Seeing changes

My seven year old nephew is staying with us this weekend. Usually that would mean that I would forgo my exercise routine for a few days. Instead today I invited him to join me for my 45 minute toning and strength training DVD. He started out great but dropped out after about 15 or 20 minutes. I kept going and he was pretty patient while I finished up. I am thinking we may get a chance to run around with a soccer ball tomorrow or take a walk to the park or nature preserve near my house.

I am amazed that I am celebrating these little non weight loss related victories with as much excitement as pounds lost. emoticon

Not what I expected .... but nice anyway

Today didn't turn out the way it was planned but it was nice anyway.

Started out with a massage.

A friend were supposed to drive down from upper Michigan with her 7 y-o. My nephew also 7 is here for the weekend. Ice and snow prevented my friend from coming but hubby and I had a fun evening with our nephew anyway. He is a great kid, we played games and laughed and laughed and laughed. I am looking forward to more of the same tomorrow and Sunday!

Same Old Same Old

Do you ever feel like your days are all the same? A couple of times this week I have had that thought. Here's my life;

get up
go to work
go to the gym
eat dinner
watch a movie with hubby or play on the computer
go to bed

repeat

repeat

repeat

repeat

Weekends vary a bit but there is routine to them as well.

Two things occur to me as I write this; 1. that I have the power to break out of my routine in the evenings after work, 2. that routine is not necessarily a bad thing.

I think I may just be in a bit of a slump waiting and hoping for Spring to finally get here in Michigan. Not happening today! Windy, rainy and high about 40.

Ah well tomorrow is a new day and a break in my routine, I am not working since I worked both Saturday and Sunday last weekend. So I guess I will stop whining now.

    We're having the same old routine of winter never ending. I've thought of breaking out of my routine by finally breaking out my exercise DVDs instead of waiting until the weather gets back to normal. It's hard not to whine but it'll make the spring even sweeter when it finally does come.

    Some weeks "DO" feel like...same o same o. ....shake it up a bit...can you go to the gym before work?? My daughter goes at 5:00 a/m and has to be to work at 7:15.

Who is determined to get a daily workout in no matter what? Who is the person who isn't always looking for the closest parking space? Who is the person who walked in her living room while watching a movie with her hubby so that she could get her 10,000 steps in today. Who is the person who has worked out more than once a day several times this week? Who is the person who upped her monthly fitness minute goals because she had already reached her initial goal before the 10th of the month. I am more surprised than anyone, to report that it's me!!

I am so grateful to have so much energy this week!

Drinking more!

Okay, didn't mean to freak you all with my blog title but I did get your attention, didn't I? Well the truth is that I am drinking a LOT more since I started SparkPeople 30 days ago. I just can't seem to get enough refreshing water. It was much more of a chore to get my 8 glasses in 30 days ago. But now most days I am drinking 8-12 glasses pretty easily. In part because I drink more when I work out and I am definitely working out more. In part because I am more aware of EVERYTHING that I need and want to do to be fit and healthy and drinking water is part of that plan. Oh and don't forget that I can earn SparkPoints by drinking 8 glasses of water daily. Bottoms up everyone! emoticon

    I'm amazed how drinking enough water makes the difference in whether I eat or not. I eat a snack sometimes then realize I forgot my water. Doh!

    I notice the difference in the total functioning of my body with how much water I am drinking, it makes a BIG impact on it!
