Getting ready for Earl "just in case".

Wednesday, September 01, 2010

Today is Wednesday and that hurricane is supposed to graze our area. We got 2 cases of bottled water, some canned goods (veggies and fruits), and of course batteries. In case the electricity goes, we have a gas stove and our backyard grill. For those reading this who live on the east coast, be safe.

A few of my favorite tunes I work out to at home

Monday, August 30, 2010

For the days that I just can't make the time to go to the gym, I dance around to these tunes (I posted a few of many) while doing housework.

Today's music is a very happy, inspiring sound!

I tried a new and fun activity!

Sunday, August 29, 2010

My husband and I went to the ocean front in Virginia Beach today for "us" time. We brought the cooler with cantaloupe, watermelon, bottled water, and the beach umbrella. We ventured into the water and got to talking to someone who's daughter was boogie boarding. I told her that it looked like fun. She asked if I wanted to try it! I was reluctant at first, I never tried it before, but I was finally persuaded. There were a lot of waves today, courtesy of the developing systems of Danielle and Earl (NOT dangerous riptides to reassure you), it was perfect. All I can say is this: FUN, FUN FUN! And quite a workout too! Now I know what I want for my birthday! A boogie board! Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks!

I love it! I have friends that do it and rave about how fun it is. Our beaches here are wet and rainy now, but I would love to try when we get another summer.
That's so cool that you enjoyed it so much, great work out too!

I thought this happens only in cartoons!

Sunday, August 22, 2010

LOL! Talk about being in a virtual cartoon or sit-com! On Saturday, when I was working, I decided to take the company van to the car wash to spiffy it up (it's white and gets dirty easily). It was a beautiful, sunny day, and cooler temperature-wise and I decided to open the windows to get fresh air. Ok, I drive in the car wash, put the windows up, the soap suds sprayer moves, and-----GASP!!!!! AAHHHH!!!! The next thing I know, it comes flying in the PASSENGER window that I forgot to close!! Imagine my astonished shock and suprise to get suds on the seat, my clipboard, and all along the right side of ME! Of course I quickly closed that window before the rinse jets came! I arrive at my destiny, get out and scrape the suds off of me and everything else the best I could, I didn't have any paper towels. I just used a plastic bag, what else could I do. I went in the unit, told a nurse what happened, and we had a huge belly laugh for about 5 minutes LOL! Since I had a good laugh, I am feeling MUCH better and things are in their proper prospective. Well, spark friends, you just read about my "soap" opera experience----couldn't resist adding that! emoticon

Great that you could take this in stride and not allow such a thing to ruin your day...which I could EASILY imagine someone doing!

I love it! I am glad I am not the only person who does silly stuff like that.
Thank you for sharing, I needed the laugh.
I have told myself that I am here on this earth to entertain others...

I've had (and still have) alot going on......

Friday, August 20, 2010

Hi sparkfriends! It's been about a month or so since I've been here. I wanted to touch base to let you know that I have been dealing with not only my father's illness (Parkinson's) but my step mom is now getting treatment for a malignancy, which thank the good Lord, was caught in time. In a few weeks, I will be taking another trip to see them (almost 300 miles). I FINALLY got some much needed rest, I slept 10 + hours last night, took the rest of this week off from both jobs, and spent some time with my church friends for prayer and support. I sort of fell off the wagon with eating right, but gained only one pound. But I don't want it to turn into 2 pounds, then 3, etc. This blog is my first step in getting back on track. I'm having fresh cantaloupe for breakfast along with sugar-free cereal and skim milk, then this afternoon, I am going to the pool for exercise (my favorite). It's great to be back here, I missed everyone!

Good for you to nail some serious sleep! That's something I'm always struggling to do...never enough hours in the day!

Great to see you back can be SO TOUGH to support our loved ones when such chronic and serious problems arise...!

    God bless You.

In all your taking care - please take time to care of yourself!

You can help no one if you get down and out.

My son told me two days before my most recent stroke, "mom you've got to choose rest by choice or by chance."

Now I know what he meant. I didn't choose to rest now I feel lucky to have the chance - no option now - to rest for my health's sake.

Be blessed. Jazz emoticon
