I was the worst dressed

Of course everyone is familiar with the good news/bad news phrase. Well, the good news is: we went to my brother in law's to spend Christmas day with him and his family (they're great and we always have a fun time!). Now for the "bad" news: because I wear a uniform for work and wear mostly either workout clothes or casual, I went to my closet to pick out one of my dressier, nicer clothes, and.....................(GASP!!) NOTHING fit me! They are all too BIG!! Oh no, I said! Here it is, Christmas day, no stores were open, I couldn't make a quick emergency trip to purchase any clothes!'s what I had to do; I decided on a half-way decent pair of jeans that DO fit, put on the "smallest" blouse, took my belt to my husband for him to put new holes where it comfortably fit my waist, and cut off the remaining part of that belt so it wouldn't look obvious. We were laughing the whole time, commenting that we thought that things like this happened either in cartoons or sit-coms.
I received a few gift cards, so............needless to say, I will be replacing some of my wardrobe and donating the other clothes to a thrift store.
I hope everyone had a nice holiday, which ever one was celebrated! Well, now I'm off and running to go shopping for my New Year's outfit.................

Marathon training, week 2

I am increasing in time, distance, and stamina; I'm able to now run for 3-4 minute increments with a 2-minute walk in between. Every other day, including today, I trained for a full hour. Then afterwards, I stretch for about 10-15 minutes. emoticon emoticon

A book I highly recommend

About a week ago, I ordered a book entitled "Never Say Diet" by Chantel Hobbs. She tells how, with not a "diet" but a mind-set for permanent weight loss. She lost over 200 pounds, is now a personal trainer, and has done several marathons; needless to say, when I saw that, I became intrigued, decided to purchase the book, and it is changing ME. She also lists top excuses for not getting fit. I am almost half-way through and it has inspired me (as well as my son, Andrew) to train for a marathon (in my previous blog). Marathon training for 2009

I started yesterday doing one hour of walking & jogging. I will be doing this for at least 5 days a week. I am starting out s-l-o-w-l-y because this is my first attempt ever.

Monday morning, 7:00 am: I did 30 minutes of the walking/jogging (2 minute intervals). This afternoon, I will do another 30-minute workout. I will let the truth be known, I am feeling it. However, there is one decision I am sticking with: I will NOT let my aching leg muscles dictate to me----I CAN & WILL PRESS ON. I will be posting to this blog to keep everyone (and myself) updated on my progress..............
