Calories Eaten: WAY OVER my range

Did the elliptical first thing in the morning, but still too cold to walk the dogs. The vet thinks Anwen just bruised a bone or strained her one leg when she was slipping on the ice the other week and didn't give it a chance to heal. So, she's given her some anti-inflamatories and said that she shouldn't be walked for the next four days. Poor baby!

Well, I completely blew yesterday as far as eating was concerned. As usual, I did fine during the day, but caved when my DH decided we had to finish off all the Christmas baking because it was taking up too much room in the little freezer we have. Even as I write that, it sounds like SUCH a lame excuse.

The fact is, though, that it's done now; and there's no point crying over spilt Christmas baking. I'm just going to have to make sure today is extra active to try to make up for it. The temperature is supposed to rise today, so I'll take Nia for a walk even if Anwen can't come. Hopefully, that, along with the elliptical, should make a dent in yesterday's indiscretion.

Calories Eaten: 9 calories OVER my range

I was going great yesterday until I succumbed to my DH's offer of coconut M & M's late in the evening. I'm still only 9 calories over - not exactly a binge - but I'm mad at myself for doing that when I knew it would set me over my limit.

Put in my half hour on the elliptical yesterday, but it was too cold to walk the dogs AGAIN. Poor little Anwen is developing a bit of a limp. I'm not sure if it has to do with the cold weather or if it's something else, so I'm going to make an appointment at the vet's.

Aww poor Anwen! And poor you with the horrible cold :( Don't beat yourself up over 9 calories, it's simply not worth it. Sometimes a little bit of what you fancy does you good.

Calories Eaten: WITHIN my range

I had a tougher time than usual staying within my calorie range yesterday. I did it, but I wanted to eat more - not because I was truly hungry; just because I "felt like it." Fortunately, I thought twice every time that feeling hit. Sometimes I gave in, but chose a healthy snack like a granola bar or a piece of fruit; and towards the end of the evening I just said, "No" to myself. So, it was hard, but I did alright.

I spent half an hour on the elliptical in the morning, but didn't get any other exercise through the day. The wind was blowing so hard all day that it was snowing SIDEWAYS! (It still is as I write this.) So, there was no dog walking happening.

That's probably why I was feeling like snacking all day. I know I'm an emotional eater, and I find the winters here depressing at the best of times; but the weather we've had over the past month is really starting to wear on me. I'm also starting to feel fairly overwhelmed with work right now.

Oh well - I can't change the weather, but I can try to put a dent in this pile of work. I'm sure that will make me feel better.

Oh, Zosbos, I only wish spring was just around the corner. Unfortunately, you live on a shorter "street" than I do.

We won't see spring here until April or possibly even May.

There's the attitude! We all know how hard it is to stay in our calorie ranges when the snack attacks happen, and I agree there's little like a snowy day for making you want to just curl up with all the stodgy/sugary/starchy food you can find - and you sure have a lot of those snowy days! So good for you; you keep on making those awesome choices.

Well done for staying on track with your calories.
I hope you get a break in the weather soon - spring is just around the corner!

Calories Eaten: WITHIN my range

I think this healthy lifestyle is starting to become a habit. Yesterday, I woke up feeling achey all over and thought that this would be a good day to take my one day per week off exercise. I still stayed within my calorie range, though.

While I was watching The Biggest Loser, though, I started feeling really guilty for sitting on my behind while those people worked out and changed their lives. So, I spent the last 20 minutes of the show running in place, doing squats, and doing weights with my arms. So much for my "day off."

In retrospect, though, I'm glad I did it. I felt much more content knowing that I'd done it.

Awesome. I agree, it's getting to be a habit for me too. I'm here, tired and irritable, waiting for dinner to go down enough that I can get my workout done tonight before bed. I really don't want to. I'll feel crappy if I don't though!

Calories Eaten: WITHIN my range

Yesterday was a very good day for staying active and on plan for eating. I did half an hour on the elliptical in the morning and walked the dogs two miles in the afternoon.

I was quite pleased with myself last night. My DH brought some snacks downstairs as we were watching television, but I knew I was too close to the top of my calorie range to eat them. So, I just thanked him, but said that I couldn't eat that and didn't.

This is a bit of a victory for me, because I often make it safely to the end of my day and with the best intentions of keeping it that way; but then I cave when he brings me something. I guess I feel that it was nice of him to think of me, so I don't want to hurt his feelings; but, after all, he wasn't bringing me a diamond necklace. It was a muffin - he'll survive!
