One good reason I DIDN'T walk home yesterday

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

We had a brief but very violent storm rush through our area. I was driving in the company van and got caught in the rain, heavy hail, and gusts. I never knew that hail could sound so loud, make visibility almost non-existent, and be menacing. All of us drivers didn't budge until it passed. Here is a link of someone catching it on a vid. Fortunately we have our electricity, but others are still without as of this morning. There are downed trees, electrical wires, and branches. For the rest of the week, we should have nicer weather, so I will walk home today. Anyway, here's the link:

We had horrendous storms like that most of the week! Hope you are back to walking home in sunshine! Are you in VA? Hampton Roads rings my bell, but can't place it.... The VA Beach area? Stay out of those storms and happy walking!

Getting home from work via New Balance Express

Saturday, May 21, 2011

I live about 2.8 miles away from where I work and for the past several days, I would have either my son or husband drop me off in the morning, then after work, I walk home. I've been feeling invigorated and am sleeping more soundly. I am going to do this before the heat of the summer comes upon us. Even then I will bring a bottle of H2O.

A sign received that my husband drinks TOO much soda

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

Bruuuuther, we had one heck of a mess to clean up. My husband brought home yet another six-pack of Pepsi (which I don't drink) and was anxious to get a can of it cold. Without my knowing, he put one in the freezer last night and forgot about it. When I got up this morning, I opened the freezer door to see what I could thaw out for tonight's dinner, and-----SURPRISE!! The can exploded overnight and most of the door and items was covered with the slushy and sticky stuff. I sighed, and he looked at me with a sheepish grin LOL! I point-blank asked him if he wanted THAT in his system. It gave him a whole new perspective on that sugary junk and as I'm posting this blog, he brought the rest of the cans to work to give them away. Well, break-time is over---now to wipe down the rest of the freezer. emoticon emoticon

Challenge him to go without pop for 30 days. That was a do-able amount for me and at the end of the 30 days, I realized that I no longer craved pop. Have successfully done without since December 31, 2009! I am loving drinking my water!! There are other benefits that I cannot talk about! emoticon

My husband was just leaving for work when we made that lovely discovery LOL! Being that I had the day off, I had no choice but to clean it. However, HE got to make dinner when he got home, heh heh heh

Hang up! Or else..........

Thursday, March 31, 2011

.......you will risk yours and someone else's life. When I was out and about today, waiting to make a left turn, the vehicle ahead of me proceeded to make the turn and almost got broad-sided. Nothing happened thankfully. I was just close enough to see that the on-coming driver who screeched on the breaks was talking on their cell phone, not paying attention. This was a startling reminder to not use my cell phone until I am safely parked.

I agree my mate is a coach driver and i go out and about with him it's amazing how many people are stupid enough to disregard safety and use their mobiles while driving we have seen quite a lot of near misses also half a dozen fatalities resulting from innappropriote use of phones .Also people talking to passengers in back seats .I used to work for the police and I don't think thye pull enough people and make examples of them for this.Sorry about the band waggon. lol emoticon

Good reminder. GA passed a law recently that you can't drive and text. Can't even imagine how anyone could do that.

FINALLY Debt-Free!

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

I would like to share what I posted to one of the teams I am a member of (Dave Ramsey Fans).

I was wondering if anyone had purchased a house within the past year and received the $8,000 credit. Last April (of 2010), my husband and I just got under the wire and went to closing before the deadline. This past January we went to get our taxes done and this past Thursday we got the direct deposit---YAY!! I am happy to say that ALL our debts are PAID IN FULL, lock stock and barrel, praise the Lord! My husband just called nTelos (where we have our cell phone service) and got our monthly bill reduced by $57 a month by getting rid of the texting and internet service, which is a yearly savings of $684. I know we spent a small fortune to get rid of the credit card bills (including the interest rates that was high enough to gag a horse), but in the long run, it will pay off. Thank you for letting me share.

I'm still waiting for my return. Because they extended teh closing deadline from June to September, I QUALIFY!! Am getting a $7K return total but am not anticipating the check's arrival until next month. But then my car will be paid off along with almost both of my credit cards.

Good for you! That is quite the accomplishment! We have been married for 36 yrs and we have done that once too. We actually owned a home free and clear and cars too-it is an awesome feeling! But, once again back in debt, but we like to pay things off too and hope to soon. I will have to check into Dave Ramsey! emoticon

What a HUGE accomplishment! This will lighten your stress load tremendously, I'm sure!

We've never jumped on the data / texting / internet bandwagon for our cells. I seriously don't "get" this texting craze: what's wrong with voice-mail? :-)

We've been enjoying having our home paid off and no car loans for the past several years. It is going to be a mighty tough blow to deal with a car loan again...which will probably happen within the next year...trying to baby our 2002 Windstar along...!

Congratulations. It is very tough in today's world to get debt free, but your hard work and sacrifices have really paid off! I got debt free a couple of years ago and am still living debt free. It is such a fantastic feeling not stressing over credit cards.
