Devil throwing Off my Healthy Life Plan

Wednesday, March 21, 2012

In the last eight years, I met my half sister (same dad) and we developed a friendship based on commonalities. We were both in helping professions, never married and book readers. We had weekly phone contact, but she would not participate in any family gatherings. She did come to my home, once when I had surgery. She had minimal contact with my siblings or our dad. In the last three months, I have been assisting her with transportation since her car was out. I had noticed that her health had failed drastically and was concern about her ability to care for herself alone. She has other siblings but they are not able to assist her because of their disabilities. Her mother is deceased and she had no children. Last week she had a heart attack in her apartment and died. Her next of kin, is her maternal aunt, who I have never met. I am numb so far. I am preparing for the service. She was my sister, but I do not know those that she considered her family. I was family in a box. I have been trying to stay focused on my program. I can hear, say, don't let the devil through off your program as she cheered by weight loss and life plan. This is something she said, to be after I missed a Nutritional Lecture that I wanted to go to, but did not after I got a traffic ticket. This one for you Cheryl!!!

From the sounds of it, you were rather special to her - and she to you. How wonderful that you had the time together that you did!

I think the neatest thing about exercise is that once you get started, you can see improvement in how long or fast or far or well you can do things very quickly. Two minutes today and the next time you can push for three minutes and then four. It slowly grows and each day we do a little more is an accomplishment!

New Exercise Clothes

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

I recently read a Sparkpeople article about exercise wear and being encouraged by looking good when you work out. I have been working out in an old tennis shirts, tennis shoes and pants. But I recently purchased from a plus size catalog two pair of leggings capri's and a swimtard from Junoia. They have all arrived and I am so excited. I can not wait until the morning. I have tried everything on and even sent pictures out with me in my swimtard!!

That's great. I was just thinking the same thing about my bleech stained pants and floppy tee shirt that I work out in. I think it would be a great pick me up to have some decent workout clothes.

It definitely feels good to "dress up" to work out rather than being all loose and floppy. Not just that, I find that not having baggy pants catch and baggy shirts prevent me from paying attention to my form means I get more out of my workout.

Meatless Monday

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

I had a trip to our new fruit stand yesterday. I found some cheaper bananas and veggies. I also found some salsa, which is a must have. Yesterday was Meatless Monday,, I ate whole wheat pancakes for breakfast, salad for lunch and fruit for snack, and later noodles and veg for dinner. I did have a few cashews. NO MEAT OR CHICKEN OR FISH.

Skimping on food

Tuesday, March 06, 2012

I skimped on food yesterday and today I can not get full enough!! I need to eat a balance plan and not try to eat below my plan. I need to get this in my head so that I can be successful.

I have done the same thing. It is really hard to meet a medium every day. Don't give up. We'll just take it One Day at a Time.

emoticon sometimes it can be tough! I find sometimes I am so concerned with counting the calories and keeping track that I end the day not eating enough. It can be hard to make it all balance at the end of the day but you can do it!!

If you were genuinely not hungry enough yesterday, you can "roll over" the calories you were under to today. Sometimes giving ourselves the okay to eat up to that higher number is enough to not keep eating way past it - where trying to stay low two days in a row just sets the hunger beast on the rampage.

Hang in there. The balance will come.

I know it's hard sometimes. We want to ' hurry along ' this weight loss so we go below calories - I think most of us have done it at one point and time. I know I'm guilty emoticon. But you are recognizing it and working through it. These are the baby steps of our journey!
