I'm proud of my son's seasonal job

Thursday, February 03, 2011

Well, it's that time of year to think about tax time. My husband and I went to Liberty Tax and someone mentioned that they were looking for a waver--------yup, you guessed it! My son is (as you read this) is donned with the green drape and crown waving and dancing his heart out. Pretty cool huh! He auditioned a few days ago and was hired on the spot. He's been unemployed for some time, but he sure knows how to make lemonade out of lemons. emoticon By the way, the temps are in the high 30's to low 40's and being that he's out there moving around, he's burning calories. So far, he lost over 20 pounds since the new year. I'm no longer as worried about him pushing the 300-lb mark.

A stressful beginning to 2011

Friday, January 07, 2011

Hi everyone and happy new year emoticon I'm posting this blog not meaning to sound like Miss Debbie Downer, but within a 3-month time (from November to the present), I have had very major situations happen. First, my brother was rushed to the hospital for a blood clot in his leg. It could've been life-threatening, but thankfully it was caught in time and he has since been taking blood thinning meds. Then just not 3 weeks later, my sister was experiencing chest pains, went to the Dr's, had an echocardiogram and it was discovered that she has a problem with one of the heart valves (she's doing ok, and was given meds also). And now at the present time, my father was rushed to the hospital. He was getting his car serviced and collapsed. He was in the hospital since Tuesday getting a transfusion and given oxygen. They are running tests, they don't know the cause. In the meantime, out of severe stress, I have been over-eating and gained about 5 pounds. I don't want to have any set-backs weight-wise. I need support from sparkpeople and need it bad. Thanks!!

Challenging life situations are just that. So sorry you've had them back to back as it is such a challenge to stay on the straight and narrow. Take one day at a time, try to get some exercise in, even if it is only going for a walk. Walking helps clear the mind and put things into perspective. You are in my prayers! Hang in there! You can do this and be all the stronger for it! emoticon

Hope everything starts to get better for you. Blessings on you and your family. I know the thing about eating while under stress. My husband ended up in ER on the 2nd and had an appendicitis attack and had to have surgery to remove the appendix. I was up for 48 hrs. I over ate to keep my energy up.
And I have to agree with DDOORN, you are not a Debbie Downer. WE all have problems emoticon emoticonTeri

Well, you have some "company" as my winter has been very difficult also...not for any dramatic reasons that could compare to YOURS, but have been clawing my way back into the saddle. I found it tough to share my wallowing...so I waited until I pulled out until I shared. Catch up with my latest 2 blogs if you need a dose of motivation! :-)

Great to hear from you ALWAYS...never worry about being a Debbie Downer! (I know, I should talk...did the SAME THING myself...lol!)

Busy playing "catch up"

Sunday, September 19, 2010

Well, here I am, back safe and sound emoticon It's good to be home and it was great to see my family! I was catching up on housework a little, then catching up on paper work as well as notes from business meetings. Today's Sunday and now I will catch up with my exercise routines. Speaking of.............when we were all in Atlantic City, my sister, son, and I spent most of our time walking the boardwalk, the weather couldn't have been any more perfect! And it kept my weight in check. I won't lie, I fell off the wagon with eating alot of the wrong foods and now I am back on track. After having breakfast (bran flakes, low fat milk, and a peach), I will go and take advantage of this beautiful weather and take a morning walk emoticon

I will be back in one week from today

Wednesday, September 08, 2010

My son and I are going to visit my dad, stepmom, and sister. Both parents are not in great health, this visit is important to us, wish us godspeed. But it's not all "doom and gloom". We are all being treated to a 3-day trip to Atlantic City! The boardwalk is where we will be spending most of our time (NO gambling LOL) and that will enable me to get in alot of walking emoticon And we will also utilize the hotel swimming pool (my favorite form of exercise)
See you all next week! emoticon
