Staying Strong!!

Saturday, August 04, 2012

It has been a pretty good weekend!! Tomorrow is my Monday but next week is vacation time!! The scale isn't down but I am still feeling my body changing. What an amazing feeling that is! Just being able to take those extra steps without getting winded. Noticing how quickly your normal pace is getting. It's all about the little things!!

emoticon I have been a little more hungry the last few days as well. I was surprised to find that I may not have been eating enough for my new workout plan. Thankfully Sparkpeople caught it for me. I am now going to spin class 3 times a week, running 2 times a week, and strength training 2 times a week, or more if i'm in the mood. emoticon I was way over my calorie burn limit with 3 days left in the week so I made the adjustments. Now I won't be so hungry.

Bought brand new running shoes yesterday. Oh man there is nothing like brand new running shoes. I am a toe runner so I have to find shoes that are comfy in the toes. Found some Asics on sale that felt like clouds on my feet, threw in my 20% off coupon and got $110 shoes for $85. SCORE!! Happy feet AND happy pocket book. Can't beat that with two sticks. Hah!

And today I became a red head. emoticon Hah! I figured I would try something new for vacation this year and I am loving it. I am definitely not used to it. Every time I catch my reflection I have a "Whoa" moment. Hehehe! It is fun though!!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!! emoticon emoticon

Wow, I can feel your energy flowing from your words. I love new running shoes too, although I have to admit that I haven't run since around March. Lately I have been trying to do things in more moderation (for me, that is) - and the running was a bit too much on my legs and hips. I am thinking when I get some weight off, I will try running again. In the meantime, walking is doing me good. Oh and you are so right about just being able to go a few more steps, or finding more spring in your step. It all feels so good and is great motivation.
I love your Spark page background. And hope you have a great vacation. Red hair is always fun. I have done that a few times in my life. LOL.

More fit.....MoreJiggles?! Anyone else have this?

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

I am definitely seeing changes in my body now. My legs are more defined. I am starting to see more definition in my abs as well, but I am also seeing lots and lots of....jiggle. I have never been this jiggly. I feel like I am covered in jello. Hah! *wiggle, wiggle, wiggle* Not to mention that it looks and feels really gross. emoticon

Don't get me wrong, I am thankful that my body is changing. I guess I just never imagined my cellulite getting worse, or getting cellulite in places I have never had it before. I am assuming this is a process that your body goes through when it is burning off fat. Anyone else had this? Who would have thought that having more fat on your body would look better than the fat when your losing it?! emoticon Wow!!

I hope everyone had a great Monday!! emoticon We can do this!!!

Progress...Slowly but Surely

Saturday, July 28, 2012

After so many down moments in the past when the weight just wouldn't seem to come off I have finally dropped some weight and am really seeing a difference in my clothes. My pants are more loose, my belt is loose, I am noticing strength in my arms and legs when I move. This is amazing!! Finally PROGRESS!! emoticon

I have continued to do at least 10 minutes of exercise a day whether it's running in place, jumping jacks, or short videos. I still love the 8 min ab, legs, arms, and buns videos from the 80's and thankfully have found them on youtube. Hah! Definitely a blast from the past but still effective.

I have also started making a grateful list, thanks to a friend who was doing the same through her email. I am unable to check my email while at work so I have simply set what I'm calling grateful alarms. Hah! When the alarm goes off I type into my note application on my phone what I am grateful for at that moment. Here's my list so far:

- I am grateful for breaks in radio traffic. (I am a police/fire dispatcher)
- I am grateful for the ability to find humor in non-humorous situations. It keeps me from going crazy.
- I am grateful for my job, even with all the craziness.
- I am grateful for healthy snacks in the snack machine.
- I am grateful for the strength I am feeling in my arms and legs.
- I am grateful for the ability to exercise and improve myself.
- I am grateful for the love of Chewbacca (My furkid)
- I am grateful for the love and support of friends.
- I am grateful for that lukewarm or sometimes cool shower after a workout.
- I am grateful to live in a city with awesome drinking water.
- I am grateful to have a boyfriend who listens to my gripes, moans, and accomplishments and is always there to root me on or point out the silver linings.
- I am grateful for ibuprofen and allergy meds. (Ouch)
- I am grateful for SparkPeople!!

First Spark Blog

Sunday, July 22, 2012

I have been struggling with losing weight for over a year now. I am trying to live a healthier life and am making steps towards that on a daily basis. It is so easy to get discouraged when you don't see the weight coming off though. I started spin class about two and a half weeks ago and have begun to see changes in my body shape though. I know this is going to be a slow process I just have to push through those hurdles.

I started Spark People with the app last year at the beginning of another leg of my weight loss journey. I had never heard of Spark People before then. I did not take advantage of the full site then unfortunately. I ran across "The Spark" at a bookstore a few weeks ago and decided to pick it up. I am so glad that I did. I am now reading and taking notes from the book. I have started my motivational collage and am becoming more and more excited about my new life. I have definitely been given the spark and am truly thankful!

Last night I ran my second week intervals from a running class I took last year and I made it all the way through. I approached the end of the last interval and decided that I would attempt to run an extra interval. If nothing else I was going to run farther than I ran before. I made it to the end of my two minute interval and realized I was close to the 2.5 mile mark, so I pushed on. I ran five minutes straight. Five minutes!! For the first time since I cheered I ran for five minutes!!! GO ME!!
