The Rules for Being Human

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

I often find wonderful info as I'm subscribed to many things and this one I felt was worth sharing... by Kim Wolinski: The original author for the following rules is unknown. I have adapted them from a version by Dan Millman, author of Way of the Peaceful Warrior.

The Rules for Being Human

When you were born, you didn't come with an owner's manual; you have had to learn the rules the hard way. The following rules are intended to help you lighten up and make your life easier.

1.You will receive a body. Your body is your Earth suit. You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for the entire period this time around. You have chose its shape on a deeper level; leave it be or change it. Either way, love it.

2.You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called Life On Planet Earth. Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn lessons. You make like the lessons, hate them or think them irrelevant. You may learn them at your own pace, but you can only be expelled or leave once.

3.There is no failure and no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of experimentation--trial and error. The so-called failed experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiment that ultimately "works." Learn from everything and everyone.

4.You will have classmates, teachers and students. You will have a choice of who is in your life and why. All people are your teachers. Some will be your students and still others will be enjoyable classmates for play and fun. Make clear choices about how and when others are in your life. Most people spend far too many years in drama class. Others are merely mirrors of and for you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate in yourself; that you are running away from or striving for; fear or desire.

5.A lesson is repeated until learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you've learned it, you can then go on to the next lesson. If you don't learn easy lessons, they become harder. You will know you've learned a lesson when your mindset and actions change.

6.Learning lessons does not end. There is no part of life that does not contain its lessons. Every person, every incident is the universal teacher. If you are alive, there are lessons to be learned.

7."There" is no better than "here." Nothing leads to happiness. When you're "there" has become a "here," you will simply obtain another "there" that again looks better than "here."

8.What you learn in Life on Planet Earth--what you create of your life--is up to you. There are three kinds of people:

**those who make things happen,
**those who watch what happens,
**those who wonder what happened.

Life is like a movie; you may feel like a bit player, but you have the power to become screen writer, casting director, choreographer, producer and director. It's your movie. You have all the tools and resources you need; what you do with them is up to you. Notice that you do have the courage to take the necessary risks and that fear is normal; take charge of your life. If you don't someone else will.

9.Your answers live inside you. All you need to do is look, listen and trust. Then you'll realize that you are the spiritual being you've been seeking.

10.You will tend to forget all this.

If you would like to see more of the Top 10 tid-bits see Meggin's PhD of Productivity info at www.meggin.com

I don't know about you but WOW this really hit home for me on all levels - especially the part about lessons.

I've been busy and certainly not waiting to see what happens in my life but making things happen ... I'm going to coast through this week and adjust things as necessary as I adapt to the new routine of adding a 2nd job to my already busy life. I am looking at it as a learning experience - and BOY is there lots to learn. My first 3 hour shift was to overview everything about the store and some basics of my duties/responsibilities. I will be working again Thu-Friday 5 to 8 and will begin practicing on cash and work 10 to 5 on Saturday which will end my training week. I am a bit nervous as I know I won't have all the answers right away but also excited about the opportunity to learn as I help people find what they need. The pay is slightly more than I figured ($1 more than our minimum wage) and I get 25% off any purchases as an employee.

My regular job is also quite busy as Fall means the new influx of students joining our team and the HR related paperwork... but I'm still LOVING IT!!

I didn't have time to do my workout this morning so will enjoy my lunch time walk and planning for a workout this evening too. Time is precious and I am now going to be ensuring I maximize every minute of my day with positive and healthy action!

I'm going to make my life an exciting and adventure filled Movie! What will you do with yours?! The choice is always OURS to make. Make the most of it my SP Friends!!

Perspective - Live Life TODAY!

Monday, September 19, 2011

I was doing my morning routine and just after 4am received a phone call... it's never good when you get a call that early in the morning. It was a dear childhood friend who called me to ask for my sister's number as they wanted to relay the news of their sister's passing (a good friend of my sister). Ironically, I had just called the other friend/sister yesterday to re-connect after seeing her grown son on Facebook.

How petty my worries seem when I get this call. The passing was sudden. Her children had not heard from their mother in a few days and went to the apartment to check on her and they were too late - her lungs gave out. She was young enough (early 50s). She has children and grandchildren... and it breaks my heart.

Another reminder about cherishing LIFE and the gift of TODAY! One never knows ... While I do believe her shortened life was due to health issues - it again reminds me of how important it is to take good care of our bodies.

This is all I have this morning... I'm in shock a bit and so glad I reconnected with my dear friend yesterday prior to this news. It's time like this when I wish I was closer so that I could go pay my respects - but I will be there in spirit.

Planning for Balance

Sunday, September 18, 2011

Thank you to all for your words of congratulations on my new '2nd' job! I also take note of your concerns that I may be 'too busy' but rest assured I have a plan for balance.

The shifts I'll be working are very reasonable - still allowing me to do my morning workouts and there's my lunch time walks unless the weather is too nasty. Then I may explore gym classes that they offer at lunch for a mere $4 at the rehab centre or join the gym at the hospital for a very modest monthly fee and get my workout in that way.

I will still have 2 evenings free and Sunday's off. What this new job is allowing me to see is how I can maximize my time and schedule. I'm ready for this and honestly so excited about learning all about the supplements and the store, that it won't seem like work but more an expansion of my education in the area of health (again - I see this as another step bringing me closer to my wish to one day become a health coach). It's another facet of knowledge that I'm adding to my experience.

This morning I'm a bit rushed so won't be working out. Just put a nice 'steak' chili in the slow cooker and going to be heading out to work my volunteer shift at the water station with my association. I leave at 6:15 and will be done around noon so I'll get my workout in a bit later - and for sure another walk by the river (it's going to be another gorgeous day!!)

So SParkies ... I'm off and running... well kind of - shower time, get ready and go to cheer on all the participants at the race. I may not be able to run, but I will be giving my time and cheers to all participating!

Go ANNE7X7!! And all others who are participating!

You will be busy, but like you said, when you have less free time, you maximize it more! That's what I've been finding with school+work!

Thanks for the shout out :) Still bummed that I didn't see you (by the 16K mark, I had stopped looking and was just trying to stay alive!)

BooYAH!!! I got the JOB!!

Saturday, September 17, 2011

Well I couldn't be higher right now - I'm smiling so much! I just came back from my interview with the owner of the store and his manager and they offered me the job on the spot! I start Monday and will be working evenings (3 nights a week) from 5 to 8pm and Saturdays. He said they have their own staff who provides training about their supplements and that they also offer telephone training with suppliers - you get the training via phone and you get a free sample!

Oh Man!! I swear I feel so truly blessed and happy right now!! I'm bursting!!

I will be busy working my regular job from Monday to Friday 7:30 to 3:30 - get in around 4:40pm and head over the the other job after that. But you know - it's in a place that I'm going to LOVE I just know it. I was so impressed with their store and all they have... check out their website!! www.kardishfoods.com/retailer/store_
templates/ret_about_us.asp?storeID=182
C8396012C4204B1DFAEA3E908D66C

So my People in Ottawa who live near the Bells Corner area - come by and see me sometime!

Ask, Believe, RECEIVE my friends! The Law of Attraction brought this wonderful opportunity to me and I am so very grateful!! I didn't even ask what the pay was because I'm so thrilled about the opportunity just to work there surrounded by stuff I'm so passionate about.

Now I need to go walk or do something to burn up some of this energy... time to go grocery shopping.

Feeling Superb!!

Saturday, September 17, 2011

Well folks - I went out to meet my friends for dinner at 7pm as planned last night and had a wonderful healthy meal (even allowed myself a nice piece of pecan cheesecake) and NO DRINKS! They ordered their glass of wine and I had club soda with lemon and I feel GREAT today!! I got on the scale and while my weigh in is not until Wed - I see another pound GONE!

Dinner with my friends was so wonderful (last time we got together was 6 months ago) and they even picked up my tab as a belated birthday gift (I felt bad accepting and then remembered a reading in my angel book that stated in order to allow abundance into our lives we must be open to accepting those types of gifts and so I graciously then accepted and gave thanks!)

I got in rather late (just past 11pm) but surprisingly wasn't tired and I know it's because I didn't have any drinks too. I was anxious to check my e-mail to see if I received my message about what time my interview would be and at first was dissappointed as I didn't see anything in my inbox. Luckily I checked my spam folder and there it was - so I go for my interview at 2pm today.

I had my protein shake and eggs for breakfast and it's a beautiful sunny day out there so I'm going to head out for a walk by the river and soak in the beauty of the season! I may connect with ANNE7X7 later too for another walk.

Plans outside of my activity and interview include regular weekend cleaning/organizing. Before dinner last night I dropped off some clothing to a friend of my youngest's and then 2 large bags into a clothing donation bin. It feels so good to de-clutter this way and give back.

I can't say enough how wonderful I feel by not breaking my streak of AF days... Day 12 today and I seriously am aiming to be AF for the duration of the BLC challenge. I believe this piece is they key to finally achieving my weight loss goals. While I believe in moderation, not deprivation, in this case it's simply a matter of choice ... it's not forever but the period will allow me to better be able to incorporate moderate social drinking once the BLC challenge is over.

The power I feel in making this choice and decision far outweighs the slight satisfaction a drink can bring me. Life is simply emoticon and I'm so very grateful for all the gifts being brought to me.

Wish me luck on my afternoon interview! Will let you know how it turns out... Have a Stupendous DISCO Saturday my fellow BLCers!

I am so proud of you! Way to go and you enjoyed yourself and without the drink the pecan pie oh yum didnt do as much damage.
Can you tell that by my comments that I have a sister in law that was an alcholic and another that is a gambler. I so don't want to see any of my friends head down that road. The first sister in law doesnt drink but buys anything and evrything. The other is still having gambling issues. So glad hubby doesnt drink much as his dad was an alcoholic.

and whatevr awesome ones there are on there.

Good luck on your interview, I would love to have a job like that, but right now can't work as waiting for long term, but maybe someday when my health gets better cos it will cs I am working on it!!!, I will work part time casual hrs at a place like that. so interesting and right up my ally.

Lots of AF days are key to a healthy weight. I'm maintaining by being consistent with my exercise and keeping an eye on the scale. When it moves just a little in the wrong direction, I am more conscious about my food choices until I'm back where I want to be.
