How You Live Without A Kitchen

Friday, February 21, 2014

As I was posting on a team I thought y'all have no idea what is going on in the rest of the house since my kitchen is gone. So, I thought I would show you.

The living room becomes a lumber yard.

The dining room becomes the Kiden (new word combo of kitchen dining) Room, and tool room.

The big box is new dishwasher.

Yes life is so much fun at my house right now. I need to get Joshua back to school, time for English.

we went through the same thing a few years back, we ate microwave meals for weeks, because how ever long they told us, was about twice that long, but it all came together and it will for you too.

More Kitchen

Friday, February 21, 2014

I finally found the "good" photos of the kitchen and how it looked before all the "mess".

The island without doors and it's getting ready to come out.
Other side of the island and the east end of kitchen.
Different angle. The west end of the kitchen used to be a very, small bath, that is why in some pictures there is white tile on the wall.
Island gone and trash can sitting on top of water line so no one trips on it.
North side of kitchen.
Such a hard worker.

You see I get out of working to take pictures! LOL!!!

Kitchen Work

Thursday, February 20, 2014

OK, I know I've been saying I was going to do this so here goes.

Some of you know we started kitchen remolding a few weeks ago. It has been slow to start and slow going, but that is the way in the beginning. Here a some pictures of what I'm living with.

First floor coming up.
Such a good helper.
This is original floor that I painted red before the laminate, so this is second floor.
These next few pictures of what the kitchen was like before.

Now this is what the kitchen looks like today.

Third floor coming up.
Sub floor ready to go.
Sub floor gone.

I think Tigger has the right idea, Stay Out of the Kitchen.

See what fun it is at my house!

You Got To Love Them

Sunday, January 12, 2014

OK, I posted in one of my teams that I would blog about something funny that happened yesterday.

My hubby is not into eating right, exercising and all that goes with a healthy lifestyle, I say his loss. Well, things have changed!

About a month ago he bought 2 pair of jeans. Now he is short, like short, short, and all his pants have to be shortened. Did I mention he's short? I do not sew, never like to before and don't like to now. Let me clarify there is a difference of not liking to and not knowing how. My sewing machine is very cheap and made to repair a torn seam and things like that not hemming jeans. The place that used to do this went out of business so after finally finding someone that does this I dropped the jeans off. She said she would call when they were finished. A week ago she called and we picked them up.

OH My Goodness! They don't fit now, he gained so much weight since he bought them he can't wear them. He was fit to be tied! G'ding this and that and just carrying on.

He announces that he needs to start eating better and exercising. Now what I do doesn't seem so crazy, you have to understand when I started this journey in 2009 according to him I was fine I didn't need to change, yada, yada, yada.

This is where it gets funny or funnier. We have a standard poodle who is the poster dog for lazy. She lays down to eat, drink water, and if she could lay down to walk, but she hasn't figured out how to do that, I'm sure if it can be done she will. Yesterday was a very nice day and I said I was going to take the little poodle out for a walk and asked Joshua if he wanted to take Pandora (lazy) cause she does like to go, preferable riding in a pull cart, but none the less, she likes to go. Hubby says I want to go, you know I need to do something about this weight. He has gone on 1 walk with us ever, and, PJ you'll remember this, it was a 5K it took us 1.5 hours, and I didn't think he would make it then. Me being the good wife that I am said "sure."

The walk starts at a good rate Joshua has Pandora I have Tigger and off we go. We get almost to the rail road overpass which is around 1/3 mile from the house and he says I will have to turn around at the overpass, we were going to the park, which is another 1/3 of a mile. I said fine we can do that. Joshua wanted to go on so he handed Pandora off to hubby. I swear I saw the dog do this huge sigh of relief, cause she knew this walker would be traveling much slower. Not so much with the little one, he walks so fast to keep him from pulling the leash I have to jog, which I hate, I don't run, I walk fast, but I don't run. All in all it was a good walk, he got out and did something, I did the wogging thing. Pandora, well, she got home walked into the office plopped on the floor and didn't move for 6 hours.

I didn't ask if anyone wanted to go for a walk today. I figured Pandora would throw the leash at me and hubby would just give me a look. That's OK, Joshua and walked to church.

We'll see how long this got to get into shape lasts. Don't get me wrong I hope it does, but I'm not holding my breath. We've been married for 32 years so believe me I know the man.

Hope this gave you all a chuckle.

Get him on the elliptical!!! Of course, that might ruin his resolve to lose weight!! BTW, how are you doing on it? I can't keep up with my DH. So we don't do much walking together!!

PJSTIME 1/12/2014 6:11PM

That sounds like someone in my household. It isn't funny but until a doctor or something else scares the sh*t out of him nothing will change. But I would love for him to walk with me. He does if we are in a place with trails and he doesn't have the boat.

I'm not going to make any bets on how long your DH lasts just hope that it does. I can just see Pandora flopping down on the floor and probably giving a great big sigh.

A New Year Awaits

Wednesday, January 01, 2014

It took awhile but I did remember how this goes. LOL!!

So I'll share the new comer with y'all - his name is Tigger, he came with that not my pick. Supposedly the "little old lady" couldn't keep him because he was just tooooooo hyper. When I got to the house, well let me say this, old lady?, she was maybe three years older than me, hyper?, you see him on the couch, that's how he is unless we've been gone, then he's happy to see us, like all dogs. He is a funny little thing, he does a special dance when he wants to eat, and he rolls over and makes a grunting sound when he wants his belly rubbed.

We also have a new piece of equipment. We purchased an elliptical and in just a few minutes I will start my new routine. I also need to get back to Yoga. I was so busy with trips I couldn't go and when I wasn't busy she wasn't doing a class. Hopefully we can find a happy medium 'cause it is good for me.

The other thing that is happening this year is a new kitchen. We started tearing it up the other day, now not enough that I can't work, that will happen in a couple weeks when we are able to go get material. I'm excited I've been waiting on this kitchen for 10 years. What is that saying, "all good things come to those who wait", I think it should say to those who have the money! LOL!!

I'll share a little Christmas with you. Disclaimer for those of you who haven't seen "little" Joshua for a while; yes it's really him in the pictures!

getting started
have to have the sparkle
peacock on top
what did Dad get from Victoria's Secret
oh, gloves
so what's up
leather ball cap
dress hat for church, yes he really likes hats
what did mom get
something to cook in while the stove is gone
Joshua and his buddies
Merry Christmas everyone

Enjoy and have a great day!

Wonderful pics! Joshua looks so grown up ... where does time go?!?

Best wishes on the reno's. I'm looking forward to the pics.

WRT the elliptical - it's a killer at first but after that it's great emoticon and I hope you're able to work out a schedule with your yoga classes. There's something about that "boneless" feeling after a class that just can't be found elsewhere.

emoticon to 2014 ... may it only bring wonderful things for you and yours.

Love the new dog! Good luck with your kitchen. I'm going to do a new floor this year in mine plus some new appliances.

Love your new addition. Joshua has grown a lot. It is fun to think about all the fun things he is doing. Your new puppy really looks like a winner. Lucky you that he is too "hyper" to stay with the "old lady."

Love the idea of a new kitchen. Lots of work but so worth it in the end. Hope it doesn't take too long.

Have a wonderful year.
