New Job!

Yay! And boo-hoo all at the same time. I'm still adjusting and still missing old co-workers.

I was so excited to be working closer to home, but I'm already having doubts about this new company. Too soon to really know for sure. It's only been three weeks. But i may be job searching again soon. I'm glad to be adding to my resume skill set and seeing the inner workings of another company, but there is a major disconnect between my personal values and the companies.

I'm riding my bike more (especially to work), and my hip is very happy compared to running. I've had no pains for many weeks.

Our CSA started last week. We are really enjoying the herb garden at the farm, where we can pick as much as we like each week. I've been having fresh mint mixed into protein smoothies. Yum!

Tomorrow i'll be singing with my town chorus in a small concert. It's been great meeting a few more locals. I just love running into people i know around town, and this has been another fun step to build contact with our "new" community.

My weight is back down to my Spark starting weight. And I started tracking my food again today. I think the added activity of biking is making me want to eat more at dinners. The rest of the days have been very healthy and in control. Day by day I'm still trying to build habits I can live with for a lifetime.

    I hope that the new job works out or you can find something more suitable. It sounds like you are at least getting some good exercise in by biking to work.

We don't have a CSA here. We are going to get a new market place though.

The first real Spring days!

First, no more finger splint!! Yay! But it looks like the job search is going to have to go into overdrive! Which is kinda cool. I'm very ready for a change.

Friday rocked! I went to the dump, took the dogs for a long walk, donated platelets, did an important/helpful weekday errand for the hubs, got an estimate for a retaining wall along our street, picked up hubby for dinner, tipped a new waiter 100% for being his first customers, caught up with some friends we almost never see, and then finished the day watching another close friend play an acustic set at a Boston club.

Saturday we enjoyed spring skiing, watched crazy folks do a pond skim, and took very long naps when we got home.

Sunday was another long walk with the dogs. In the afternoon we had lunch with my hubby's paternal grandmother to celebrate her 94th birthday. (and also proud of myself for slipping into a smaller sized pair of pants and not overeating at the buffet. WooHoo!) And in the evening we babysat for a friend's 18 month old and I put out some job applications.

This week is a trail of food moderation. Last night and tonight we are enjoying dinners cooked by friends. And Friday we are going out for dinner at a pub (hello, fried everything!). I am determined to behave myself and keep my lifestyle goals in mind.

I have been feeling much better physically since focusing on limiting my simple carbs. And the extra walking I have doing at lunch seems to really be helping my hip feel better.

I am off to a great start this spring. Change is definitely in the air!!!!!!!!! :)

    I'm glad the splint is gone but can't figure out what is wrong with the idiots that are not making an effort to keep you at your job. It's their loss!!

It sounds like you are doing great - leading a very balanced life in every area!

Yay for a short work week!

And Yay for doing well shifting my eatting habits. My cravings for sugar are already greatly deminished. And I am feeling more energized.

Today I have the best of hopes that I will see a major salary adjustment (only 3 - 4 years overdue). If not, th ejob search kicks into a higher gear.

Also, the best of hope my broken finger will be give the A-OK by the hand doc. 8 weeks in a splint has been rough. I've actually learned to touch type with only two fingers on my right hand and all four on left and hopeing I break that habit quick.

Really gave my stone wall garden a good eye-balling today. Lots of work to be done there this summer. The wood the previous owners used to hold back part of the hill has finally rotted and I'll need to extend the stones somehow.

And I really want to put in some plants with historic value. Got to catch the neighbors and find out if their grandmother had some favorites. If not, I'll have to hit the history books and find out what was popular in the 1890's when the house was built.

And oh so looking forward to a walk with my dogs this afternoon. The days are finally getting warmer and clearer.

    I sure hope that the job situation works out for you and that you get your splint off soon. I once had splints on 2 fingers. Not fun!!

Hubby and I have tons of work piling up outside and have got to get busy soon. We have rotten porches and rotten wood and something needs done.

Where is Spring?

Spring here in New England seems to be visiting about one day a week. I'd love for it to decided to stay. i want to get out and work in my flower gardens and clean up the yard. This blanket of snow needs to go!

My food journal is going well. I've decided to take other notes about how I'm feeling through the day, too. Maybe I'll discover the causes of some of triggers for the less lovely moments my body experiences.

This weekened I tried making parsnip cookies again. With great success. Funny that taking out the chocolate chips made hubby like them more. He and two guy friends killed the batch by the end of the day. Not the best idea, but they didn't have lunch... so whatever.

Saw my mom and gave her a little quilted pillow she asked me to make, matching a quilt from a friend. I was very glad to see her and visit a little

Spending a nice amount of time with my hubs. There were several weeks where a hardly saw him and we are trying to get back on track. Yesterday we did a walk together and babysat a friends 18 moth old together. Tonight Hubby and I have a date to clean up some of his junk collecting areas. I'll try some before and after pictures to motive us to do more of these home improvement date nights.

    I agree about Spring. I'm sick of snow and winter.

Sounds like things are going well with you. I think couples should spend most of their free time together.

I have been doing some experiments to fond out what triggers me too. I'm learning a lot.

The quilted pillow sounds really neat!

A burst of activity

I did start my food journal last night! Just have to keep doing it one day at a time.

And I've set my first goal. Decide to eat ONLY one level 5 (junk) food per day. And to record those calories in the journal. Seems like a good place to start. And will remove lots of guilt, extra servings, and give me "choices".

Last night I also went shopping and stocked up on foods! Packing lunch for today required a lot less creativity. I'm trying out boxed chocolate soy milk as an after lunch treat. I'll call it level 3 since it is sweetened, but much better than a chocolate bar at level 5.

And two big annual tasks done. Car inspection and taxes filed!!! yay! (and got two nice little texts this mornign that the fed and state both accepted my returns and I'll be getting money soon. Awww, how I love the digital age soemtimes!

No exercise happened last night, but I'm OK with that. I'm feeling good about how I spent my day and looking forward to this evening and my date with the Total Gym and elliptical.

    I certainly hope our accountant is doing our taxes. We have not heard from him.

Our spring is not going well. We are in a winter storm warning today. May get 6 inches of snow. ugh!
