That is precisely why I didn't sign up for it at all. But I do hope with you that you get some lasting benefit!

Ok, so I didn't make the 5k

Saturday, November 12, 2011

I was not able to train for the 5k because of my back pain. I was very disappointed and embarrassed. But Oh Well! I look toward the future, not the past. God has been working on me to stay focused on creating a great future with my new husband, who also is following Jesus! I am so happy about our relationship! I have decided that I am going to focus now on getting my diabetes under control. My last A1c was 7.4! :( That's the highest it has ever been since I was diagnosed in '97. So that is my focus. I am going to test more, track food more, and exercise more! Today I walked .95 miles with bearable pain in my back~VERY encouraging! I'll try to blog more often so you can all see how my journey is going.

Walking is definitely gentler on the body than running! I wish you good luck with getting your diabetes more under control!

Today I signed up for the 5 week walking training for a 5K. And I signed up for the virtual Trick or Treat 5K on Spark People! I did my first training today, too. I am going to do my very best with God's help and your encouragement to achieve this goal. Prayers for my perseverance are very welcome!

My New Motivation

Wednesday, August 24, 2011

As some of you know, I am a Christian. Last Sunday in church I had a breakthrough revelation! Nothing has ever been enough motivation for me to stick with an eating and exercise plan so far. Not my diabetes, children or grandchildren, appearance, feeling fat, general health or anything else. But Sunday it hit me: God wants me to lose weight! Not just for any of the above reasons, but because HE wants me to be strong and able to move so that I can do the things HE wants me to do! I have felt for a very long time that God had plans for me that I have never felt strong or energetic enough to follow. I want to serve Him, and I am determined to get in shape to do it! (PLEASE don't misunderstand me. I completely believe that God can use us no matter what our physical limitations are. I just feel that for ME, He wants me to be physically strong.)

I had a revelation sort of like that! You know how when people are around we're on our best behavior (eating a little less, less lazy). But then God showed me even when those people aren't around, He still is, watching me. So I shouldn't care more about what those people see me do, and focus on what I'm showing God. Because to me He is all that matters.

Yes, He does want you to be physically strong -- both for you to be better able to serve Him in the ways that He leads you, but also for you and better health. He loves you very much!
