Did fairly well this week considering you could cut the air with a knife and it was hotter than hell.
Monday--- I proceeded to increase to 12run/3walk for 2 intervals. Well it went ok. After minute 8 of the 2nd 12 minutes the run turned brutal. The breeze was on vacation, sweat was dripping in my eyes, and I had a cramp in my butt (don't ask me how that happened). I expected to have some trouble...not the butt cramp though. So like I've done for all the previous increases.....I became the little engine that could. I think I can...I think I can...I think I can. Setting my sights on smaller goals....making it to that mailbox...oh there's a crack in the road surely I can make it there....and finally the 12 minute buzzer went off and I made it.
Wednesday---I prefer to go first thing in the morning, but I had an early meeting so I had to postpone it until after work. Certainly not ideal conditions...93 degrees...105 heat index...and humidity up the ying yang. But I was determined to get something in. So away I went. Armed with my water bottle and sweatband (which I learned from Monday's experience). I was lookin good
Well I did my 5 minute warm-up walk and did make my 12 minute run, but then I had to head back home. So I walked the rest of the way back. It was just too hot, sticky and thick. Disappointed I couldn't make it farther, but proud of myself for even going out. Thinking a treadmill might not be a bad idea.
Today---Was a pleasure. I didn't get any running in, but I had a marvelous walk and talk with DeAnna. It was wonderful to catch up.
Tomorrow---I will get up early and hit the road before it gets too hot. I'm looking forward to seeing how that second 12 minute run goes....I'd like to shoot for 3 intervals. We'll see. I am really enjoying this which surprises me a little. I just hope I don't lose this momentum once the 5K is over.
