Doctor and me and this site

Tuesday, March 01, 2011

After I talked to my Doctor i found out some things first I doing a healthy slow weight loss after the increase in medication for my hypo thyroid. I think the fact that I am going back to my original medication regimen with my other medications is going to help in my weight loss. Being able to breathe will help a lot Something else I found out is I having to go in for a biopsy here soon to check for cancer. Will perfer not to say where. After discussing the recommendations this site has given me with my doctor I have decided I am going to be using this site as main form of support and recording purposes. On the whole I am doing well with my weight loss. I would hope so with when my average calorie intake is 1200 calories daily and most of the time that is pushing it and thats after recording my calorie intake everyday for two weeks and my lowest being 900 and my highest at 1800. She reccommended a 200 0 calorie diet to begin with

I ate 200 more calories than my goals and missed out on my walk. did do my cardio. I been doing good was even considering changing my goals calories and fitness wise cause i was eating less calories for my goals and exercising more than my goals said. I thinking that its a mistake and maybe in a way i kinda even out the skills. I also noticed I don't get any calories used or exercise times counted for my strength work outs. Any reason for this I wonder.

You're right cardio is the only type of exercise that is counted. I guess Sparks does that because cardio effects weight loss more directly than strength training (which if done correctly, will probably lead to some good weight gain).

So this whole calories in/calories out pratice is all about balance. That is, we have to have enough fuel (cals in) to have exercise efforts (cals out) to be effective and efficient. If you have a great negative caloric balance and try to over exercise one's body thinks it is starving and hordes the calories put in and weight loss suffers. So, again balance (including changing your goals to reflect what is best for your body) may be a GOOD thing to consider. Plus eating a too restrictive diet is not a fun nor a pratical way to live the rest of your life, right?

See this Spark article for a little more information:

Just some food for thought. :)

Ok Has anyone noticed that the nutiriton customiziation food thing is missing certain items. Should I be concerned. For example for lunch yesterday I had left over Hamburger helpers Complete meals cheesy Beef Taco casserole. I choose the closest option available and went from there. Until We go on our plan shopping list I got to use what we have in the house and my husband is big on hambuger Helpers. Unfortunately some of the Hambuger Helpers aren't on the customized list.

I have only been using SP for 2 weeks. I had the same problem you are having (but with a different food) and it took a little bit of clicking around but I figured out how to add things that are not in the list. From your nutrition page click "Add a Food" . near the search button there is a button that says "Enter a food not listed" Clicking that will bring up something that looks like a nutrition label. Copy the information from the label on your box of hamburger helper into the boxes. Good luck!
