5 Motivators

Saturday, February 27, 2010

Here are some of the things that motivate me on this weight loss journey:

1) Grandchildren - I want to be around to play with them and enjoy watching them grow up. I only have 1 granddaughter right now.

2) Health - I am healthy on the whole, but my knees ache a lot and I am sure it is because of the weight. Just getting off the pounds will help that.

3) Mirror - being able to look in the mirror and not see the rolls of fat will be nice.

4) Clothes - I'm tired of having to buy plus size clothes. I have a closet full of nice clothes that I don't wear because I don't fit in them well.

5) Myself - I want to feel good about myself.

If you haven't already you might want to print these and put them where you will see them. If you struggle with mindlessly grabbing food out of the fridge, post them up there is a great, in your face reminder. You are on the right road!

Some good ideas!

Friday, February 26, 2010

I saw this posted on a thread and I thought it was good and decided to share.

Health:
1. Drink plenty of water.
2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a
beggar.
3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that
is manufactured in plants..
4. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy
5. Make time to pray .
6. Play more games
7. Read more books than you did in 2009.
8. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day
9. Sleep for 7 hours.
10. Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily. And while you walk, smile.

Personality:
11. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their
journey is all about.
12. Don't have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead
invest your energy in the positive present moment.
13. Don't over do. Keep your limits.
14. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
15. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip.
16. Dream more while you are awake
17. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need..
18. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner with His/her
mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
20. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
21. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
22. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems
are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra
class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
23. Smile and laugh more.
24. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree ...

Society:
25. Call your family often.
26. Each day give something good to others.
27. Forgive everyone for everything..
28. Spend time w/ people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6.
29. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
30. What other people think of you is none of your business.
31. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends
will. Stay in touch.

Life:
32. Do the right thing! Trust God for everything....
33. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
34. GOD heals everything. In HIS on time....
35. However good or bad a situation is, it will change..
36. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
37. The best is yet to come.. Wait and See...
38. When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it. You have work
to do....
39. Your Inner most is always happy. So, be happy.

Fun to see your comments - some didn't surprise me :-)
Where is your family cabin? I had kind of a love/hate affair with Mom & Dad's cabin near Kenosha Pass -- loved it, but not the "we HAVE to go ..." 2 of my sisters ended up with it after Dad passed away. I am kind of glad they are dealing with the inevitable problems instead of me. I have wonderful memories of times spent there, too.

We have much in common. I never go to the theater because of the cost and what you see on the previews. I was the one who recommended i to Pastor and bought tickets for 20. Probably won't go again unless they release another one. I really love the movies they have produced. Have a great day.

Slow but Sure

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

The last couple of weeks I have only lost .25 each week. I'm glad it was a loss (I haven't had a gain yet this year and I aim to keep it that way!), but am disappointed that the weight isn't coming off faster. I am sticking to my program of cardio, strength training and keeping within calorie range (have gone under a few times but not over) and drinking 64oz+ water.

So today, I decided I am going to try to do 2 walking DVD's back to back. I just finished doing the Express Walk DVD (30 min) , the Fat Blasting Walk DVD (40 min), then Oxycise 2 for 20 min. That is 90 minutes of exercise. I did strength exercises (bootcamp + the Quilt&Lose Team Strength Challenge exercises this morning).

Hopefully this will jumpstart the weight loss!

You are upping the exercise, are you sure you are eating enough calories. Sometimes that will slow a weight loss. Just a thought.

Perseverance will pay off! It will. If the scale doesn't move soon, tho, you might want to check the type of food you're eating. Some people do better with fewer carbs, others do better with less protein. We're all different and sometimes cal in/cal out needs some tweaking.

Wow you really did great today. I too haven't been losing much and I agree with Susie about getting enough calories. I know that has been my problem several different days. It seems strange but if you don't get enough your body goes into the starvation mode. Crazy but true.
Keep up the good work, you are doing really good.

Hi Carrie! Just a thought -- sometimes increasing your calorie count just a bit (but with healthy foods) can jump start you losing again. If you're staying at the low end of your calorie range, you might try adding 100 calories or so a day for a week, and see what happens. I know, it sounds wacky -- but I've seen it help. God bless and encourage you!!

New Pedometer!

Monday, February 15, 2010

emoticon, I got my new pedometer on Saturday and wore it yesterday. I reached 10,000 steps and then some! I did 11,211 steps!!! Walking on the treadmill for 60 minutes and then walking in WalMart sure helped!

Well, time to do some walking emoticon
