Tuesday is grand

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

Been a busy day - I walked to work (about 1 mile) and seved the kids for 2 hours and then walked back 1 mile. It was hot (90s) again so was tough coming back home. I hvae done chicken in the crock pot with a cheese sauce for dinner but the boys haven't come home to eat yet. I did with a small piece chicken and a salad. Tomorrow my friend is having carpal tunnel surgery done on both her wrist so will be checking in on her. On Thursday I will work again for 2 hours and then go see a dear friend who will be 96 on that day. Plus we start bowling Thursday night. Friday I will go in to school and run the computer for breakfast then home to pack the camper for a weekend with DHs family. Haven't camped all summer so have alot to get done to go Friday night. The hardest is to figure out what I take for myself to eat and leave the bad stuff away that the rest will be having. Just have to convince myself to do it and say NO. I will still be able to get my walking in every day.

You have some busy days ahead of you before you head out to go camping. I'm glad you are doing some preplanning for food for yourself, that will make some choices easier once you are out there. Do your best, get that walking in and most importantly have fun! Remember, this journey to a healthy lifestyle is not meant to be a punishment, so if you enjoy a treat or two while out there, that is ok. It's all about moderation, so HAVE FUN!!

A week of new beginnings

Monday, August 27, 2012

Made a poached egg for breakfast this morning and then headed out for my walk. Got in 2 miles this morning and now my allergies are flaring up. I plan on a salad for lunch and then fish for supper. DH is going golfing this afternoon so will get my arrends done and then Zumba tonight. The week is going to get started the right way.

Failing but won't give up.

emoticon This has been a tough week. My eating has been off and I have been very tired. Some of it is the allergy pills I am sure, since my hayfever has been acting up. I hate taking the pills for they make me tired. I stepped on the scale and gained 2 pounds. I want to sit down and cry right now. I think being stuck at 185 for so long has made me give up but I am trying to fight that feeling. I got my books out and wil start recording my eating again. The excercise is going ok for I still walk every morning and go to Zumba 2 nights a week. I will be going in for a physical on Oct. 1, the soonest I could get in. Maybe hearing my results of blood tests for everything will get me back in the right frame of mind. I worry for with winter getting close I always get in a bad frame of mind. Off to church we go now and I will ask for forgiveness on my failure on conquering this. It WILL get better and I WILL do this.

Please don't think of this as failure, it is only a stumbling block. What is important is that you get up, dust yourself off and keep going forward to your goal. As long as you keep getting back up then you are not failing. I know how frustrating plateaus are and how heartbreaking a gain is. But what I want to suggest to you is that you go back to the beginning of the year when you first joined Spark and revisit how you felt, how your clothes fit, what clothes didn't fit, could you walk like you do now? How about Zumba, would you have made it through one of those workouts? Don't give up on all the work you've done and the successes you've already had.

I think it's good you are going to get back to tracking food, I really do find that makes a huge difference for me. Keeps me focused and accountable every day. It's great you walk so much and do Zumba, but have you started to incorporate some strength training? If not, I highly suggest giving that a try; I think you'd find that would make a huge difference. There are some great strength training videos and exercises here on Spark that use simple hand held weights and/or tension bands. The reason I am suggesting this is because as we age we lose muscle tone and muscle burns toning up and building strong lean muscle mass will help get you to your goal and likely could be the thing to get you past this plateau.

You know I'm here for you, together we will get to our goal weight.

I have been on the same track this past week. Eating more than I should. Taking extra nibbles here and there then having larger portions than I should. It stops today. A new week starts and I get to start fresh...again. As long as we don't quit that's all that counts. Hang in there. We can do this!!!!

Back home.

We went out for 6 days to my DDs and had a good time. Saw 2 games of soccer and was lucky enough to also see him march in a parade and play in the park for Allenton Days. I t was fun but so glad to be home in my own bed last night.

I took it easy on what I ate but didn't stress on it. Was happy to see I held my own in the weight department. I did get out and walked early every morning for at least 1 mile so sure that helped. Went to their open market in West Bend and get some good peaches, mushmellon, and veggies.

School has started here on Tuesday and I will be going in on Tuesdays and Thursdays to help serve the little ones in elementary. Its is only for two hours and will give me something to do. So will be leaving in a little while to do my first day. I hope everyone has been well and still getting healthy. I will be getting on later to check out how you are all doing.

Busy week

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

Yesterday I served my church circle then took a friend over to Mason to the cancer clinic for her treatment. That took most of the day. Did make it to Zumba last night.
The best is that the scale hasn't moved but some inches finally have. Took and inch off my waist and 1 inch off my hips. I have some size 16 slacks in my closet that were given to me, just like new so decided for church to try one pair and they fit. So did another pair on Monday for the Mason trip. That made me feel so good. Today we are headed up the Minneapolis for a Twins game and then Thursday we will leave to go out to the DDs to watch some soccer the GS plays. So a busy week.

Where has the summer gone, school starts next Tuesday here and everyone is moaning about it. But it is good for them to get back into a routine.

A little story on Monday. I ran around and did some shopping while waiting for my friend. While into Wal-Mart I needed to call DH to find out the pills he wanted me to get. I reached into my purse and my cell phone was gone. I was sick about it. First thought was to call home and tell him to cancel it out - duh no phone you idiot, you can't call. So, ok back track. As heading out to car I said please God make it be in the car. Took a quick look and nothing. Went back to the store I was in before but as I got out of the car I decided to look one more time. Sure enought it had fell out of my purse and was laying up close by the seat. So first off I thanked God for answering my pray then went and found some Chai Tea to settle my nerves.

He is always there for us in one way or another. emoticon

I can only imagine how happy you were when trying on those pants.....I know I always do a happy dance when something smaller fits. Glad your prayers were answered (cell phone)....that happened to me once and I found my phone in about the same spot you described in the car....since than I always make sure it's tucked in the bottom of the purse. I'm sorry I didn't get back to you about the possible meet up.....I tried to rearrange our schedule and sorry to say it can't work out this time.....this is always our busy time of year with birthdays, anniversaries, (family,,,,not ours) and there is a wedding shower, Dr. Cty trip...etc. I feel bad...but maybe some other time. Hope you enjoy the game tonight and be safe on your trip to Wisconsin....nothing like watching kids soccer. I used to love watching our sons play..... emoticon

Whew! I'm glad you found the phone and prayers were answered. Cancer treatments are so unpleasant, I'm glad your friend has you to help her through this difficult time. My prayers that all goes well and she comes out of all this healthier and cancer free.

Yay on the inches loss!! Feels great to get into new pants I bet. Keep celebrating those non-scale victories!
