Rain Update

The totals are in. We had 1 2/3 inches. Today it is cold and windy. Yesterday my gardener blood was stirring. Today I realize we have a few more weeks to go before we can get out there. It's back to dishes, laundry, dusting and vacuuming.

  


Rain, Rain, DON'T Go Away

It rained ALL day today. It started raining this morning before sunrise, and it rained until 3 this afternoon. I just got back from the grocery store (7 P.M.) I had to put the windshield wipers on intermittent. It's misting. We're supposed to have a wintry mix tonight. I don't care as long as it's wet.

It has to be my imagination. Every time I looked out today the grass in the yard seemed greener than it did when I had looked at it before.

Keep praying for us. We need several more days like this to get our rivers and lakes and stock ponds filled back up.

This wasn't my imagination. The wheat looked a lot better today than it did yesterday.

Thank God for the rain.

    I'm glad to hear you got what you needed. Did you get that big squall line coming through? We had tornado warning early this morning. It went by quickly and now we are getting a good rain. Snow is predicted for this weekend.
Yes, I noticed the grass looking greener yesterday also!

    I'm so glad you got some rain, and I hope you get more. The thought of wheat and green grass in January is a novelty for me though - just lots of white here! :)

Spark Menu: Day 4

Yuck. Not very good food and not very much of it. I have been hungry almost all day. I was excited about supper. Hot meal. I thought we were having a skimpy lunch because we were going to get to eat more tonight. Wrong. 1/2 servings of everything - the cabbage rolls, the corn, the cornbread. The only thing I had a full serving of was milk. There sure is a pile of dirty dishes in the kitchen for no more than I got to eat. emoticon

There had better be some celebrating on the scale Saturday. Food wise, this was a hard, miserable day.

    I usually weigh in on Saturdays. I enjoyed the meals today a lot more. I think I might be coming down with the stomach virus that's going around. My menu tomorrow may consist of 7 Up and crackers. emoticon I hadn't thought about the cornbread connection. I was just thrilled to see it on the menu. Pinto beans sound good. I never learned to drink buttermilk. I love to cook with it.

    I've discovered any day that includes cornbread means that all my other food has to be skimpy! So I skip the cornbread (unless I have a big bowl of pinto beans....yum!) Dangit! Now I want pinto beans, greens, cornbread, and a big ole glass of buttermilk! LOL!
Sorry it was a bad day for you. It's no fun feeling deprived. What day do you usually weigh-in?

Tea....no sugar

It's official. I have finally learned to drink my peppermint tea without sugar. Last summer I would put a teaspoon in. I cut it down to half. Around Thanksgiving I started putting in 1/4 teaspoon. Today is the second time I've had tea in the last 3 days that I have not used any sugar or artificial sweetner.

    Oh, I love peppermint tea also! But I'm a coffee drinker in the mornings. Been weaning the sugar back in my coffee. At this point, it's at a standstill b/c I'm looking back at how much I used to put in it and thinking "I'm saving a tsp of sugar a day!" I should start thinking, "I'm having two unnecessary tsps a day!" I drink two large mugs each morning, with sugar and milk. That's 60 calories every day.
I enjoy Chia tea on occasion, as well as peach and I have a rosehip/hibiscus tea that is tart and yummy. It all depends on my mood. I take a kick for tea about every 2 months.
Congratulations on training your taste buds! The body is such an amazing thing. I'm often in awe of how it works despite living in mine for my entire life. LOL!

    Good job! I now prefer peppermint tea plain. Adding sugar makes it taste gross to me. It's amazing how your tastebuds changes.

Spark Menu: Day 3

I switched the lunch and supper meals. It's hard for me to imagine having a cold Sunday lunch after church! So, this evening we had a meal I approached with some trepidation. I thought it was one of those weird Spark Menu meals. Romaine lettuce, with walnuts and lots of strawberries. The dressing was 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar and a teaspoon of olive oil. I couldn't imagine putting vinegar on strawberries. It was DELICIOUS. I tore through mine in no time flat. The entire meal was delicious and filling, yet I don't feel overfull either.

My mouth is starting to get sore from eating all the fresh produce.

We enjoyed our lunch of tenderloin and baked sweet potatoes.

I think I might be able to get used to eating like this.

    My husband can't eat walnuts, pecans, or hazelnuts because they make the inside of his mouth really sore. Maybe it was the nuts on your salad rather than the fresh.produce.
