Getting Back on Track

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

Honestly, it didn't take long to get off track. I was doing well with my gut (I have diverticulosis that gets flared up sometimes). I had a huge binge (who didn't) on Thanksgiving weekend and then immediately changed my diet to the Live Fit plan. Not good. My gut immediate got inflamed and I have had 3 weeks of misery. Its been 2 1/2 weeks since I took my butt to the gym. After loads of rest, a bland diet, and meds I am starting to feel better today and I am so ready to get back on my exercise plan. I don't know if I am planning to follow the Live Fit plan but I do plan to focus on weight lifting in addition to burning calories. I was starting to feel so strong. On a lighter note, my family has decided to alter our Christmas meal and have a traditional meat and potatoes dinner instead of all the casserole we load up on. I am so happy for the change and hope it will keep me from another month of troubles.

Sorry to hear about the diverticulosis:( I know how painful and draining on the body that is. Glad to hear you enjoyed lifting. Can't wait to hear about the new plan. I had to stop my 2nd round of LiveFit for awhile. Life has been crazy and I am not able to give it 100% at this time.
Have a wonderful Christmas! Yay for traditional!!!

Live Fit Diet - bites the dust

Wednesday, December 05, 2012

I thought I was gonna be able to eat this plan but its killing me. I blew up like I was 40 months pregnant and my diverticulosis got all inflamed and I have been in pain for 2 weeks. I tried to stick with it and let my body adjust but its just not going to. Thus, I am going to return to eating my beans, salad, rice, chicken regimin that I was on to get my gut back in order. I am going to stay in the group and continue to do the workouts. I am already starting to see definition in my legs and shoulders. Hooray for that!

It is what it is.....

I had to modify because of allergies and intestinal issues. I continue to play with things to find the perfect balance for my body. Some things that caused issues in the first round are not a problem now. Because of the food allergies I have always had to tweak stuff. Keep listening to your body. Some days I need more carbs, some days I need more fat or protein...even trying out different foods within each group. You know your body best:)

Woohoo on seeing definition!!!

Lots of people have had to adapt the diet. Just sticking to clean and lean is the important thing, no the exacts of what she says each meal. Do check out the calorie range when you get to week 6 or 7....
You're doing great-- keep up ith the workouts and you will rock!

Live Fit - Day 4

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

Well I have to tell 3 was a struggle. I think its my body response to the eating plan. All day I felt like I had a foggy brain. I couldn't concentrate on my work and I was less motivated because my energy level got lower as the day went on. Oh and I was kind of crabby. I did well on the eating plan until the end of the day and then I had a bunch of carbs. I am not going to feel guilty about over eating those carbs. I am not going to beat myself up. At that moment, my body was telling me to eat and I could have made a better choice but I wanted them.

Today is a new day and its back on the plan. Maybe I will be over that hump and not struggle so hard with the foggy brain today since I have a bunch of work to do. I used yesterday as my rest day since I was so out of it. I will be pumping some iron tonight. :)

Some exciting non-workout news is that my husband got an interview for an IT Director at military academy. He is so excited. His job is ending in February after 8 years and he just finished his IT degree and is ready to join that field. I am so happy for him. I hope he gets the job!

Good thoughts going out to you and your husband on the job!

On the diet front. One thing that worked for me and I continue to do is have a little protein snack later. I found that it helped me. I was having crazy cravings without it and I would want a mad amount of carbs if I didn't have a little something. The first week can be a little tough as your body adjusts. Listen to it and maybe add a little bit more. Another thing I found was since I couldn't take the fish oil (first round) that I wasn't getting enough fats in. Felt a whole lot better when I added a little more. Sometimes I have an extra protein shake if I am feeling low. Hang in there. You're doing great!!!

Live Fit - Day 3

Tuesday, November 27, 2012

Day 2 went into the books and now I begin Day 3. I feel like I am doing pretty good with the eating plan except my tummy is not happy with all this protein. I have been going to Body Pump classes at least 1 time per week for the past 2 months. I feel like I am starting to see some definition in my arms and shoulders and this does make me feel good. I can tell I am building muscle in my thighs under all that flab. But, the flab isn't starting to burn and my pant legs are getting tighter. This is not such a good thing since my thighs not really fitting into my size 14 pants is what got me started on this trend to get healthy and look good. Thus, I have resorted to wearing skirts and dresses to work. I am going to stick with the plan and I can't wait to get to phase 2 and start burning some of the fat.

So proud of me for attending 2 BP classes in a row. I can tell that I am on my way to getting fit. I did something to injure my left knee on Sunday so I wasn't able to complete the last 20 minute of class because I didn't want to risk further injury doing lunges. Back again tonight. My husband is also starting to attend BP classes twice a week. He got jealous when I started going to the gym and cited that if I get to looking "too good" I might leave him. This is hilarious to me since I was about 30 pounds lighter when we married and he was about 90 pounds heavier (before weight loss surgery). I mean after 10 years who would want to break in a new husband. Seriously! :)

I am looking forward to the day and I think I am starting to get some energy back after it left me when I ate an entire table worth of food on Thanksgiving. I WILL NOT ever do the holiday binge again. I went from awesome amounts of energy to just let me lay down and die energy levels.

My knees always hurt when I do lunges. I don't think they are really that good to do. If I'm following somebody else like in a video I just do squats during the lunges parts.

Great start! I laughed after your comment about breaking in a new husband! Seriously!

Just keep at it and diet and workouts get easier. Highly recommend the flaxseed or fish oil to even out the protein. I still never made it up to 2 meals of 5 egg whites-- even during the hungry weeks (7 and 8). Everyone is different, its okay to adjust to what yours needs.

Keep it up!

You are doing great! Your body will adjust. The swell and tummy issue gets better. I eased myself into the diet. Keep drinking your water. It really does help. WTG on those workouts and hitting Day 3. As for that holiday binge, it is behind ya now. I love how when we do have our little binges, we now know how much better we feel when we eat cleaner and in moderation. Although at the beginning of LiveFit you feel like you are eating beyond moderation! LOL It's a lot of food. Oh, and how wonderful you get to workout with your honey:) My boyfriend announced he needs to start!!! That is after his birthday tomorrow. He wants his cake:)

Let's Pump Some Iron

Monday, November 26, 2012

Ok, well the truth is I am just sick and tired of being sick and tired all the time. My youngest child has autism and is very very busy. I need the energy to keep up with him. So we joined a gym and I have been taking Body Pump classes. I love Body Pump! But, it makes me realize that I have had a lifetime of sitting on the couch watching tv. I want to feel good. I want to feel happy. I want to keep up with my child without feeling overwhelmed. So far, no weight loss. I found Jamie Eason's eating plan yesterday and I am on day 2 of eating every minute of the day. Yesterday, I had 155 grams of protein. I know I am building muscle but it doesn't make you feel very good to put on clothes and feel bloated or like you are gaining weight. Going to work through it and stay on the plan. Health and I come.

Thank you DrewBimon! I was wondering why I ran to the potty so much yesterday. I do feel less bloated today. Thanks for the support all.

The initial bloating feeling is water weight from the shock you gave your body of pushing it. You will know when it is starting to going away when you start urinating more than usual. I'm at the same stage right now day 2 to be exact. I'm super sore from day 1 and will probably be sore from day 2 tomorrow. Pressing on!

K-GETTING-FIT 11/26/2012 6:57PM

YAY! You can do this. That initial bloat feeling will pass. The food takes a little adjusting. It's a beautiful thing to really be able to eat a volume of healthy foods:) The strength will come to, along with the lovely delayed onset muscle soreness:) It is surprising how much that strength will carry over into other activities. I remember the first time I did a day of yard work, or did incline work on the treadmill, after having done LiveFit for a bit. I felt powerful and didn't have that "I can't move or get through this" the next day:)

Go get 'em Sandy!!!
