month 3 of chalene extreme has begun

Man this month is going to be killer. I have done 2 days of the lean phase and I can tell you she really does kick it into high gear this month. I am glad in a way because this month seems to focus more on core and God knows that is where I need it most after two babies. My legs are really showing muscle now and I feel so much stronger. My middle is still soft so I hope this month changes some of that. After this month I will be doing the hybrid CX and Turbofire...looking forward to it.

calories burned vs calories consumed

I went all out and purchased a heart rate monitor so that I could track how many calories I burn per workout. Turns out it is more than I thought. Well I got curious to see how many calories I burn in a day... I was very surprised to see that so far today my body has burned 1900 calories. I was a little worried because Have eaten about 1200 today and my day isn't close to over but knowing I have burned much more than that makes me feel a whole lot better. I wonder if I should allow myself to eat up to -500 of what I have burned off or if I should stick to the 1200.

    I like to look at my daily and weekly calorie differential reports, and compare them to what it going on with my weight. I am very careful to track accurately, so that helps me know if I can afford to add more to my calorie goal or not.

    It's personal to you. If you are losing and not starving on the 1200 calories, don't mess with a good thing. However, if you are exercising regularly throughout the week, I would be very concerned about slowing your metabolism with 1200. When the metabolism slows, the cravings go through the roof and you stop losing weight.

If you are exercising, make sure to put your minutes and calories burned in your Fitness Goals. This might adjust your calorie range.

time to dust myself off and start again

this past weekend I missed 3 workouts and didn't eat as well as I should. I had a family staying with me while they visited and it threw everything off... BUT I'M BACK and fired up to see how far I can get with month 3 of Chalene Extreme. Turbofire came in over the weekend and it looks scary. I intend to do a hybrid of both after this next month. I'm going to be looking HOT in no time as long as I don't give up.

this set back won't break me

I was so excited to have lost 20 and decided to take some pictures to compare to the last time I lost weight. I guess I shouldn't have done that because I realized I look about the same as I did last time... I guess I expected to see more progress. I allowed that to get me down and gained about 5 lbs. I am home with the boys for almost 2 more weeks which means I better start planning better or I will gain 10 more before the end of the year. But I'm UP THIS WILL NOT BREAK ME. Time to stop the self pitty and get back on the horse that knocked me down. I guess the only thing that makes me feel a little better is that I have only missed one workout. So now back to eating clean and tracking.

    CATHGREEN8 has an excellent point! Don't undervalue your loss. You have the tools to drop that 5 and keep dropping. Tracking will help you get back into good habits. Plus, aren't you EXCITED about the next phase of ChaLean?! You can do this. When that negative voice starts talking in the back of your mind, tell her, "Shut up! You're not the boss of me anymore."

    Next time you are at the store, pick up a twnety pound frozen turkey and carry it around the store. Then put it back. Twenty may not look like a lot, but it truly is. keep sparking!

I have lost the first 20 and now I will concentrate on the next 5... I still have 30 to go but I refuse to think of it that way... once I get 5 more down I will be excited to be half way there but until then I will concentrate on losing just 5.
