Update. And pictures of my beautiful holiday so far!

Thursday, December 22, 2011

I haven't lost much weight. Stil 156. Still taking diet pills. My back has not been great. I am still in physical therapy, and the exercise I am doing is making me hurt worse for now. It should start getting better soon. The exercise I do: laying on my stomach doing slow slow press ups. Toes facing in. I breathe in when I am going up, and let my stomach all the way out, and breathe out going down. In yoga it is similar to the Cobra, or Upward Dog position. I do two sets of ten six times a day!

Since I have been in pain, and since I met my deductible for the year, I went in for some steroid injections today. Hope they help!

Chester hates his Santa suit, but he's oh so cute!

We made a gingerbread house!

Mulligan's favorite hideout; under the tree!

My babies! Sheeba, Mulligan, and Chester

And dreams of sugarplum mice danced in his head.

Brightest blessings for a beautiful holiday, my Spark Friends.

Oh my goodness, what adorable fur-babies - Chester must be very good natured, even though I can imagine he doesn't like his santa suit much! There's no way I could even get one on any of my cats, let alone entice them to stay still long enough for a picture, haha! Have a great holiday!!

Steroid Injections

Friday, November 04, 2011

I had a procedure for my back yesterday. It is called facet joint rhizotomy. They burned the nerves to the facet joints on my lower back. Also they injected me with steroids, so I am pretty pain free today. But the steroids usually make me really hungry! And gain weight.

I was up to 160.2 today, but am going to be really careful not to overeat!

Hi Sandy, I hate that you have to go through this. But you seem to have it under control, knowing how to work with whatever your circumstances are is a wonderful thing, the main thing is that you are not in any pain.

Stay focused on your goal, emoticon emoticon I am rooting for you! emoticon

Oh my goodness, that does not sound like much fun! I had steroid injections many years ago and I gained a ton of weight afterward, which unfortunately has stuck with me! I wish you the best of luck dealing with the hunger and sorry you had to go through this!

My daughter has had a kidney transplant. She has to take steroids every day. She has lost 30 pounds. I know how hungry she gets. Hang in there.

20 pounds gone!

Sunday, October 30, 2011

I started on June 29th at 176.4. With the help of phentermine I am now 156.8!

I had to take 2 weeks off the diet pills because the pills stopped working.

What I am doing to lose weight:
Carbs in the morning. Whole grain like oatmeal, and honey. A lot of meat. Steak, grilled chicken breast, or fish. Eggs. I try to not eat carbs except fresh or cooked vegetables in the afternoon and night. That's it! I am never hungry. I am not drinking as much wine as I was before!! I have wine maybe once or twice a week.

Yep, that's the Hearst Castle!! So far my heart has been okay. I see the doctor about 4 times a year.

When I first started taking Phentermine, my heart raced for a couple of days and I couldn't sleep. After that I was fine.

Sounds like a very sound Atkins-Mediterranean hybrid. Neat.
Not so sure about the phentermine, though. How are your heart valves doing? Got an EKG lately?
(Is that Hearst Castle in the background?)

Gotta vent!

Sunday, August 21, 2011

Urgh! I am so mad. I have a garden plot at our community college. There is a fence around it but it is not locked. In mid-July, just as the vegetables were ripening, people started stealing them.

I put up signs saying "Please do not steal, we worked hard on these gardens, Thank you". For two glorious weeks, I have been able to pick my tomatoes and cucumbers. I was at the garden Friday and left about 15 tomatoes on the vines that were just about ripe. I came back today to pick them, and every one of my tomatoes were gone.

I am so angry about this! I wish I had a yard so I could have my own garden. I am heartbroken :(

I would be upset if someone stole my tomatoes although I would happily share with them if they asked for some. I hope the rest of your garden is untouched. You can pick them a few days before they are fully ripe and bring them inside to finish ripening. Good luck!

Sorry Sandy emoticon. I agree that tomatoes do grow well in containers. Do you have a backyard, porch, or balcony where you can set some half barrels? We would get the half barrel containers and plant tomatoes in them. Each barrel can hold two plants.
I am sorry someone stole them and like others, I hope it was someone that was desperately in need of food.

I'm so sorry to hear about it - wish you were closer to me and could pick some of my tomatoes! I got carried away and planted too many bushes, now we are 'drowning' in tomatoes - nice problem to have, haha! By the way, I have 'almost' no yard and have planted in containers - tomatoes in particular seem to do very well in a large pot on the patio so you might want to give it a try for next year.

In the meantime, see if the CC will consider putting a combination lock on the gate - it won't keep everyone out but it might at least slow them down!

I am so sad to hear that! If my yard was fenced in I would offer it to you. This is so terrible & it should be punishable by law. I mean you have laboured & toiled with love & to have have someone steal what you held nurture its a crime! I mean this is too crazy but people have no manners or home training to know not to do this. Maybe you should put the sign up in different languages but "no" means exactly that in every language.

God bless!

So sorry Sandy, that you lost all of your tomatoes.
I feel that when something is stolen from you,
that it is a anger that is very hard to let go. To
think someone would enter after reading the
sign, is heartbreaking. Hopefully, it was someone
who was hungry and did not have money to pay
for food. Even locks don't keep out thieves these
days. Look at all the house break ins!!

Oh, I am so sorry, Sandy. That is awful. We've had robbers in our garden, too, and they have stolen all the green beans, and all of the peas. Only our thieves are rabbits. I have grown to hate rabbits! I'm sorry that people who should have consciences have taken your hard-worked for fruit. emoticon

Report Inappropriate Comment

So, what's the difference between stealing someone's tomatoes and stealing someone's car or bank account? Just the degree! This person could have put work into having their own plot in the communal garden, but chose the easy way out.

I know there's not much you can do about the theft except let other people know there are thieves around. Is there any way the individual plots can be locked? We shouldn't have to post armed guards with shotguns to protect a few vegetables.

Although we have land, the climate is too dry and windy for most plants to thrive. We have three tomato plants hanging in Topsy-Turvies in the living room, and plan on putting bell peppers and banana peppers in as well next year. Hubby uses an artist's paintbrush to tickle the blossoms and pollinate them.

I know part of the joy of gardening is working outdoors and spending time with other gardeners. Unfortunately, it only takes a few people with an "entitlement mentality" to spoil things. Grrr!

Now, take a deep breath, let it out slowly, and ask that the Universe visit Justice on the thieves. Okay, I'm old and crotchety, and much less forgiving than I used to be.

Im realy sorry. People can be selfish and rude. If they wanted tomato they should have done what u did and planted some. The person that did this might not get caught but they will have to answer to this someday. emoticon

They are only tomatoes. Just pretend that a homeless person who was starving picked your tomatoes. May not be true, but nonetheless, it could be.
