February is almost over!

I am so happy that February is almost over. I've been walking every day that it doesn't rain or snow. This Winter has been really difficult with all the snow. I live in the North East and found myself indoors more than ever. In only 5 weeks, I gained 5 lbs. but I enjoyed all the cooking and baking and of course, the eating.

Well, now that I'm back to walking, I will try again. Within just 1 week of walking and eating better, I lost 2 lbs. I want to lose 10 lbs and reduce my cholesterol so I feel encouraged now that we're getting closer to better weather.

I know we might still have some snow but we are getting closer to Spring! emoticon

After several attempts, I finally reached my Weight Watchers goal on July 26, 2010. I need to be confronted with the scale every week and the company that I work for has brought Weight Watchers to work. Now, I really don't have too many excuses to miss meetings (and weigh-ins).

SparkPeople really helped tremendously and I urge everyone to get on the scale every Monday and weigh in with someone. It helps me to really watch my portion sizes on the weekend. I can still weigh in but now I don't have to pay for meetings as long as I stay within 2 lbs of my goal weight. They say that people who attend meetings on Monday or Tuesday are the most successful losers.

My Sparks Goal is 4 lbs less than I am right now, which can work with Weight Watchers since I'm at the high end of the weight range for my height and weight. OK - I really wanted to talk about this since it has made me really happy and now I just have to come up with a way to celebrate (without food).

I believe the WW meetings and Sparks will help me to lose a little more and also maintain the loss.

One more thing, I added a little jogging to my daily walk and I'm able to add more and more each day. Well, I guess I could save that for another blog. Talk with you soon. Joanne

I set a goal to make my 5% weight loss by end of January. So at my January 23rd WW meeting I weighed in and had reached a total of 7 lbs lost. emoticon

I'd like to reach my 10% by end of March 2010; then my final goal by end of June 2010;
I found that if I write it down, I try harder to stick to it; the logging into Sparks daily and tracking my nutrition and fitness really help too. emoticon

    I find that keeping a log on both nutrition and fitness is the main motivator.

Today is Friday and I've had a really good week. I planned my food and exercise every day and stuck to the plan. Tomorrow I'll weigh in at Weight Watchers and see how I did. That's not my worry. My worry is Sunday when I visit my Mom. She is preparing home made manicotti and eggplant parmesan for dinner.

I know I should be able to handle this - I prepared a list of what I would eat for the day and if I stick to the plan - it should be great. I'm going to have very small portions for the manicotti and the eggplant and a really big salad. The rest of the day I'll eat light. Now - all I have to do is stick to the plan. emoticon

    I want to go to your mom's too - sounds yummy! Great plan to have a huge salad and still be able to have a small portion of the main dish. Enjoy!

  Use your 35 weekly points if need be. You weigh in tomorrow, so your weekly points start again. Perhaps you also earn some activity points before dinner? Your off to a great start because your planning already for the meal.

Slow but Steady

Right after Thanksgiving I started over again. I went back to my WW meetings and I started logging into Sparks every day that I could. I've only lost about 5.8 lbs and the last 3 weeks have been really slow. However, I have to remember that even if I lose less than 1 lb per week, at least I am still losing.

I never realized how much I was eating until I started doing the tracking properly. Sometimes I would plan but then the plan changed and now I go back and change it in the Nutrition tracker to see the correct results. I do the daily differential too.

I was sick with cold the last 2 weeks and not doing as much exercise - so hopefully soon I'll be back on track.

    You also have to remember that you DID NOT GAIN over Christmas or New Years either! Look at it this have LOST 6lbs since Thanksgiving. If you had not been sparking or doing WW, you may have been up another 5 - 10lbs after the holidays were over and done with. So I would take that 6lbs and use it as motivation that you are doing well and will continue to do well!!! emoticon
