Week coming to a close

Thursday, March 07, 2013

The back is feeling a little better. Went to Zumba last night thinking I would not be able to keep up but had no problem. I think it actually helped. This morning I got on the threadmill and was able to do 18 minutes before I had to get errands done. Some groceries bought, gas, and pills picked up. The sun is shining so that helps you feel better also. Dhs truck wouldn't start this morning but thank God it only turned out to be the battery that had to be replaced and it was still under warrenty too so didn't cost a thing.

I made some banana/blueberry muffins with yogurt yesterday and they are really good. Only 82.9 calories. It makes 12 muffins, so I only kept 3 out and frozen the others in baggies, 3 in a bag. 1 cup flour ( I use wheat)
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt (which I left out)
1 cup ripe banana
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup plain yogurt
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract.
Then I also added 1/4 cup frozen blueberries. I enjoyed them so much and happy I have some in the freezer for later on.

We have bowling tonight and then the weekend is helping a friend move to a new apartment. Three more weeks before out trip with the grandkids and daughter. Getting excited for it.

Sad

Wednesday, March 06, 2013

Why is it we are late on saying goodbye to friends. I have been so close to my spark friend Tara for we had so much in common. We both dreaded December because of our mothers dying in that month and other such things. We helped each other made it thru the days. Being from Canada I knew i would never meet her being I am in Iowa but we felt like sisters. Not hearing for awhile, I went to her site today to say hi and see why she hadn't been around, what a shock to learn she passed on the 27 of Feb. Tears are falling but I know she is in a good place with our Lord.

This week has been tough anyway with the back acting up and now the heart is hurting. Toall my other spark friends - Know I am close to all and love hearing your tales and the help you give me. You are all in my heart. This makes me know I need to keep up more with all of you, for life is short.

I can hear Tara saying to get on with life and work hard on getting where I want to go inmy health. I will do it for you my dear friend.

I was not SparkFriends with Tara, but we had several overlapping friendships. It is sad to lose a friend, even a friend we may never meet. I feel closer to many of my SparkFriends than I do to some of my in-person friends. I think it's because the anonymity lends intimacy. I share things that bother me here that I wouldn't in person because I don't want to seem like moaning Myrtle about my weight or employment situation. I completely understand your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have not been a Sparkler for long but have already made some very good friends. It's funny how we can get so close to people we may never meet, but they at times they are our best friends and support system. You never know from day to day what life is going to bring, so you are so right in saying that life is short. We need to take the time to tell people that we love and appreciate them when they are here. Thanks for the gentle reminder. I'm sure Tara is smiling at you from above. emoticon

Another 6 inches today.

Tuesday, March 05, 2013

School is delayed again today for more snow fell last night. So ready for spring.

I am hoping that it is the weather that is making my right hip and back to start hurting again. It could be I over worked it also with the weights I did on Sunday. So haven't gotten too much tthreadmill in the last two days. Tried this morning but only made it 10 minutes. I am going to fight this one thru for I don't want to go in for the shots in the back again or told surgery. It had been feeling so good with the weight loss so am hoping it is the weather and cold and it will clear up. I will push thru!!

A fruit smoothie again this morning and some warm soup for lunch. I will work my 2 hours at school today and tomorrow to help out then I should be going back to just one day a week. But shouldn't say that too loud for you never know who will be sick or gone for some reason. They know I don't say no to easy. But do enjoy going in the seeing the kids.

We're supposed to get snow coming our way. You must have gotten it first. Snow means I do my exercise in my home and not get to the pool. Makes me shake up my routine a bit which isn't a bad thing at times.

Another storm

Monday, March 04, 2013

Another storm is hitting us again. So far some rain and a couple of inches of snow but they say more is coming later in the day. School is delayed 2 hours and I will be going in to help out. That will make three days I will work this week. I missed Zumba last night but did go to school when DS and grandson went, to lift some light weights and ride a stationaire bike. Nice when you have a son who is a coach and can get you into the weight room. Anything to change things up abit and work on this new life. Another funeral to go to also sometime this week. A friend that has struggled with Luekimia for 20 years. A great guy that always helped us out so much when we moved into our mobile home years ago.

With weather and all I feel alittle down today but that is the winter blahs for you. I will push thru and keep myself on the right trail.

Wow, March already

Friday, March 01, 2013

I can't believe it is March already. One good note is I was close to my goal for the month of Feb. So now I hope to be able to lose 4 pounds in this month of March to be able to hit the 160s for my trip.
I have started having smoothies in the morning with oatmeal in them. That seems to satisfy me and last longer. I found some ideas in the womens magazine.

Peanut Butter Apple = 1/2 cup lowfat milk, 1/2 apple (peeled and chopped), 1 Tbls peanutbutter and 1/4 cup quick cooking oastmeal.
Double Berry Blitz = 1 1/4 cup strawberries, 1 cup lowfat milk and 1/4 cup oastmeal, 3 Tbls blueberries.
Banana Blast = 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup frozen raspberries, 1/3 cup oatmeal, 1/3 cup vanilla yogurt and 1/4 cup milk.

You mix these in a blender until smooth. Each is 1 serving. They are so good and filling. I last thru the morning longer and seem to be satisfied longer. I either have one for brkfst or as a midmorning snack.

Time to get moving and clean house and get washing done for the week. We have a date to go out on Saturday night with friends my hubby golfs with. So the next challenge is coming to eat right. I think I can do it and come out with flying colors. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
