Ready for a noisey house for 3 days.

Got my menu planned and the house cleaned up this morning. Now relaxing and waiting for the kids to show up. It will be wall to wall for a few days but wouldn't have it any other way. We do Christmas eve with just treats and sloppy joes to eat. Made theirs and then did a small amount for myself because of the tomatoe in theirs. We go to Christmas Eve service at church and then home to play games with the kids. Christmas morning we open presents and the kids get stockings stuffed with little gifts from Santa. That has been a tradition since they were all little. Then we write our notes for the White Stocking for next year.

This White Christmas Stocking

The presents were all there under the Christmas tree.
The stockings were hung and filled, one for Mom, Dad and me.
And what's that... Another one I didn't see?
A beautiful white stocking that seemed to be empty.
It was the stocking for baby Jesus. Only he had been forgotten!
So we each wrote on a piece of paper and slipped the notes into the stocking.
To be left until next Christmas Eve. On that night we will take them out to read.
Did we fulfill our commitments, our goals or give to those in need?
For those are the daily gifts we can give, that give to Jesus too.
Gifts of love from each of us. Gifts of love to you.
Again on Christmas Day we will write a little note, and tuck it in the White Christmas Stocking to fill the year with hope.

May all your dreams come true, may your Christmas be Merry and may the new year to good to all of us.

Making a step to 2013

Have been thinking alot about my New Years plan. One step at a time. My goal is to start with the plan to make it to 150 by December 2013. That means 27 pounds to go. It is not an impossible goal. I will watch very close on my eating and keep up the threadmil every day or at least 3 times a week. I will also keep up with Zumba twice a week and add some of my own workouts here at home.

Another goal is to keep up with all my friends on SP. It is so great to be able to talk with people that understand what I go thru and be able to help them also.

I have been reading a book that says milk is a food, not a drink. So you should have only one glass a day. They suggest the fruit should be eaten with a protein to lessen the sugar. If you need butter on things, you should use almond butter. I already use just olive oil or canola oil. I know I have to push more water, 64 oz a day is a must. Vitamin C and B12 are important to get and dark berries have lots of both. So cranberries, black raspberries, black berries and blue berries are excellent for this. Salmon is the best fish choice or cold water fish (tuna and cod). They say that KIWI fruit is loaded with C and have very few calories. If you eat every three hours it would help maintain the hunger keeping the sugar levels even. You should take 20 mintues to eat. It is ok to have a cheat once a week to keep yourself under control. They say push 1000 mg of Vitamin C and fish oil pills. B12 should also be used. This is from a book called The Belly Fat diet by John Chatham. Just figure reading on different things like this will help to improve the eating habits.

I am hoping for a New Year and a new me. More thoughts will have to be made to focus on my goals of the year. Happiness is the best medicine for all. So look at a bright future with a light heart and a smile on your face. Like they say people will wonder what you are up to when you smile all the time. emoticon

    I love to read diet books and books by people who have lost weight. A lot of what your read overlaps, but I still need to hear the same old things over and over. Let's get rid of that belly fat! Are you eating kiwis? Just slice and eat? The tartness bothers my teeth as do most citrus fruits.

Snow storm, guess it will be a white christmas

Started snowing last night and now blizzard today. 10 inches of snow so far. Does going out and shovelling and cleaning cars court as excercise? Then on top of it, started a cold today. Well actually last night, the throat started to get sore. School cancelled and some work places. So won't have to go in and see the little ones today, was looking forward to it for I love to see their faces this time of year when I wear my hats for Christmas. Suppose to get my hair cut this afternoon so will see if she will be there. With the wind blowing as it is we will probably have to do more later today to be able to get out. Guess it will be a white Christmas.

I have been lazy this week and not getting in my excercise but then said I would not worry about it for the rest of the year. This is a difficult time of year to keep myself under control on snacks and excercise. Too busy. Keep telling myself that I will not worry about it till the 1st of the year when I will get real strick .

    I think shoveling snow and clearing your car are very aerobic exercises so log them as such! I think a lot of people are setting weight program aside for the holidays. So many people get revved up to lose in January so you can join the tide and participate in some challenges and such. I will not be setting my program aside. I may not work it perfectly when I encounter a plate of cookies or a similar goody, but I continue to try to do better next time. It is cold out where you are (close to 80 here) so maybe you can do some movement at home. I believe getting up and just marching in place for a minute or two counts--especially if you do it several times a day. If you've ever done Leslie Sansone videos, you know how easy the moves are. Just do them during the commercials. I have my Wii Fit set up and I strive to get 30 minutes or more on it. Not all the exercises are hard and daunting. Some involve working on my balance. ANYWAY, my take-away message is just don't give up!

Finally got on the threadmill this morning, to many days of not doing it. Busy cleaning house and making Christmas bracelets for work and friends. Will work today and Thursday then it is Christmas break at school. With the New Year I will only have to go in on Tuesdays for they have another gal that wants to work on Thursdays. So less hours except if called when someone is sick.


In casse I don't get a chance this is my wish to you all.


Christmas concerts will very good. Loved seeing the kids doing their thing. Now can't wait for Christmas when they all come home for a few days. Cookies and caramels to be made.

New Years resolution tips

It is so nice to be in my own bed again. Was so tired and slept so well last night. We traveled in rain almost all the way, which is better then snow. Close to home was bad fog so made for a headacke by the time I got here. I do most of the driving for DH doesn't like too. We were able to stop in Austin and visit with his sister and brother for just alittle while but didn't want to waste much time because of the weather. Picked up towels for my bowling girls from DH sister, that she had done for me on her fancy machine. They are so nice and she also had done some Christmas decorations for my tree that are just darling.
The scale is tempting and I did step on just to see what I gained and was surprised to see that I stayed the same. So guess that means I have learned some good eating habits.

Come the first of the year, I will sit down and write my goals out for 2013. I will have to think hard on this. It will be my New Years Resolution. Lots of people like the idea of New Years resolutions, but while making them is easy, sticking with them can be hard. If not sure where to start or how to stay motivated there are tips:

1. Choose one thing to work on at a time.
2. Identify why you want to make a particular change. You'll be most successful if it's really for you and not to meet someone else's expectations.
3. Think about what's requited. Will you need to devote time, money, or energy? If so, what will you need to make it.
4. Map out a plan that is broken down in small pieces.
5. Find support for your efforts. Talk with friends and family about your intentions. (SP is good support.)
6. Inspire yourself. Blog, post pictures or words representing your goals in a prominent spot.
7. If you face a challenge, don't give up. It's okay to have a setback. Get up and try again, using what you've learned to adjust your course.
8. Congratulate yourself for progress. It's brave and strong to make changes!

So with this I will sit down and start jotting down my plan and the week before New Years I hope to be able to put down my goals. What are your goals and plan for the New Year? We need to share and push each other forward to a new and healthy year ahead of us.

I got my results from my esophagus test .Things showed indefinite for dysplasia but there is a risk of developing esopheal cancer compared to normal population. So in two years I need to be tested again. I can handle this news. Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts.

    I am hearing about esophagus troubles a lot lately. Mine is doing pretty well, but my friend's mom has that dysplasia you describe. My own mother's esophagus might be okay, but she's plagued with GERD and occasional bouts of pancreatitis. Hearing about these real-world problems on top of diabetes and heart disease helps to motivate me to avoid high-fat foods. I hope you don't have too much discomfort with your esophagus issues.

Good news about your test, not perfect results, but certainly better than bad news.
