Today is my birthday, the big 5-0.
My fitness goal for this summer is to stay on track with loosing and exercising and staying on the healthy eating. Been doing the best consistency wise since a couple years back when I first started SP. I was hoping to be below 240 when I weigh in tomorrow but ate way more calories than I should tonight so it will be close though Ive been pretty good this week and a lot of cardio.

Had fun with my 13 yr old son on a bikeride earlier today, he took me on some routes he takes with his friends, through neighborhoods and friends and it reminded me when i was 13 except I never did anything like that with my parents and was in the summer of becoming more of the rebellious teen. Im glad im close with my son.

For a treat for myself tonight I got a lite frappuccino with 2 shots of espresso from Starbucks.

My 16 yr old daughter is away in ME with her friends family so I miss her big time but we talked several times and will again tonight. just need to

I'm disappointed that my recent cardio and staying the course hasn't had me loosing weight as fast as a couple years ago but I keep telling myself to give it the summer.

My bones are achy from arthritis. And though the biking should be helping my knees I think the humidity is hurting them. that also is disappointing but still telling myself to keep going.

Trying the make a change in my job which is hard and trying to use my exercise to help with moving on. I still of course have my job. I just need to make more mula. and I really want a change so I am thinking my mantra "change is good for the brainge."

I am however happy with my recent consistency the past couple months and my cholesterol and glucose levels are good. I'm still in better health and shape than a few years ago and probably for a good part of my 40's.

So I'm going to try to keep celebrating my bday this month in little ways. We'll go out as a family on Sat. to our favorite Margaritas. Next week I get to see my fav band Furthur (members of grateful dead) not so far from my house. And I'm playing a lot of music this summer myself. My brother gave me a gift certificate to guitar center to help me get a cool boss looping pedal for my performing. (I perform concerts for kids). Haven't had a new piece of equipment in a long time.

And that is my big 5-0 update.

Oh HECK! I'm late to the party! Congrats on your big year! Definitely a time to take stock in our life and nudge things even more toward what we want to accomplish...sounds like that's what you're doing!

Dead fan from way back too...especially those long, extended jams...that was what got me pointed in the direction of jazz way back in the day.

Hope you have some AWESOME times this month!

Biking with your boy, an outing with the family, and a concert. Wow! That's pretty nice.

Summer Fitness

Sunday, July 01, 2012

After a couple hard months of crazy work and stuff I suffered from a lack of exercise and stretching. Definitely feel the lag. However for the past week as Ive been on my summer schedule (teach during school year/play guitar in summer) I knew i would get back into it. Even after 4 or so days of hitting the YMCA doing cardio and stretching and some weights I feel better.

I wrenched my back planting a garden at school with the kids and the past 3 weeks have been hard with that especially nights. worse back pain in a while and lasted longer than the usual 3 days. So with the xtra stretching and exercise i think its helped and feels much better.

So my goal is to keep it up strongly for the next month and see where Ive gotten then continue from there.

Immediate goal is to curb my late night eating and overeating at dinner. Thats my big weakness. Breakfast and during the day is generally ok.

I recommend yoga. Seriously, yes, yoga. There are quite a few positions that will help stretch and strengthen the back. I recommend taking a couple of classes to get comfortable, then there are, oh, I don't know, 2 MILLION DVD's to choose from.... emoticon

Get bendy!

Day 6 and 7 Nutrition Challenge

Monday, October 24, 2011

I did my week challenge of logging my food. I didn't get everything from today and yesterday logged into Spark but I have it all written down. For the most part it went well. I may have eaten a little bit extra chicken tonight.... Favorite meal chicken quesadillas so I ate a lot of salad first.

Last night was a bit tough, my daughter woke up not feeling well around midnight so I needed to be up with her for a while, which caused some stress, which caused me to eat. fairly healthy snacks but about 250 calories worth...maybe more...which put me over my daily calories.

I did weigh in yesterday, first time in at least a month and i am back down to 222 my low weight which I was happy about. (not including the 6-7 pounds I lost right after surgery but then went back up to 222 soon after) Now to start get losing again. My goal now is to again lose that 7 lbs and get to 215.

So the week is done. I feel successful in my challenge. I do feel better. I've been doing crunches so my abs also feel stronger.

Now on to 215.

Way to go Scott! And you're sensible and not perfectionist in meeting your challenge. I'm inspired to do my own challenge next week (as soon as I get back home from a trip). And I AM going to ride my bike in November. I am I am I am!!!

Day 5- Cruise Control is my Friend

Saturday, October 22, 2011

Day 5 of my week long nutrition tracking challenge. Day went ok but became a whirlwind of rushing around so...treated myself to a dd's coffee with 2 creams and splenda...I didnt have a breakfast so on the road for an hour I grabbed 2 grilled chicken snack wraps at mcd's which I try not to do but figured better to eat and it was at least fairly healthy for me. played some guitar at a hospital for a special care nursery reunion. my son was here 11 yrs ago. very fun. had a coffee with 2 half and halfs.

after the gig i was headed an hour north and was in a rush to get to my sons hockey game, so I was not gonna eat but...I thought better to keep my energy up so...yah...2 more grilled chicken snack wraps....

after the game the team went out for I had 3 slices of cheese/pesto and tomato pizza...with plenty of water...not the coffee for the ride home. hopefully my fat content was not too bad today. I'll find out when I log it in.

on the way home I got separated from my wife and kids ahead of me on the highway while following behind...decided to race to catch pulled over...officer was very nice...and appreciated my story...wife called me while he was talking to me so I guess that helped...I don't drink so he liked that and let me off with a warning but said to be careful, since it would have been a $300 ticket...

so, I like to think things happen for a reason sometimes and luckily this one was a good one. put it in cruise control for the way home, and giving me a reminder that organization and focus are important in all aspects of my travels. I don't feel like the day was out of control, but I was driving fast a lot of the day and glad I was told to slow it down.

and here's a photo of my son when he was at that special care nursery 11 years ago.

Day 4- One Week Nutrition Challenge

Friday, October 21, 2011

Good Day. Lots of energy. Hoping its because of the amount of water and my renewed focus on tracking my nutrition. I feel less achy which is how I felt when i first started last year, so I hope this is the trend.

Loving my coffee black. I did partake of the ice-cream at my son's 6th grade ice cream social tonight, but i figured...hey it's my last 6th grade social of both my kids. kept the portion smaller and having a very light dinner tonight.

Going to give a go at waking up early and getting a bunch of the garage cleaned out. Had a lot going on so my morning energy has waned lately, but I hope this focus makes a difference with that.

On to the weekend...
