Hi Sparkers! My sister extended her stay plus I had to play catch-up when I returned to work (I won't bore you with THOSE work details LOL).
During the course of the 2 weeks, there was lots of activities; we went out dancing at a favorite night spot to a live band (my son is a good friend of the drummer), so that was a workout in and of itself (and FUN!). I drank club soda with a twist of lime as a healthier alternative. A few days later, we went to downtown Norfolk and walked around for at least 4 hours after going to the movies (Bridemaids---raunchy but hilarious!) We got a diet soda and one candy bar for a snack (I took one bite of the Butterfinger and that was it---blechhh! I just don't have the desire to eat that stuff anymore---good thing huh!). We did lots of swimming almost every day. Our next door neighbors are very kind and let us use their pool (we did early morning swimming before the extreme heat of the day surfaced as we are both fair and burn easily). On the days we chilled here at home, we only watched TV for 2 hours here and there. When we wanted to get in some exercise, we took turns downloading a favorite tune and we would dance around like a couple of teenagers at the school dance LOL! For an alternative treat for us, instead of binging on junk foods, we bought (at the local Dollar Store) some curlers, face mask, and nail polish and created our own at-home beauty spa! How relaxing-----and now we have glowing skin heh heh heh! Last Sunday, the 3 of us (my son included) went to Water Country USA in Williamsburg and boy talk about FUN! And exercise! We were literally there from open to close (10AM-8PM) and cut loose like children let out for recess! We never dreamed that we would be climbing height-defying stairs and going down huge water slides! Of course we rested here and there (because we're getting "younger" LOL!) We burned off the huge breakfast we had before going (ok, I confess---we had one slip-up; we indulged ourselves at the Golden Corral for a breakfast buffet, but that is a very rare occurrence, but dang! we enjoyed it!). My sister's last day was last Wednesday. Being that we had to drop her off at the Amtrak train station in Newport News, we decided to go for one last harrah and spend time in Colonial Williamsburg which is just above Newport News. Nothing maniacal, just walking around taking in the beauty of the area, especially the outlet stores and the College of William and Mary (Williamsburg is about 39 miles north of Norfolk). All in all, I still feel energized and refreshed to have spent quality time with my sister (her name is Charlene). And losing 6 pounds and having my clothes feeling looser is an extra bonus! Before the summer's end, she and my nephew will be visiting a few more times being that we all purchased season passes to Water Country!! We're kids at heart, what more can I say!
