Sparkstreak Day 11, rough weekend coming up

Thursday, August 15, 2013

Another day logged, so far so good. This weekend will be rough, though - my high school reunion goes for two evenings, Friday and Saturday; and my grandson's birthday party is Sunday afternoon. I am having salmon for the Saturday night dinner, and the Friday will be hors d'oeuvres.

My poetic plan:

If there are vegetable I will avoid the dips.
No fried items will pass my lips.

As for the birthday party, there will be cake, but my daughter is good about cutting me a small piece. The meal will be doable - lots of fruits and vegetables, baked beans, and build-your-own sandwich bar. One slice of bread at most, maybe none.

Hmmm . . . you heard me say it. I'll report to you, dear blog readers.

Sparkstreak Days 5,6,7,8,9

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

Wow! I managed to log everything, but didn't tell you about it. it was a busy time- appointments, picking and freezing blackberries (I put them on cookie sheet to freeze separately then bag them up - eat like popsicles in the winter!), my daughter and grandson over, then my husband's birthday celebration on the weekend. I did have birthday cake.

I do have to confess, I exceeded calories on the birthday meal by about 50 calories. I had it planned pretty well, but we had a small pie to sample made from red crab-apples, and I ate a bite. Well, there you go.

I followed the advice of a Sparkfriend to do better the next day, and to get in more exercise.

The good news is, no weight gain at all, and I still hope to lose a pound this week.

Congratulations of doing so well & tracking everything. Gee, only 50 calories over your limit during a birthday celebration is very good in my book. That's a very minimal overage ! I wouldn't feel bad about that at all. Sounds like a wonderful weekend with your family ! Yay ! I'll bet you will get rid of another pound, you have been doing so well ! Keep up the awesome work ! You are inspiring emoticon

50 calories over is certainly not bad and should not have much impact. Sounds like you are doing great!

Sparkstreak days 2 and 3

Wednesday, August 07, 2013

Wahoo! In spite of the cookies of last week, I managed to lose a pound.

The cookies and their fragrance offered me a good lesson, though. I do need to have a plan in place to deal with such things. I now have a small pill bottle of chocolate chips in my refrigerator for those "gotta have it" moments (as per the suggestion from KONRAD695), and am taking the advice of THIN133 to do some extra exercise or plan fewer calories for the next meal.

The small container of chocolate chips to use if I am faced with an unquenchable desire will be enough for me. And I am planning right now of adding exercise or subtracting calories (while still tracking and consuming protein, carbs and fat) if I have one of those unexpected food encounters.

Monday at work there was a gooey chocolate cake for a birthday celebration, and I managed to say no. Yesterday there was ice cream brought in by an outside agency, and I said no. Today there was a box of doughnuts. No again!

I am happy about all of them, and I am even happier to say that I wasn't tempted. the "Three Cookie Encounter" was a great wake-up call to remind me of what I really want - a healthy body and good riddance to the sugar and fat temptations of sweets; and fat and salt temptations of chips and other junk food, and the sugar, fat, and salt loaded on to meats, salads, side dishes, and other mealtime staples. Hooray, too, for a renewed interest in cooking! It IS fun.

Yippee Skippee !!! You got rid of another pound ! Wahoo ! Hooray ! You go girl !Those few cookies didn't do too much damage . You controlled them , not the other way around ! YES !!! I like the idea of your stored chocolate chips for in an emergency & need a chocolate fix :) I'm so impressed you passed up all the sweet treats at work . That takes real will power to say no to those deserts . Good job ! emoticon emoticon emoticon
