Tuesday - Friday

Friday, October 14, 2011

Tuesday,
Since I didn't have the baby anymore, I was able to go to the gym and get a last chance workout in. It paid off and I lost 3 lbs at TOPS weigh-in !!

Wednesday,
I was only able to walk on the treadmill in the afternoon. Our car was finally ready to pick up from the shop. I wasn't able to go get until after the kids left at 6:00. By the time I picked it up, got home, fixed supper then cleaned up it was too late to go to the gym.

Thursday,
This was a sad day. emoticon It was the last day for 2 kids I have had for 3 years. They are moving out of town. The mom promised to stop in and visit sometimes (grandparents live in Castle Rock emoticon)

I had a good workout with my trainer. She challenged me to get to 219 by next Thursday. So, I have my work cut for me. I just hope I don't psyche myself out. I have never had 2 weeks straight where I had big losses. She liked how I drank 16 oz every time I went into the kitchen to munch on Monday. So, I am going to continue trying to do that. (Boy will I be "sloshing" emoticon).

Fri.
Day OFF!! I slept in - had a leisurely breakfast. Then I went to the gym and did a 2 hour strength and cardio workout. When I got home, I vacuumed the whole house.
I also did 3 loads of laundry - daycare blankets.
Then I started working on cleaning out and organizing pantry--lots of lifting and bending = more exercise emoticon. One box I went through were old canning jars my mom had displayed in her kitchen. I found a jar labeled that my grandmother had bought it in 1936 - the year she was married.

Now tonight I am finally relaxing and sparking!

Try drinking some green tea - at least two cups a day - preferably with meals. That will help speed up your metabolism for 2 hours after you drink it! WTG - You can make this week's goal, I just know it! I'm working on getting there, too.

You did great!!! and you CAN lose two weeks in a row, I know you can! emoticon

Hard to say goodbye to kids you have had that long... send them a post card from time to time--they will be missing you too! emoticon

I need to take a page from YOUR book and stay busier. I am at Gma's two days a week and generally bake or just sit. She is at the point now where she doesn't do much and it makes her feel guilty. BUT her cupboards need cleaned and the shelves up high need dusted. I need to just do them and I bet I could at least get her talking about good memories while I do it...

AND drink a glass of water every time I head to her kitchen for another cookie/muffin!! I do ok at home but her house I cook more and eat more...

Rough Day

Monday, October 10, 2011

I started the day pretty rough. I go an e-mail from a client stating she wasn't bringing her baby anymore. We had a miscommunication on Friday - I apologized. I spent the morning working an my grandson's quilt. I listened to Drive By Theology and a Dennis Jernigan CD. All the while I was praying and trusting in God's sovereignty.

I really wanted to raid the cupboards, but whenever I went into the kitchen I drank 16 oz of water instead.

This afternoon I walked on the treadmill for an hour, then went to the gym with my daughter for another hour workout.

I am doing better tonight. I know God is in control and I did what I could.

I have been having days like that this week. Seems like extra stress I want to eat extra. When things are going well, I don't seem to think about food so much. Hope the week got better for you! emoticon

You are an inspiration to me Carrie. You are right, God is in control and sometimes when we have done what we can do, all we can do then is just stand and let God handle it. God makes ways when there are not ways. He sees from a different perspective than we can. God bless you my sister and friend. Many prayers and blessings and hugs, Shirley

Hey Carrie, I am so thankfull that you went to the Lord for comfort and not to the cupboard filled with food. You chose to focus on His grace to be sufficient enough for you. Through the disappointment and feeling bad about what happened, you were able to make the right choices. Peace to you Carrie.

Ohhhh... I'm sorry about the baby. That's sad. But you're right - as long as you know you did what you needed to do to "fix" things, the rest is out of your hands. I know that's not an easy pill to swallow though... I am sorry. I'm also PROUD of the way you handled it! That was WONDERFUL!!! emoticon

I have perceived through reading your blogs that you have a soft heart, which is a wonderful thing, but I know how much harder it would then be to let eating be your comfort, so doubly good for you in how you chose to handle it! emoticon

Sounds like you took a bad situation and let it move you closer to God, and did not turn to unhealthy choices ... So let's call it a successful day.
I'm sorry for the client issue. Sounds like you have done what you could, and will have to trust that God will somehow use it for good. I pray He will grant you His peace tonight and in the days ahead!

Back in the Saddle

Sunday, October 09, 2011

I slept for 12 hours last night. I sure did need it. I feel so much better today. I went to the gym and did a 128 minute workout (sure wish I could add those extra 8 minutes for the Cloverleaf team!). I worked on a couple of blocks for my baby grandson's quilt - he should make his appearance any day now!

Now to sit and relax, cross stitch and watch The Amazing Race.

Snow, Deer & Quilting

Sunday, October 09, 2011

I woke up this morning to snow and no power. My husband got the camp stove and we heated up water for tea and oatmeal. While we were eating 9 deer came walking by our back fence.

The power came on a couple of hours later. My son and his family came over, because I was going to teach my daughter-in-law how to quilt. It was fun teaching her. She is making a medallion quilt. The center was a eight-pointed star and then we will be doing different borders--a four square checked, a ribbon, and a "mountain" chain.

I put a crock pot of turkey chili on this morning and made cornbread for church. We are starting to have house church. We are having meals and meeting in homes. We are a very small church of about 20 people.

I was going to go to the gym this morning, but because of the snow and no power I didn't therefore I didn't get any exercise it today. I did stay within my calorie range. I am feeling better and am ready to get back into a good exercise routine.

Our scale also broke today, so I need to get a new one.

Love your pictures! Living in the country in Far East Texas, we are still running our air conditioners. Need rain so bad....hope to get some soon.

Wish I was there for the quilting lesson. Plan to get brave & try a wallhanging one of these days (before a quilt).

My country church is so small if we had 20 we would consider it a crowd! Home church sounds nice. Good luck with it.

Beautiful pictures, but I must admit, I really am not looking forward to the snow again. We really didn't have a summer and fall is here and winter is just around the corner.

I'm glad to hear you have started a home church. if we ever get moved back into the country, we will probably start up home bible study again, but the home we live in now is too small and there is no place to park.

Teaching your DIL to quilt is such a blessing for both you and her. You'll have to post a picture of her first quilt when she gets it done.

Keep warm and thank you for sharing.

Debbie

WOW! When it rains it pours! Or snows... House church sounds fun! MY congregation started out in a house... my friends, Al & Sally started it in their home 35 years ago, and then it blossomed! I wish I had been there back in the early days! But it sounds like you guys are going the other way... and now... as usual... I have questions! If you don't mind sharing, what denomination are you? And did your church used to be "bigger"? And do you live waaaaaaaay out in the country? I live waaaaaaay out in the country -- but it's gotten less country in the last 20 years! But we still have a family of 6 dear that seem to LIVE in our back woods.

BEAUTIFUL pictures!!!! Not sure what part of the country you live in but it sure is gorgeous! I'm in NE Texas here... temps are FINALLY cooling down... was able to turn the air off and open the windows a few weeks ago... Now if we could just get some RAIN! This drought is AWFUL.... But it is clouding up as I type this and looking like we might get a little so praying that we do... :)

Now that's an ominous thing - your scale breaking! It must have gotten too cold without the heat on, lol! We had our electricity go out on Christmas Eve one year and it stayed off for about 18 hours. But we didn't have any back-up heat at all. And yet it was a Christmas we'll always remember! Neat photo of the deer!

Thank You

Saturday, October 08, 2011

Thank You all my Spark Friends for your Happy Sparkversary wishes. It is hard to believe I have been on Spark People for 2 years. Looking back over the 2 years, there have been many ups and downs. But I have lost weight and still losing. I am eating healthier. I have been challenged to exercise and I actually had a 8 week streak of exercising 120 minutes a day (which I plan on getting started again and exceeding!). I have made many great friends and have had the privilege of meeting some.

Thank you again for walking by me and encouraging me in this weight loss and healthy living journey
