A Hard Time Staying On Track

I don't know if it's a mental block or just the thought of wanting to lose weight, but lately I want to eat all the time. Maybe it's the warm weather....every time I turn around someone is having some sort of get together or barbecue. Food is all around me and I find certain things really hard to pass up. I'm not a big fan of the sweets (thank goodness) but I have a weakness for anything salty, crispy, or cooked on a grill. Can I get over this hump? Isn't the motivation of fitting into my previously too tight clothes enough? Maybe I just need to drink a big glass of water and go for a walk.

    I like the idea about the water and the walk. Keep your goals in front of you, especially your weight loss goals.

An Early Milestone

I joined Sparkpeople only eight days ago and I'm already seeing a small but significant difference. I was able to put on my favorite shorts that I haven't been able to squeeze into for the last two summers. Every once in a while, when I'm feeling "skinny", I would take them out of the drawer and try them on. I haven't been able to wear them since the summer of 2008, and now they actually fit again! The scale doesn't really show any difference so maybe it's all the extra water I'm drinking? Who cares, I'm just happy to be back in my "party pants" (that's the nickname my husband gave this particular pair of shorts because they're so cute!). I think I'll wear them on Saturday when I go to my in-laws for a barbecue.

I also took my measurements this morning and posted them. Now I at least have a starting point. I would like to lose an inch in my waist, hips and thighs by August 1st....wish me luck!

A New Day

Yesterday was the 4th of July. It was lot's of fun, but I'm so glad it's over. We had family over for a barbeque and there was just way too much food. It's tough to stay on track on days like that. We prepared healthier options for snacks and I opted for water instead of beer or wine. I'm kind of proud of myself for that. I even managed to go for a mile and a half walk with my sister in law. Even though it was close to 100 degrees outside, it was still nice to get out and get moving.

The cable guy was showing up between 8:00am and 12:00 noon and he promptly showed up at 8:15am, but that meant I didn't have time to get in my workout this morning. Bummer!

I'm still not sure if there's a specific day I'm supposed to weigh in, so maybe I'll do that on Friday. I'll also take my measurements and add them to my weight tracker.

  


Back on track

I had a great workout this morning and now I'm ready to face the world. I even splurged on a cute new pair of sandals today. Well, I didn't exactly splurge....they were only $9.00, but they're comfy and I want to take them out for a spin around the neighborhood. That'll be good since I don't come anywhere near 10,000 steps a day.

  


A snag already?

Here it is, only day 2 and I've already hit a snag. I got up this morning all set to put on my workout gear, but every bit of it was in the hamper. So instead I jumped in the shower and got ready to start my day. Am I already looking for excuses? Hmmmm, perhaps. Especially considering that was almost 8 hours ago and I haven't done the laundry yet. Okay, time to get it in gear. At least I'll have some steps to log at the end of the day!

    Thanks Skywatcherrs and Rosalieesther! As soon as I posted my blog I did my laundry and now I'm back on track. I think that's what's important about posting a blog, it forces me to admit my failures and excuses. But I'm back on track now and had a great workout yesterday and today. Ahhhhh, I feel invigorated!

    I'm with Skywalkers. Or as Nike says, just do it. Plus use this as a lesson opportunity. We've got to focus in order to meet our goals. Planning was a big change for me. my husband doesn't want me making noise in the mormon, si I've got to get prepared the night before. Helps mer get out that door.

Tomorrow is another day.

    I've failed to do laundry before and when confronted with missing a workout OR wearing dirty workout clothes, I chose dirty workout clothes. Who will care? You're just going to sweat in them (again), right?

Point being, if you want something, you'll find a way. If you don't, you'll find an excuse.

Don't allow those excuses.
