Just 5 pounds to go....then what?

I have less than 2 weeks to get down to my goal weight before going on vacation, but then I realized.....then what? Will I miraculously stay at my goal weight during my entire vacation? No, it just means that I reached my goal the day I left but what's the scale going to read when I come home? I can blame the heat and humidity for my clothes not fitting right, but I know that it's living the vacation lifestyle that's going to sneak the pounds right back on. The best I can do is to stay as active as possible and make the best choices when it comes to food and beverages. Wish me luck!

    You can try to add a few things to the vacation lifestyle that mesh with a healthy lifestyle.

One is more activity - rather than just lounging by a pool, get in the water and swim; rather than riding around in a rented car, rent a bike and pedal your way to less accessible sights; and so on.

Another is portion control. It only takes a few bites to savor and appreciate a food or drink. Nothing has to be emptied, no plate has to be cleaned. Better to take two bites and really remember how good it was than to wolf it down and only remember that you had it.

Another is minimizing any alcohol. Let the freedom and the fun and the sun and the locale give you a "buzz". Who wants to spend their mornings on vacation feeling bleh and miserable - from alcohol or from the excess eating while inhibitions are lowered?

Tomorrow I go shopping for a new bathing suit. My vacation is only a few short weeks away and I know standing in the dressing room under those flourescent lights wearing a bathing suit is the best motivator there is!!!!!

Last October I got "The Biggest Loser Challenge" for Wii for my birthday and have been doing the workouts every day ever since. Well, with the occasional missed day here and there. For Christmas I received "EA Sports Active 2" and boy did I feel a difference the first time I used it. For about a week after using it for the first time, the muscles in the backs of my arms were really sore. I guess I hadn't used those muscles in a while. It was a good wake up call to realize that even though I think I'm getting a well rounded workout, it's a good idea to rotate different routines.

  


I gained 4 lbs this week!!!!!!

Really? Four pounds in one week? And it's not even Thanksgiving yet? I knew I had fallen off the food wagon a bit this week, but four pounds worth? I gotta step up my game.

    I bet part of it is sodium & water retention. Drink lots of water and hop back on the wagon!

I missed my morning workout....and I really do miss it.

We had lots of things planned for today, an it started with meeting friends for breakfast. I REALLY didn't want to get up to an alarm on a Saturday morning, so I made the decision to forfeit my morning workout. At least we got all of our errands done, but my workouts have become such a part of my daily routine that I really miss it. I'll just have to make up for it tomorrow!
