getting on to this kindle

Friday, December 14, 2012

I think I figured how to get on SP with my kindle. Concerts were good for both kids. We will head home in the morning and am looking forward to my own bed. Feel like my eating hasn't been too good but dh says I haven.t been that bad. Went shopping today to get out while they work and in school. Dh got some new slippers and I got a new sweater in a large. So nice to shop in department of regular sizes and not the large section. Will caught up when we get home to see how all are doing. I will also have to start writing down my goals for 2013. So plan on my next blog to be on plans for the new year.

What a treat to hear from you while you are away from home. I had no idea the Kindle had the ability to connect to Spark, very cool. I can't wait until I can shop in the "regular" sizes that is such an accomplishment, grats!!

Travel home safely.

It is only in the teens today and we only got a dusting of snow on Sunday. Heading for Wisconsin tomorrow and DD says they got 2.5 inches. But don't think we will have any trouble for it is to warm up and we will be coming back on Saturday. I am sure their concerts will be good.

The birthday was a little strange this year. Brother didn't call like he usually does but did talk to my sister. Hubby has a cold, so you know how men can be and didn't say a word. Son is having tonsil problems but did wish me Happy birthday. He is headed for the doctor today so hope he gets better, he has such a busy life with coaching.

I am headed out later today to visit my 93 friend and read a Christmas story to her. Then a basketball game tonight. I cheated alittle yesterday and ate a couple of sugar Christmas cookies. Decided that was my birthday treat. I talked to myself this morning and decided not to worry about the month of December and the scale. I know I am eating better and really watch it except for a cheat like yesterday. The holidays are to be jolly so need to charge myself up and change my mood. I will avoid the scale this month and with the new year will become friends again and work harder on getting it to move.

Thank you Tara for the birthday party on line. Loved the present, balloons, and all. It is great to have friends like you, even if we have never met. My other friend here was the gift I got of a pair of soft, fluffy lounge pants with Garfield on them. She knows I am a nut for that lillte character.

I'm glad you gave yourself a little treat for your birthday! We all deserve a treat on our birthday.

Drive safe tomorrow, hope the roads aren't too bad for you. Fresh snow seems to bring out the stupid in some drivers lol. I hope your hubby feels better soon and same for your son, tonsil problems can be so exhausting to battle through.

You are very welcome for the party, I wish I could have been there and celebrated your special day with you in person!

We finally got some snow, not much but it helps. Not thrilled about the cold but the white is nice. Funeral today for my friend, and my 93 year old is now in a rest home and visiting yesterday she looks better and was talking better. Plans are to go spend time with her on Tuesday and read a Christmas story for her. I had church circle early this morn and there were Christmas cookies left from the caroling the night before so each took some. I hadn't planned on baking much, so this will help to have for the kids when they come.

We will be leaving on Wednesday morning for Wisconsin and Christmas concerts out there but will returnon Saturday. I will miss the GS concert here but he understands. Time is just going to fast. No word on my test yet, but that is good. I think this is alot of repeat from my other blog but it is what is keeping me running right now. emoticon Got to Zumba last night so that was good. Hope I can hit the threadmill later today, although I like mornings better. The scale is bouncing around 177 and 178 but I will take that. The new year will get into everything more and maybe can get it to move. emoticon

My scale hasn't budged in oh so long. I put on a few pounds at Thanksgiving but got back down to my lower weight, but it's not low and it's where I was at the end of October. Argh! That's where I am now. I've been doing great on getting exercise and water. I guess I could eat better, but I haven't been doing terribly. Today I've made it a goal to track extremely carefully. Good luck to the two of us to melt off pounds this winter and emerge in the spring as dainty butterflies!

A gloomy Saturday

Saturday, December 08, 2012

Haven't seen the sun but haven't seen the snow yet either. So will see what the night brings. If the weather is fine tomorrow I will run over to see my friend. She was moved to a rest home and seems to be doing better there. So will be anixous to see for myself. Church in the morning and then the guys watch football so makes it a good time to go. Finally did some Christmas shopping so at least have a gift for each child when they come home. I even bought me some colonga as a gift to my self for my birthday. I am sure it will end up to be just another day. We plan to head out to daughters on Wednesday morning and will get there in time to see GS band concert and then Thursday GD concert. We will head back home on Saturday. They have Christmas parties to go to anyway so will be out of the way and not make them want to miss it.

I haven't been very good this week with getting my workouts done. Lost energy and too much going on since my test and funerals and sick friends. I think I only hit the threadmill once or twice the whole week. Have ate ok, so hopefully the scale will be kind.

Basketball games are going well. GS was a starter Friday night and played awesome. Many complaiments made to him and us. It should be a fun winter of games. emoticon

Can't tell if you are looking forward to the snow or not. I was pretty active today thanks to introducing my son to the Wii Fit. He has logged over an hour and a half on it and I got in a solid hour myself. Usually I just get 15-20 minutes, but having him to compete against and he likes encouraging and coaching so it was fun. Maybe tomorrow will be like today. I went to two band concerts last week myself as my kids both play in their schools' bands. I missed my son's soccer games last week. One we were out of town so he had to play with no parents cheering him on. The second one my husband went to but he could go from work and it wasn't super-far. I would have had to drive nearly 50 miles to the game by myself and then home again probably alone, so Idecided to skip that particular game. Keep on sparking!

Weekend/ special poem

Friday, December 07, 2012

Here it is another weekend. When working, you looked forward to them but it is a little different when retired. Basketball game tonight to watch the grandson. A least it is at home so don't have to travel out of town. They are talking snow this weekend, which we can use for the moisture. So will have to see how much and if we can still go out to Wisconsin on Wednesday to see the grandkids band concerts. Will make it only three days this time.

Need to run over to the hospital today to see my little 94 year old friend. She is not eating and really going down fast. Was hoping she could make it thru the month but hate to see her like this. Such a beautiful woman that was like a grandmother to my kids. She has had a full life and hope the suffering for her is almost over.

I recieved this in the mail with a Christmas card and thought I would share:

you won't need a special star - I'm no longer just in Bethlehem, I'm right there where you are.
You may not be aware of Me amid the celebrations - You'll have to look beyond the stores and all the decorations.
But if you take a moment from your list of things to do and listen to your heart, you'll find I'm waiting there for you. You're the one I want to be with, you're the reason that I came, and you'll find Me in the stillness as I'm whispering your name. Love Jesus

Remember what the season is about.

Always nice to read updates about your life and what's going on with your grandkids. It is sad to see old friends pass away.
