Here's to trying new things and living in the moment!
Happy New Year!

I read a question from a team member and thought I would share my answer with you. Over the last few months, I have read so many questions where it is obvious people have no idea how comprehensive this site really is! If you don't know nutrition this place is for you. Use it and learn! You just need to spend a little time exploring and reading the articles! I promise, it works!
Are you tracking your food? Do you know that the resources go way beyond calories? Well, if you are, great! If not, here are some easy directions. Either way, it's a reminder for you today to check your nutritional stats.
"Go to your Food tracker, and record everything you eat! AND, use the buttons!
Look right under the date and you'll see a drop down menu button "tracker options". click that and choose "change diet settings" Here you will see the suggested guidelines to follow! and when you figure out what works best for you, you can even adjust them to your preferences or add extra fields to monitor. I also monitor sodium, calcium and fiber.
Then, use the daily feedback button which is right next to the tracker options. It will show you if you are meeting your goals, over or under!
On the right column, at the bottom of your daily food tracker, there is a reports button that shows you the exact breakdown of everything you ate that day. It's good sometimes to be able to see individual food stats while you are honing your nutrition skills!
I can't say enough about using the incredible tools they give you here! Seriously, this is so comprehensive, more than I have ever gotten from any other site. Use them, and you will see results.
For an average female like me with 25-50 lbs to lose, it tells me
I usually average 45-50% carb/25-30% fat/20-25% protein
average 1200-1550 calories
80 grams of protein
150 grams of carbs
30-50 grams of fat
25 grams of fiber is my daily goal, so if I eat all 25 regularly, that means I'm getting all my fruits and vegis and I lose weight.
When I look at my report and didn't eat all my fruits and vegis, I am ALWAYS over on carbs and usually on fat too! When I do eat at least 5 servings, I lose weight...magic! It's easy to figure out why I'm not losing when I use these tools. So, eat your vegis!"

How am I doing? hee hee hee
...Ok, ok, ok, ok....so, my best friend came from out of town to go to a dog show and she asked if I wanted to go along. Naturally, you can imagine I had nothing to wear!!!!
She forced me to go to TJMAXX. We never made it to Ross, but I have to say it was so great to finally see some cute clothes back on the racks after a few years of duds.
I have lost 15 lbs now and my size 14s are literally falling off and I can almost pull off the 12s too! Suddenly, the fear of trying on new (transitional) clothes melted away as I tried on cute top after cute top! I bought a bag full of clothes, something like 7 completely cute sexy gorgeous me tops and 2 pairs of late Summer pants. I am done with size 14, and I'm nearly completely out of 12s too!! So, I will be bringing lots of clothes to the swap for all of you beautiful transitional ladies!
My MF thanked my best friend for making me spend money on clothing and asked if she could come back every month to make sure I continue to treat myself. He saw that I was happy that I looked and felt so good about myself!
My smile is back. I feel beautiful and sexy and even though I am nowhere near my goal, I can finally say it's ok to be my best me right now!
I am so proud of me and I am so proud of all of you for coming every day and taking one step at a time.
Wish me luck as I will be spending the entire week at this dog show, and eating every meal out! As usual, I will take each meal as a choice to enjoy my company and the experience, and know that eating out doesn't have to mean bad choices!
I feel pretty! See lyrics to West Side Story's song Maria for all of us! http://www.westsidestory.com/site/level2/l

WOOT WOOT WOOT WOOT!!! I AM DOING IT!!! I CAN SUCCEED!
OMG!!!! Yea BABY, yea!
I'm so happy to report that today is my 8th week of my "forever" commitment to myself and my body and after 8 full weeks (back) on Sparkpeople, I weighed in this morning at exactly 15 lbs lost!
It's no miracle, I read every article I can on sparkpeople and all my emails. I track everything I eat, for better or for worse. I probably give the most credit to monitoring my nutritional reports and feedback daily to see I am going over in areas and where I'm defiicient. I try to do this when I planning all my food for the day so that I know exactly what I am going to eat and can tweak the menu to get enough fat, protein, carbs and fiber. I have even added sodium and calcium to the feedback to ensure I am covering the bases! I have a Weight Watchers background, so I am already good with understanding portions and nutrition, but this site has taken it so much further than I thought I would go, and I'm learning all the time!
Another major help has been Spark people! Reading the blogs here, supporting and being supported by you is absolutely invaluable and I'll be the first to say it empowers me to keep going. I've started spreading the Spark, too, because I want others to feel this good.
2 months ago, I thought, geez, it's going to take sooo long to lose 40 lbs., it seems like forever. but, every week that goes by with a positive change is an improvement that really does add up! Taking it slow gives me the power to believe I will achieve!
My next goal is another 5 lbs. and I'm going to continue to take it slow and steady. It really isn't a race, it's my life, and I will get there and STAY there!
Thank you to each and every person reading this today, because you are the one helping me reach my goals!
Remember, today, you have a brand new clean slate, forget about yesterday, just focus on what you do with your moment now and don't worry about what you cannot control.
