The Road to Success . . . . or...Which One Are You?

Too tired for the gym!

All my friends had dessert, so I did too!

As soon as the holidays are over, I'll get healthy (start my diet) have more time for working out, blah-blah

I'll have more time to get healthy once the house is clean!

Didn't have time to cook so we just went to the drive-thru

As soon as I lose some of this weight I'll join a gym

I hardly eat a thing!

Well, the pictures could go on and on, but you get the drift. There are a million excuses and we've all used a few of them. The only REAL way to lose weight, tone up, and get healthy is to eat a balanced, healthy diet (diet meaning food plan) and get a minimum amount of exercise.

by minimum exercise, I mean a 20 or 30 minute walk every day -- all at one time! Or a 20 minute gym workout, going through an exercise DVD or something similar. And most of you know what a balanced diet consists of. If not -- look it up on Spark People. They will spell it out for you, and even plan your meals for you if you like.

Additional Photo's of Kitchen & Family Room

Friday, March 16, 2012

As long as I was in the mood for taking photo's, I thought I would add these of the kitchen and family room since I've painted and wallpapered. As I chose a gray with streaks of tan granite, I thought gray would go best with the walls. Pleated cellular window coverings were a pinky/mauve so gray would go well there too. And my family room furniture is a very light creamy yellow. Here's the results:
South wall of Fam Rm

Facing SE corner

Fam Rm toward Kitchen

North end of Kitchen

Moving left from the North wall you see the refrigerator, and one of the doors leading to the hall

And last but not least is my prize antique rooster -- he's BIG and he's HEAVY!

Hope you enjoyed the tour! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Pictures of Granite in Spare Bath, Living Room and the Wallpaper

Friday, March 16, 2012

I did a blog on my kitchen once the granite had been installed, but since then it has been painted gray -- it was white. And in making that change I decided to do the Illusions wallpaper at the far end of the Family Room (the fireplace wall). So this is how that area of the room looks now:

Then the additional granite that was just installed this week in two places -- here is my DH's bathroom, also the guest bathroom:
It used to have 2 sinks but the area is small, and I decided to eliminate the sink on the left. It looks quite luxurious!

And as you enter our home, directly in front of the entryway is our Living Room. If you turn to the right you go down a hall leading to the Master Bedroom. It is divided from the living room by a pillar and then a low wall. I had the low wall topped with granite. Here's the result:

The artifacts you see displayed are from our travels. On the far left is a statue called Honiwa (pronounced honey wah) from Japan. They use these statues in their graveyards. The large piece of pottery is an heirloom passed on generation to generation and found on family land. The large gourd was also acquired on some trip, but the location is unknown to me.

Completed the Granite -- and it's beautiful

Wednesday, March 14, 2012

The granite installation crew arrived a full one and a half hours early, which was fine by me, as I was home and just waiting for them -- and he work began!

Bathroom came first and after a few grunts and groans I saw the old countertop with its built-in sinks going out the door -- complete with faucets. OK, I figure if you are springing for new granite counters you can afford NEW faucets. And actually instead of going with the gold or chrome color, I decided on that new dark brown pewter color that has become popular. I have even bought a glass to match the faucets so my DH will have a place to put his toothbrush and toothpaste.

The long low wall dividing the hallway from the living room came next, and that piece must have been super heavy as it was over 8 feet long. I stayed out of their way, but the next thing I knew they were calling me to inspect their work and sign off on the paperwork.

So that's the last of the granite work we're having done and it looks great. Perhaps I can get DH to take a photo!

YOU are your own worst enemy!

Thursday, March 08, 2012

emoticon Yes, you really CAN do it! But do you realize the main reason that is holding you back? YOU!
Yes, you are the one that is telling yourself that you're a failure!
You are the one saying you'll never make it to your goal!
You are the one that says you've always been fat, you'll always be fat!
You are the one that says "go ahead and eat it -- you'll never be thin."
You are the one that feels ashamed of your own body!
You are the one that says it should have been more, even when you see a loss.
You are the one who doesn't believe in yourself!

You can't win if you think you can cheat on yourself. It's a no-win situation. Your body does not care what you say! Talk is cheap! Action is all that counts!

It's "NO EXCUSES" time. Don't think, Don't Procrastinate, Don't even try to come with an excuse because there isn't any! GET OUT THERE AND DO IT!

And after you've done it, don't spoil it all with what you put in your mouth.
