Stress reaction...

Friday, April 04, 2014

So my husband and I decided this tax return we were going to get the step-parent adoption done finally. We have been married almost four years and we have been wanting to get it done for awhile but couldn't afford it. This was very stressful for me because it meant that I had to deal with the sperm donor, even if it was through the lawyer. I maintained my weight through this but it really opened my eyes as to how I deal with stress. The emotional and financial stress of this whole process just made me tired and want to eat, eat, and eat some more. There has to be a better outlet for stress. In this middle of it all my husband was having some health problems stemming from his weight. After awhile it just feels like too much to deal with, and I don't even want to deal with it anymore. I have got to find a better way to cope!! emoticon

Knowledge is power. Really keep thinking about this and looking at what you can learn from it.

I'm 56 and just recently realized that I grind my teeth and clench my jaw when I'm under work stress. I have been bulldozing through bags of almonds and didn't know why until I realized that the constant chewing motion relieved the physical tension. Time to find a gum I like!!!!

I'm thinking about (and starting today) exercising to relieve stress. Maybe that could work for you, too. Good Luck!

sigh...

I really would like to be sleeping right now. I am totally exhausted and feel like a moo cow. The last few years have been such a struggle with myself that I am just worn out. I want to be active, I want to feel better and look better, I just can't seem to stop feeling like crud. I was up very late last night talking with my husband. We both have put on so much weight that it is ridiculous! With busy work schedules, school schedules, and my kids...I just don't have any energy to take care of myself at the end of the day. I am hoping tomorrow I can start taking time for myself at the beginning of the day! I did take a short walk this morning also. I hope I can start putting as much time and effort into myself as i put into everyone around me or I'm not going to live to see my children's children!

Can I take a wild guess and ask if you eat a lot of starchy foods - pizza, pasta, cookies, cakes? You get a short term boost and a long term energy drag? Have you considered dumping the white foods from your menu for a few days to see how it makes you feel?

Such a common mistake so many of us make: taking care of others before we take care of ourselves. As I read how you don't take time for yourself until the end of the day if you have time leftover I immediately thought what you write about In your next sentence: start the day with you time. Good for you that you are able to recognize the need to do that but that doesn't make any easier to make it happen. Perhaps you could identify specifically what you will do, how long you'll do it, and how frequently each week so you have a concrete plan to stick with. It doesn't have to be huge because remember that every journey begins with one step. You could plan for a 10 minute walk, reading a motivational story, planning your meals for the day, whatever you feel to be your top priority. emoticon

Its important to stay positive, forgive yourself for past mistakes but make changes to ensure you can change your life in a positive way. Like MEGAMOM134 said its all about small managable goals. Focus on what you can achieve day-to-day and the big picture will take care of itself.

Sometimes the hill looks so large you can't imagine climbing it. But if you take small steps every day eventually the hill is climbed. I try not to look at the big picture of how much I have to lose. I focus on how I can eat healthy today. Instead of doing on big exercise session, I do 3 10 minute sessions a day. I switched my goal from dieting to getting healthy, eating healthy and staying healthy. I am lucky that as I nurse I am surrounded everyday by people whose lifestyles have caught up with them. They keep me motivated. Keep at it, baby steps and it will all fall into place.

Another Reason I love my husband!

Friday, July 19, 2013

So my husband and I were recently discussing our health. We are both VERY overweight and we both have put a lot on over the last 5 years since we were officially dating. When were had started dating I was on a good run, dropped down to 193 from my all time high of 270+ (I wouldn't get on scale after I reached that number!). We are both feeling down about our weights and it of course affects everything we do everyday. I told my hubby in passing that I wish I weighed as much as some survivalist on Naked And Afraid. He looked at me and said that he sure hoped I wasn't serious, he didn't want me to be skin and bones, just healthy and happy. He asked what I was when we were dating and said I was really smokin' hot but as long as I'm happy he loves me as I am. He always makes such as effort to always make me feel sexy, even when the mirror is not. I sometimes feel like I have let him down getting to where I am at now, but he always consoles me and makes me feel like I'm the only woman in the world. Even when I get extremely irritated with him, I remember that he is truly a gift from God and I am so thankful to have him as my partner through every future journey! emoticon

Again and again

Thursday, July 04, 2013

Admittedly I do not read many people's blogs on here. I read the titles and that usually tells you what it's going to be about. Same as mine. I seem to always be falling back to the same point over and over. I have no excuse for eating the way I do right now. I'm not in school this quarter. I still have to get my work hours in and take care of my family and repair a house and two cars that seem to never stop needing repairs. Did I mention a fairly large drop in income? I sure with some part of my life would not be a source of anxiety and stress so that I can better focus on my own health. I'm tired and I haven't even done anything. In the heat that we have had over this week, I haven't even been able to enjoy working in the garden or playing with the horses. I guess I am having a woe is me day, and that makes me feel like a jerk. It is our Independence Day, I should be doing something...something....
That brings me to Sparkp emoticon eople. I figured that since I was being whiney and feeling down about my weight, or rather about my BMI, I would jump on here and see if I can get organized and motivated. I always appreciate my teams and the wonderful information on here. So...I shall read on!

I hope you feel better this week.
I have days when I just feel like staying in bed.
Remember by admitting to your feelings does not make you a jerk it makes you human.

All we as humans can do is like you said start again and again.

I know what you mean. We all have days like that and t's alright. Just don't stay there. When I find myself stuck in that rut I remind myself of all the things that I am grateful for to take the focus off of the things that have caused anxiety, frustration, or discouragement. It also helps to remind myself that whatever my circumstances, there is always someone who has more troubles then I do. Take care of yourself. Best wishes for your success.

I hear you loud and clear. This sounds like my experience. I have decided that I need to depend more on God and less on myself. Don't get down on yourself. We are here for you and do understand what you are going through. Sometimes we just need to vent and what better place than here where people understAnd and care.

You are NOT a jerk. You are a beautiful human being who is under stress. Stop and take a deep breath and tell yourself that you are loved by God and He will help you through anything He allows to happens to you. I'm not minimizing your problems but let God help you through them.

You are beautiful and you are loved. emoticon

Finally!

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

I finally had a drop...only a pound, but holy cow! Finally! I started hauling hay this week so even though some of the things I ate the last few days were the healthiest, I lost. I just needed that one little teeny number drop to motivate me! I feel much better now...I will o kick some butt! emoticon
