I'm meeting with my health coach next Friday. I have good, manageable goals, so he sent me to SP and we agreed to touch base in four weeks. I was really dedicated to logging everything the first week. The second week, I managed to log exercise, but just jotted food down in a notebook. This week is even worse. I didn't exercise Sat, Mon, Tues, or Wed!
I woke up, fed the cat, and cycled for a half an hour this morning. I'll do my hour power walk tonight. I really want to meet my weight goal next Friday.

I would love to get it together, but I'm not there yet. I did really well, then no exercise or tracking for three days. I'm maintaining, but I can't stay here!
Back to basics...figure out what I'm eating for the day and pedal like there's no tomorrow!

I subscribed to a health coach at the end of January. It's not earth shattering guidance he's providing. Just reminders, motivation, and goal setting. I think we last spoke on February 25. He referred me to Sparkpeople and I immediately checked it out. I had been using Fitday.com, though sporadically. We agreed to meet in four weeks, giving me time to really crack down on the exercise and do my best with the calories. If I stick to the exercise and don't see good results when we next meet, I'll know I really need to focus on the food. So far so good, I'm down 5 lbs. in the first week. I'm not shocked that it's over my 1-2 lb/week goal. I have a lot to lose. The exercise really is impacting my metabolism. I'm still tired a lot, but I'm feeling better and stronger each day.
Even though I haven't had time to enter food daily online, I have been keeping track on paper. My goal is to make the online tracking as simple as possible. The Spark site is a little overwhelming. A person could spend more time on the site than getting out there and moving! So, if I ever have a few spare minutes, I need to get some faves entered in the food tracker. I already added my two workout routines to the fitness tracker.
I mentioned going off the rails on Friday. Well, I went grocery shopping and made sure I filled the cart with some produce. Baby steps and consistency. That's my plan for change!

I missed working out for two days in a row. The first was a planned day. Yesterday was not. In addition to not working out, I also made some horrible food choices. I had a huge breakfast, so I just had a banana for lunch (ok, that was a good recovery). Then dinner came around...evil last meal of the day that gets me every time!
We bought these little appetizer meatballs and simmer them in spaghetti sauce for meatball subs. Well, I made dinner, so as the meatballs got done, I kept taste testing them. Egads, I know how many calories and fat grams are packed in there! But I just kept popping them.
At dinner, I made a sub, then I added a few more meatballs to my plate. It really was off the rails.
After dinner, I went out to visit my daughter at her new place. When I came back home I had two mini ice cream sandwiches...probably about an hour apart. They're only worth 100K a piece, but I already ate way too much! Plus, I was trying really hard not to eat after dinner..unless it's a fruit or veg. Now I need to add all that crap into the tracker.
Today's a new day, right? I have a full glass of water and a banana in front of me. I'm going to plan ahead for today's food. I'm also going to put left overs away before I sit down to eat. That way, I can think twice about going back for seconds.
When I finish work, I'll do my hour workout. I bought a Leslie Sansone walking workout DVD a few weeks ago. It's a pretty decent 4 mile workout.

Immediately after posting my first blog entry yesterday, I had Sparkmail from one of my Sparkteam leaders wondering if I wouldn't consider making my page public. How timely, since the entry was about the private status of my page!
Thank you, Vicki for the warm welcome and words of encouragement. I'm going public!
