The Day After

Tuesday, July 03, 2012

Been gone for the last 3 days. Went to Mt. Shasta Area. SOOO beautiful. Was camping so it was work. Did watch what I ate but Also didn't. Does that make any sense? At togo's the sandwich shop, on the way up, I made a good decision. 480 Calorie sandwich. Then some bad decisions, bacon, sausage, pancakes, and such. Then some good decision. Mile run in morning. Two long walk/ hikes. Swimming bout 3/4 of a mile. Then a few more bad decision on eating. Anyway, weighted in today and I'm up 1 1/2 pounds. Really not to bad. Had a lot of salty potato chips bacon sausage and other sodium full foods. Pretty good all in all for vacation. Plan today: Water water water, running a little and work. All seems do able. Oh, and some veggies and fruit added in :)

The Challenge of the day

Friday, June 29, 2012

So I started the day with great expectations. After missing a day at the gym due to the road trip I took the previous day. I dressed for the gym. Still sore from the running two days before. I work at a hospital and my cell phone rang with the caller id stating my employer's number. I'm like, great. Ok, I'll answer, even though I don't go to work till three. Well, to my surprise it was my mother in law. Saying hi, guess were I'm at. Well, caller ID gave that away but I still asked where. She told me she was admitted to hospital for a fever that won't go away and was having a hard time because she couldn't seem to make long distance calls. My husband has 6 sisters most of them out of the area. Plans change, no workout. I started my phone calls to my sister in laws and then headed to my hospital ( not for work) but to make sure my mother in law was ok. Got her set up. heard what her problems where and then after 3 hours left knowing one of my sister in laws was coming. Well, instead of going to work I was called off. YEAH, I went to gym. So thinking I wasn't going to get to go. I did get to. Ran a mile again then 45 mins walking on 15% incline. I was so happy to get this done. It made the rest of my day better. Workout's really do help everything stressful. Hopefully everything will be good with my mother in law tomorrow and I will again get to work out. I'm starting to sound obsessed.

Road trip

Thursday, June 28, 2012

Yesterday was a set back in my weight loss and fitness goals but fun. I went on a road trip to Ventura Californa ( 4 hours south of me) with my sister, oldest daughter and Niece. It was for business as well. I got merchandise for my online store. 4 hours there and 4 hours back. Left at 5am got back at 9pm. Ate a fasT food bisquit sandwich and pad thai. Did end the day with a salad. I'm so full of Sodium!!!!!! Today work at hospital in afternoon but I'm going to try to get a workout in at 11am. And drink a ton of water to wash this sodium away. I feel like a balloon.

A mile

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

So I've been exercising for the last 30 days. Only once did I skip two days in a row in that 30 days. So yesterday I started my workout on the treadmill. I decide to start running. I DID A MILE STRAIGHT!! very very cool. Then I continued on my regular workout of 15% incline at 3.6 per hour rate. Wow, bit sore this morning but I realized I could probably soon do a 5k race :) Granted 1 mile is not a 5k but it know seems realistic. I'm starting to feel like I will become that person I want to be. The person who gets up in the morning. Runs, accomplishes what they need to do without it being such a big mental struggle. Since I've knocked off 1/4 of my weight loss goal I can start to see the picture a little clearer. I'm also starting to not depend on frozen meals to count my calories and starting to branch off a bit. I use the frozen meals because it is mindless and I don't have to worry about snacking while cooking
( something I'm really good at doing). I'm starting to read everything and look at calories, fat and other such stuff. I made a great shrimp melt, stuffed mushrooms and today who knows. I'm so surprised that when I measure everything out I can eat what I want just in a controlled way.

Awesome job! Have you looked into a running program such as Couch to 5K? It is a great walk/run program that progresses you to that 3.1 mile mark.

I depend on the frozen meals sometimes too...mostly for lunch at work. We really need to watch out for the sodium in those though. I used to cook a batch of something on Sunday and take portions to work for lunch for the week. Must get back into that habit...

Stuffed Mushroom

Monday, June 25, 2012

These turned out super good as well

12 Baby Portabella Mushroom
2 light bread ( 45 cals each) slices (toast and make into breadcrumbs)
1 cup shredded zucchini
1 TBS parmesian cheese
1 tsp dill
1 tsp garlic powder

Wipe mushroom off and pull out stems. Finely chop mushrooms stems mix with shredded zucchini dill and garlic. Sauté mixture in pan with spray oil for about 5 mins med to high heat. Mix in bread crumbs and parm. Stuff mixture in mushroom tops place on sprayed oiled baking sheet. Bake in oven 350 for 30 mins.

I really liked these. Pretty much guilt free. They tasted good cold too.
