Not Much Going On

Saturday, November 07, 2009

Saturday afternoon and I can honestly say I have not done a whole lot of anything.

I did manage to drag myself to the shower, which helped the way I felt, and go get groceries, but other than that, nothing. I picked up stuff at the store the family could put in the microwave and feed themselves. I have official went on strike for the day and if I don't feel better tomorrow it may continue.

I have taken care of Spark business and made a rough draft of my business flier in my print workshop program. All the while I was doing this I kept hearing this sound from the living room. Turned out it was the couch calling my name. It was so happy to see me it invited me to take a nap and I was happy to oblige. You see me reference the couch a lot, that is because when we got new living room furniture a couple years ago, I decided no recliners. It had been years since we had a full size couch and I take full advantage of it. A few years ago I would be telling you the recliner was calling my name but no more. I do miss them and when it's time to replace this furniture I'm sure one will make it's way back into the living room.

The weather is beautiful here and it does upset me that I don't want to be out in it, but it is supposed to be this way for another week. I am hoping by taking it easy this weekend I will be ready to take it on full force next week. Let me change that to I will be ready to take it on!

You all have a stupendous Saturday evening and continue with the awesome job you all are doing. You all rock!

Your body is definitely telling you it needs a break. Good for you for listening to it!

We have 2 full couches. So we can both lay down to watch tv. AND they recline, too, altho unfortunately the way the room is set up now, you can't really recline them & watch tv. Our furntiure doesn't quite fit this room; we bought it for our old house.

I'm Done For The Day

Friday, November 06, 2009

This is going to be short because I lost my ambition around noon today along with my voice, kids are loving that! emoticon

It is such a beautiful day and here I am finishing up Spark for the day and then heading to the couch. Everyone is on their own for dinner tonight. They are going to love me for this!

Just wanted to share a little and this seems to be perfect since on one of the teams I am co-lead on has had a very funny cat conversation off and on today.

I always wanted a chenille bedspread. I remember my grandma having one and I also loved how soft they were. Not too long ago I found one that was affordable for our king size bed and purchased it. Every since it has been on the bed the cats have claimed it as theirs. They must like it's softness cause it's like moving 10 tons to get them off when I want on.

This is what happens if I don't get upstairs right away to make the bed.

This is Sandy on the left and Max on the right.

Max is our fat cat and his full name is Maximilian and Joshua says that's because he is worth a million dollars. He is a grand champion and my blue eyed baby boy. He also thinks everyone and everything should love him as much as he loves himself.

As you can see Sandy left the premises but fatso would not budge so I made the bed around him, this is not a first. The only thing he did was roll over for his favorite thing, a belly rub.

Enjoy. I'm going to go make some tea and hopefully be back tomorrow,

Hope you're feeling better today! Simba sounds a lot like your Max, except he's not fat. But he thinks everyone on earth was put here to love him. I just throw him off the bed when I need to make it. He seems to think it might fly away if he's not there to anchor it.

He only used to sleep with us on very rare occasions, but since we moved, he decided he's got to sleep with me every night, and he's a big boy (but not fat).

I think they remind me of being a little girl because my parents had one on their bed when I was growing up. I was a bad kid; I used to pull at the threads sometimes. Their's was purple and white-I will never forget that!

I Have Such Great Neighbors

Thursday, November 05, 2009

It just doesn't get any better than this. There is a young couple that live catty cornered from us. They have been here about a year or so. They are very nice and friendly have 2 children a dog, you know just a typical family. She is a school counselor for the middle school and the 5th grade school. I don't know what he does, just that he leaves early and comes home late. She purposefully sought me out today on the school grounds. She started with I have to say this before I forget again and you are gone. You look so amazing! I have been watching you and can not believe how much smaller you have gotten and I want to know what magic potion you have brewed? I was secretly wondering if she thought I was a witch? I told her how I was fed up with the way I was, put my foot down, and started doing something to fix it. I told her about Spark, what I was doing to lose weight, and that I was in the beginning stages of starting a consulting business for women and their issues be it weight loss, self esteem, just what ever they needed. She then went on to say, so you count calories, you walk, you have an on line site that you meet with everyday, is this correct? I said, yes. Then she said, well I really want to look better and be able to buy smaller clothes, but I don't think I want to work that hard to get there. I know my jaw hit the pavement. I'm thinking if you don't want to put out some effort why did you run me down, give me a fantastic complement, and ask me all these questions? Oh, I know! You thought I was going to tell you I swallowed a handful of pills from some underground drug dealer that just magically made the weight go away and build the muscles at the same time. Then she said when you get your business going I might have to come over for a good pep talk. With a genuine smile I said I hope when that happens you are ready to work, because I won't talk to you if you're not. She smiled and said Oh, you are just so funny, that's why all us neighbors just love you!

I walked home with I'm sure what was an utterly I just came from the Twilight Zone look on my face. I couldn't even shake my head in amazement at what had just happened.

Really she is truly a nice young people and very bright and caring, just not always in the real world I would have to say. The other thing that gets me about what she said is the fact that she loves to golf and gets up at 5 am in the summer to play. I would imagine this is the priority, not slimming down and liking how you look. Come to think of it I bet now I would look pretty HOT in a cute little golf outfit! Maybe I should take up the sport and go play with her. Just might make her jealous enough to get on the stick with the weight loss.

You all have a tremendous Thursday afternoon and evening.
emoticon The weekend is almost here!

I'll buy the cute little golf outfit for you. All you have to do is post pictures for us when you start playing golf with your neighbor at 5 am. I don't even want to guess how early you would have to get up to work that into your schedule! emoticon

I have been having similar conversations with people at work the past few weeks, and it's so disappointing to me that no one wants to REALLY join SP. Everyone is so saturated with the marketing of all the "magic" answers, we each have to find our own personal 'moment of truth' when we finally realize just how simple it really is, and that it does require a lifetime commitment. emoticon

Look how long it took each of us to "get to that place" to do something about what our futures held if we did not do the work. I agree with SBLC Sharon that a reality check on what quality and longevity of life she will have with her family sounds right up your alley. You can lead the horse.... etc. We who are "there" are just like reformed smokers etc and can be so militant ( I should say we learned the lesson and are so wanting to share the knowledge) about it but at the same time, we are all older, experienced in children women and have learned to let them learn their own lessons but give guidance along the way. I am saying this in the simplist of terms, Kat, I now there is more, Boy, oh, boy.... your neighbors all know who you are (you changed the face of your neighborhood) so wait until they see what else you have to offer. You are going to have tooooo much fun at this. I'm gonna have to move there.

That's hilarious SEK! I've had people make the same sort of comments to me ... and it always cracks me up when this incredulous look comes across their face - like - "you WORK at it??? ... that's just way too hard".

I actually keep a few Spark cards at my desk at work (I got them when I bought my T-shirt - SP should be way more generous about distributing them) that I have given out to a couple people who actually seemed interested ... one I know joined ... but we agreed that (right now) friending each other would feel like we were crossing way too many boundaries, and neither one of us feels comfortable with that; so we know we're on site, we know each other's user names, and once I'm retired maybe we'll both feel okay to make a friend connection. In the meantime I'm just glad she's here, and after only four weeks, I already see results (and so does she - she's thrilled).

The Day Has Finally Arrived And I Have Given Birth

Wednesday, November 04, 2009

I figure with a title like that everyone in Spark will come running to see what I had! emoticon

What I had was the start of something that I had never done and it turned into something that I love to do. As of 1 pm this afternoon central time my first stained glass project was finished. It has had it's bumps, dips, hills, and a lot of 4 letter words. It has caused be to use several band aids, burn ointment and did I mention a lot of 4 letters words? I learned that a diamond glass grinder makes a fantastic nail file, but you should hold your finger at a certain angle so it leaves the nail with a great shape instead of just jamming it in and having a big dip in it. I learned that no matter how careful you score the glass it will break where it's not supposed to and cause you to use, yes that's right, 4 letter words. I learned that adding the patina to the solder makes something that looks very bad, look absolutely beautiful. That means I also learned never to judge the finished product until it is finished! My hubby learned first hand that I talk to the inanimate objects that I am working, on, with, and around, and that the conversation is not always a nice one. He also learned that I ask them questions. He had enough presence of mind not to mention the fact that they did not answer , I answered for them. It has been a double treat having all my friends here at Spark in on this venture with me. It is great to know that you not only support your friends on their weight loss journey, but any other journey they may take as well. OK, I know you are just itching to see the finished product, so without further ado;

I got my buddy Joshua to take the pics and I hope you enjoy them. I will tell you this morning at 4 am if you would have told me this piece would look so good I would have called you crazy!

Day 3 of new business has been thinking about how I want the flier and business brochure to look while working on the window. I found if I thought of something else other than the way the solder looked at that moment, it didn't bother me as much.

There you have my day today. Now I am going to go stretch out and rest by back as I have been hunched over most of today.

Have a great afternoon and evening!

Wow. Wow. Wow. Your blog, your art, finding your "niche" and "voice" (i.e., vocation) in the world - not to mention your humor - leave me in awe. More than anything, I rejoice in flow. You've tapped into Judy beyond the woman. I can only imagine how your neighbor's wife is going to rejoice in his gift, via your heart and hands.

This made me smile: "My hubby learned first hand that I talk to the inanimate objects that I am working, on, with, and around, and that the conversation is not always a nice one. He also learned that I ask them questions. He had enough presence of mind not to mention the fact that they did not answer , I answered for them." More than anything, it helps me to know you.

When we first met, I shared my response to your beautiful yard. Now, I see the inside of your home is equally beautiful.

Thanks so much for the invitation to share in your triumphs. I am so jazzed for you!

Another Day Gone

Tuesday, November 03, 2009

Today has been spent trying to solder the stained glass and it has made me unhappy. I don't think it looks all that good and I'm driving myself crazy trying to bring it up to my standards. I decided it was time to just stop and start again in the morning. I lost a couple of hours work time this morning waiting on a possible new day care client. She was supposed to be here at 9 with her child for an interview and never showed. I called and left a message which she returned around 4:30 this afternoon. Glad I am smart enough not to wait that long on someone. I also didn't wait 2 hours, but by the time I got things prepared for her arrival and then did wait, I lost close to that amount of valuable solder time.

I am still tossing business names around and have spent time today working on business concepts and trying to think of catchy tag lines. This must be the reason I never went into advertising. Takes me too long to come up with something catchy!

I need to go find some information on how to make solder look better, so I'm going to sign off and hit the books.

You all have a great evening!

DAISYBILL 11/4/2009 11:39AM

Egads.... So you want your solder to look perfect according to your standards. Nothing wrong with that. Everyone who has done anything knows that it takes practice. Nothing wrong with admitting you are in the learning stage. That was brave of you to step out with an "I can do it" attitude from the get-go.

Egads again.... You already have a thriving business and deal with people (not things) and waiting occasionally on someone else is part and parcel...

Now you are ambitious enough to start a new business ( which I can see you being extremely successful with) and need to find a name. You will be the draw and word of mouth will be your calling card. The name is not as important as what you are offering.

You are not being indecisive or weak or confused or whatever. You have a lot of irons in the fire at once. One thing at a time and they will all get done. On time, When you need them done. The way you need to do them and no one else can determine those things but YOU.

WTG Girl Friend.

Well, this is the first time adventuring into the world of stained glass. It is tough... I have watched my neighbor do this many times and like every new task, it just takes time and practice. I know you will conquer this skill too!! emoticon

Just relax about the business name. The name is realy the least important thing... concentrate on the other aspects of your new business and the name will come easily after all the other details are in place. emoticon

Hope you find the perfect solution to your soldering problem. I understand. I like to do things in a way that pleases me too. Don't want to do a job that doesn't represent my vision.
Tomorrow is a brand new day. Hope you're having a good evening.

OK, so let me get this right....solder isn't perfect. Wasted time on a possible client who never showed up....can't come up with a name for your consulting business...right? Hmmm how is this all related?? It is you know. Interesting, very interesting.
