, when I don't feel like it... has been so good! I think I will join every bootcamp in the future too!

WOW... I am behind in blogging...

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

I finished week 2 of bootcamp... it was tough with being away for the weekend, but I was able to do most of it, by using my sons' laptop at the motel, and jogging on the treadmill. Sunday was the only day I really couldn't get anything done, since we were running from early until VERY late... but I am sure I got plenty of exercise, since I ran most of the time!

I was also quite pleased that I did not gain weight over the weekend... WOW... with all the eating out and fancy good foods and desserts, I really controlled myself. THIS IS A FIRST for me... and I am SOOO excited! I brought fruits and cut veggies along, and they helped. AND I also chose good entrees at restaurants. (I ate a salad at Culvers, roast beef sandwich at Arby's, and chicken tender sandwich at Cracker Barrel.) At the the picnic I only sampled a few desserts from my boys... a bite of this one, and a bite of that one. At the reception, I did eat a dessert, but considering that was all for the weekend, I was rather excited!!

I thank those of you that prayed for me while I was gone... I am sure that helped!

Wonderful blog! What a great idea to plan ahead and have those fruits and veggies available. Our lives have to be normal and that will include desserts on occasion. Good news that you didn't gain weight too. And, congrats on the boot camp.

    You were practicing moderation!

Something that I am learning. It's okay to have a little or none at all, but not an amount that leads us to regret, guilt and feeling sick!! I have been choosing none at all lately and am amazed that before I would have felt guilty about that!! Guilty about not having dessert...good granny gravy...I had a mixed up mind!!

Anyway...I am so glad that your weekend went so well! You found a way to get in your evercise!!
