Fear of Commitment or Fear of failure?
I've attempted to lose weight in the past "gone on a Diet" and fallen flat on my face. Failure is painful, and I wanted to overcome my fears in order to succeed. Call the day a success if you drink 8 glasses of water. Be enthusiastic about it! Be fearless just for today and don't let fear or the scale kill your enthusiasm.

I've "Dieted" many times. Sometimes successfully sometimes not so successfully but it was never easy. SP isn't a 'diet'. If you can't commit whole heartedly to the healthy lifestyle right now that's okay. Commit to 8 glasses of water and logging on every day to search for motivation and inspiration. There is so much on the SP site. You can learn and lurk on the boards until you find just what you need. I am sure, you will find it on SP. Hang in there!

I agree, it is very important to think of it as a healthy lifestyle journey and not a diet. When I thought of my journey as a diet, I became discouraged. To me, diet is such a negative word. But when I think of it as a journey, I get excited about it; thinking about all the new knowledge I now possess, the control that I have and the doors it has opened for me. Perhaps it will help if you think of it as a journey......?

You can do it and remember this is a lifestyle change and NOT a diet, it takes time to cement new habits and food tracking is one of them.
Good luck, Annaliese

Sometimes it's hard to get started. My advice - don't think about it, just do it - Sorry, Nike. Didn't mean to steal your slogan but seriously that's what needs to happen. I'd dive in and just do what needs to be done. After the first week or two, you'll start to see results and become more motivated. Continue to use your blogs and message boards, they are a huge support.

That's what we're here for. - You can do this. emoticon

I too get really excited about my health projects, only to discard them when I'm not seeing results quickly enough. Something that helps me is creating a motivational collage when I need another kickstart or tracking something else besides my weight: (i.e. sit-ups added each night, miles added to walking schedule, inches lost in arms, legs, neck, waist, hips, etc.)

By keeping track of lots of different things, I keep myself from losing focus and getting bored.

Good luck and happy sparking!
