Almost 2 weeks later and I'm still "normal"?

Wow, I must say I'm feeling quite motivated. I mixed up my excersize routine and it seems to have made a difference. Instead of doing 2-3 very long workouts in a week, I'm now working out every day for about 15-20 minutes. It's gotten me out of my slump and I've shedded those extra 5 pounds I couldn't seem to lose. So if you've hit a plateau, you might want to give that a try.

"That's Normal"

About once a week or so I use my Wii Fit to weigh in, but the strangest thing happened this morning. When it was measuring my BMI the little automated voice didn't say "that's overweight" (which I hear so often that I block it out), it said "that's normal". Hmmm, did I actually lose enough weight to be back in the normal range? I was beginning to think I would never hear that I was at a normal weight. But hey, I think this is worth celebrating!!!!!

Getting back to my passion for diving!

For any of you folks who are scuba certified, I'm sure you can understand what I mean. My sister has been my long time dive buddy and the last few times we've been diving she's been nervous and slightly panicked. The last time we went diving was in Catalina last May. Only about 10 minutes into the dive her fin came off and that was it for her - she wanted to surface and end the dive. Well, I've talked her into going diving with me at the end of this month. At this point, I don't even care if we're only under water for a short amount of time as long as I'm diving. Although this just may be the last time that we go together, so I need to search for a new "buddy".

But back to my main reason for this post......the thought of squeezing into my wetsuit is the best possible motivation I can think of. At one point several years ago I had gotten up to about 175 lbs and had a really tough time wriggling into that thing. I'm sure it had to be quite entertaining for everyone else on the beach, watching me pull and tug and pull and tug. It must have taken me 30 minutes to get suited up - talk about a calorie burner! Whew, I don't want to go through that ever again....and I certainly don't want to buy a bigger wetsuit!

Now that I have a goal to shoot for and the motivation to do it I think I may just work my way out of this plateau is seem to have hit. I can't wait til I'm blowing bubbles underwater once again!

I GAINED Weight?????

I've just weighed myself and was shocked to see that I've gained 2.5 lbs in the last 3 weeks. What????? How can that be? I'm drinking lots of water, logging everything that I put in my mouth and tracking all my exercise. My clothes are fitting better and I've lost about an inch and a half in my overall measurements. I know, I know, muscle weighs more than fat, but I'm not building any muscle. I'm hoping that I'm just retaining a little water. Will drinking more water help to flush it out of my system? I'll try not to stress out about it too much. I'll give it a couple of days and weigh myself again on Thursday to see if there's any change. I mean to see how much weight I've lost. Gotta stay positive!

    I am reading The Spark. Downie just said that the scale is not the only tool to focus on. Take other measurements. It sounds like if your clothes feel better, you are doing fine. Just keep going.

A Hard Time Staying On Track

I don't know if it's a mental block or just the thought of wanting to lose weight, but lately I want to eat all the time. Maybe it's the warm weather....every time I turn around someone is having some sort of get together or barbecue. Food is all around me and I find certain things really hard to pass up. I'm not a big fan of the sweets (thank goodness) but I have a weakness for anything salty, crispy, or cooked on a grill. Can I get over this hump? Isn't the motivation of fitting into my previously too tight clothes enough? Maybe I just need to drink a big glass of water and go for a walk.

    I like the idea about the water and the walk. Keep your goals in front of you, especially your weight loss goals.
