Went to the gym after school today...one day done, 184 to go... :)
I was thinking about taking it easy at the gym because - poor me - I actually had to get up when the alarm went off and be at work all day. But I decided I'd just see what machine was available (I arrived at the gym around 5:45...their busy time)... and let that determine whether I did an easy elliptical workout or a tough treadmill workout. Well, a treadmill was available, thankfully!
I ended up running 5.87 miles in an hour, yay me! That was 2 minutes of walking warmup, then went up to 7 mph and then slowly lowered as my heart rate went up. Toward the end I was all the way down to 5.1-5.4 mph, but that's OK. For the very last minute I increased to 7 mph again, because I've learned that in a race you're supposed to sprint at the very end. Then I walked for 5 minutes so by the end I'd gone over 6 miles and burned over 700 calories. Then I did a great stretch and even think I did a real pushup (though my form may have been questionable). I was sweating a LOT, which kinda felt good, and my armpits are both chafed, which did NOT feel good.
(Yay - as I write, David Ortiz gets a home run for the Sox against the Evil Empire!)
I thought about continuing until I'd done 6.4 miles/10K, but didn't feel like it...maybe sometime. But I am really glad I used the treadmill instead of the elliptical today. It's a better workout for me. I'm going to keep this up, no matter how busy school gets!!!! It's too great not to!
