Been a while

Friday, January 18, 2008

Hey there everyone. It's been a while since I have made a post here in my journal blog. I did get home ok from the vacation. The trip back home was a long one but I did make it safe. Almost hit a deer on the drive back from memphis. That scared the mess out of me!

I have been kinda busy since being back home so I haven't had much time for everything computer wise. I have been doing a great deal of thinking about goals for this year. One of my goals is to actually better manage my time on the computer. I spend way too many hours on this thing so I am in the process of figuring out which things I can weed out to lessen my time on line to make more time for other activities.

I was almost going to drop sparkpeople but I think that I have decided to keep it in the fold, so to speak. I'm not quite ready to give it up yet. :o) But I am going to have to learn to manage my time better on the computer. There are some things that I am going to have to let go. My brain has become over-saturated with info.

It will probably take me a couple of weeks to get everything sorted out and to get back to sparks on a regular basis.

    ~Mark~
I understand all too well about spending too much time on the computer. As I read that you were thinking of quitting Spark...I had a knot in my stomach, because I was thinking that was maybe one of the things I could cut back on, too.
But then I remembered it was "you" who got me interested in joining and even trying to lose weight, and you've been a big inspiration. I'd hate for you to leave, because it would make my reasons for staying less, too.
I have found out I have pitting edema, and my legs, ankles and feet are so swollen I can't get any shoes on. I think this is my 'last' shot at weight loss that is positive, before I succumb to a heart attack.
I am so scared, but I 'try' because of the friends that are on here, and the great person who inspired me to join in the first place. I don't come on and post that often. It only takes a short time every so often. Please, if you have to cut back...don't let it be Sparks?
Blessings,
~Diana Lynn~

The 2007 Angel Card Project!

Friday, November 16, 2007

One of the reasons I have been so absent from my blog lately is because I have been working on a major charity project that I do every year. It's called The Angel Card Project.

The project is basically where we get volunteers to sign up to send Christmas cards to folks who are sick, elderly, lonely, depressed or who just generally need cheering up during the holidays.

It's a great project and this is my seventh year doing it. It is mainly for people in yahoo groups but I always like to extend an invitation out to anyone who wants to participate. You can also submit names of folks you think would like to receive cards.

So that is why I have been so shy lately. :o)

Here is the link:

ngelcardproject

If you folks reading my blog would please do me a favor, spread the link around and get the word out for me about the project. I would really like this year to be a big success. Send it to all your friends and buddies and any one you think would like to participate. And then of course, tell them to spread the word too!! :o)

Thanks ya'll.

Going to Montana

Thursday, November 08, 2007

Ok, so I know that I am way behind on my blog here. Things have been hectic crazy for me here lately.

I am going to be going to Montana for the holidays to spend them with mom. We havne't seen each other in nearly three years so this is an exciting trip for me!!

We had originally talked about me coming in December but mom decided she wanted me there for my birthday this month. So I am going to be leaving thanksgiving day and staying up there til after the first of the year. YAY!!!

I haven't had any kind of vacation in about 10 years, so this is much needed.

What does one do in Montana for over a month?

mom said that her husband has offered to buy her a treadmill so she can walk in the winter. She has to walk because of her fibro and her knees. I told her she needed to get one so it would be there when I get up there. :o)

You know Mark you can manage things up there. Celebrate! But keep in your mind your goals. Let mama know your goals too! This way she is aware of it when she shops etc. Eat but don't over do it. Drink your water, and yes walk if you're able to outside. If it snows where you are get out there, stomp around, shovel snow, etc. There are things you can do to keep moving. If you keep these things in mind you won't gain back what you have lost so far. I hope you'll still pop in here and let us know how you are doing :) We need our ScutterFix :)

I fear that my weight loss will suffere while I am up there. It is the holidays and it's the first time I have seen mom in a long while, so I am sure there will be plenty of celebrating.

But of course there are tons of mountains up there so maybe I could hike every day.

I wonder if moose eat humans?

~WAY TO GO...MARK!!! Guess we both got surprised in 2 days! I think you making your video and letting everyone see and hear you has been a great big motivator for this gal ;-) I don't know if I would have the courage to be in the spotlight yet. I could talk behind the scenes, though. I am so very proud of you! Personally I think the 2 Hot Pockets are fine for your supper. I had a McDonald's Cheeseburger yesterday and a couple of french fries. And the day before that...I counted the calories for 1 cup of ice cream! That's my downfall. Oh...I'm blowing hugs your way. Everyone here that loses a pound or 2 or "10"...spurs me on just that much more! Keep it up, dear friend. We're all behind you, as everyone is behind me and to everyone in Spark!!!

An excellent discovery!

Sunday, October 14, 2007

I just got in from a really wonderful, terrific walk in the woods. I've been noticing that bella has been getting weaker and it's harder for her to get around these days. Age induced. And well, let's face it, my ole hips have been killing me. So went for a walk in the woods.

My neighbors land borders ours and my uncles and the back part of it is all woods. Back behind his property is land that is now used for a hunt club. There is an old service road that was used for loggers back there but I have to be careful about being back there with bella because of snakes in the summer and being shot in the winter (deer/rabbit hunters).

As I was walking today, I discovered that neighbor man has cut a four-wheeler path all the way around his property for his little boy. It's just wide enough for a wheeler and it's all wooded and that makes for an excellent walking trail. I have always been really intimidated about working out in front of anyone else in any form. I always feel like their making fun of the fat guy. So this is wondermous because it's completely secluded from anyone and I can walk without having to worry about what folks are saying about me. :o) Plus it gives me the opportunity to be out in nature, which I love, so it's ubber peaceful.

This gives me much more incentive now to get off my duff and get my big ass back in shape. I'm stoked!!

Man, in a years time, I am gonna be so HOT!!

*giggle*

That's fantastic that you have discovered a place where you feel comfortable walking. I like to stay close to home and walk. I have a path around my huge graveled parking area that I walk. I'm on my own property and don't have to worry about encountering other people. Hugs, Shirley
