Ready, Set, Off to a Peaceful Start - Day 1 Summer 5% Challenge

I had a great day today. I tracked and stayed within my caloric range.

I did 10 mins of exercise this morning. Prepared my meals for the rest of the week.

Did my laundry and sparked the rest of the evening.

Sunday I walk get my 30mins in. I will just keep during what I am doing.

So with faith and adventure I start this path with joy and peace.

I will not give up on myself. I am the only one that can make it happen for me with God's help . I have the power to succeed or fail.

I choose to succeed.

Ready 2011 Summer 5% Challenge

I am so ready for the challenge. My body is much better. I am making normal visits to the ladies room. I have added some of the ideas my into my food plan that My emoticons gave me. Thank you

I have filled my tracker for the next week and half. So as I approach a day I can just make small adjustments. This also adds spark points emoticon

I will be using Leslie Walk away the pounds if I can not get to the gym.
I will pick up my heart monitor today.

I also will pick up my High blood meds this weekend.
Did my food shopping this morning. emoticon

I read my friend feeds everyday. I visit new member blobs and leave words of you can do it. I also visit blogs of friends of friends with birthday wishes and encouragement. I will now include my new team members.

I am ready, willing and able!!!! Bring it On!!!!!

2011 Summer 5% Challenge Day 6 - started

I do not know where to start. I went to a blood drive. I believe giving blood promotes healing it causes the body to replenish it self. This has been my experience.

The blood drive was at the Carolina Panther Stadium I got a free shirt and a tour of the Bank of American Stadium where the Carolina Panther's play. I had a great time. This was a 30 min walk. 2 or 3 years ago I would have never done this.

I went to the Dr and guess what my scale lies. I was 3 pounds lighter than my home scale and 25 pounds lighter than my last visit. The nurse gave me a big hug. I shared about my training for my 5K.

Then I got my hair done. I will upload a new picture in a few days. I look good I must say. emoticon

Because I gave blood I must wait 24 hours before I can go back to training this was a bummer. I will schedule giving blood on my rest day next time.

Thank you all for the wonderful suggestions and support. I am going to keep all the ideas.

We have been in our body for a very long time.

This has been a great time for me to get to know it.

I can not give blood for having lived in UK in 1980's and Africa for the first 25 yrs of my life so I miss on that body healing aspect.
I think every who gives blood is doing a very nice unselfish act.So Kudo's for you girl!!!.

2011 Summer 5% Challenge My 5K Your way assignment - started

Yes last evening I did the 30 min with Leslie. I was happy. I can say I have begun. I will walk another 30 min on Thursday. I do not know how I am going to do this I have a busy day. I will not allow anything to get in my way. I will plan time for me.

I am still tracking my food. However it appears my body function on another system. I may need to do no sugar, white flour or wheat. I am a bit hesitate however I am feeling my digestion slowing down processing the food. How do I know this. Well my bathroom visits are not as often. My stomach feels like I have rocks in it. For me the foods I am choosing are not being digested as they should so I will choose light foods and smaller meals. Cut back on calorie to the 1000-1200. See what happens.

One of the things I have learned is if I listen to my body and be aware on the signs it gives me I feel a lot better. Something I listen to what I read on how my body should act when I feed myself certain foods. I have been at this point many times.

It always comes back to this. I am at peace with this just another day in a life.

    That's great that you are listening to your body. But you shouldn't eat below 1200. One thing that helped me is switching to Ezekiel bread. They make breads, English muffins, tortillas and are much easier to digest! A friend tried it and told me she noticed a difference. It's sprouted whole grain bread. Try it and see if it makes a difference.

    Drink more water and eat more fruits and veggies instead of juices.
emoticon on your exercise, that is great.
Yesterday I walked with Liz for 1 hr which is the first for her even to have suggested it. I ended walking 2hr instead of 1.
When I have a full day at work, I make sure that I have a snack before going home and work out the moment I enter the house otherwise I find other things to do.
You will find the way to fit that exercise in today.

    Cutting calories may only make you sicker, my dear friend. It will slow down your digestion even more... You are right about what you're eating contributing to the issue, though.

Instead of cutting calories, try changing the balance of what you eat. Substitute for the starches you mention by adding more raw vegetables and fruits: non starchy veggies like celery, bell peppers, onions, cabbage--there's a lot to choose from... and you can also add some lentils and/or beans if you tolerate them... and you can if necessary add a fiber supplement like Benefiber.

...and if you are constipated, don't eat too much rice--it's one of the ingredients in the B.R.A.T. diet, used to cure diarrhea! LOL...

My suggestions come from my gastroenterologist, and it's totally natural, and takes care of the issue in no time at all.

Voice of experience! LOL

Never hurts to try something new, y'know...

    Congrats on the exercise!! It's the best medicine, it even makes outlooks brighter.

I am worried that you aren't eating enough at 1000 to 1200. Is this what Spark suggested? My body hates when I restrict my intake and revolts by holding on to weight. I have found that when I have a "hungry day" when I really feel hungry and not just bored, I have to eat a little snack every hour or two. I know it's crazy but it works.

    Hi, Miss Janet!

Congrats on your first day of training! You rock! Have you decided to do the walk training? (rather than the walk/jog) I think that might be a better place to start, and well worth it!

Don't forget they recommend a day of rest or cross training in between each day of training. You need rest time for your muscles to recover and grow stronger. (I don't want to see you get fatigued like I did after 10 days straight exercise earlier.)

I'm so proud of you and am so impressed with your determination!!!

2011 Summer 5% Challenge My 5K Your way assignment - I have not started Yet

Be careful what you ask for you may get it. My job is sponsoring a 5K in October and one of my co-workers have offered to run and train on occasion with me. I am excited and afraid at the same time.

I have a Dr's appointment on Thurs and my heart monitor is due to arrive that day also.

I get so excited that I am telling people what I am doing and they are excited for me.

Have I moved my body NO NO NO

I have not ......Today would be a great day to walk 15 with Leslie that will not kill me and that would make me feel so so good.

I am going to blog this part of my life This is something I want to bad however
I feel just as much fear.

Thank you all for your support I know I can not go without your time and attention.

Maybe one day I can blog on my run and this moment will be just a memory emoticon

    You are braver than you give yourself credit for. You can do the 5 K in October and having a partner to train with is great emoticon.
take her on her offer and make yourself and her accountable. Also remember it is one step at a time. I love walking with Leslie and I use the DVD whenever it is too hot or rainy outside. The fat burning 5 mile walk is a good one since you do a mile at a time and stop any time.
I have all the confidence in you that you will do well in that 5 K in October.
