We're headed into another week of excessive heat warnings--temps up to 112 possible. It was 84 at 8 AM. Set a record today at 108.
I did get out and mow the front and side yards this morning before the temps got real high. Was out on the mower about 90 minutes sweating. I did wear a hat most of the time--I do not like hats--I cannot stand anything on my head. Also, I hung out a load of laundry this morning.
I got invited out to lunch with my daughter and son in law. We went to a buffet that has lots of veggies and a wonderful fruit bar. I ate my desert first--it was watermelon, cantaloupe. strawberries. and cucumbers with tomatoes. Then I ate from the food bar---couldn't finish my 1 plate--only ate half of it.
Do you use the new food plate as your guideline? The FDA has changed the food pyramid to a plate, it is fantastic and so easy to follow no matter what size plate you use. I did a lesson on this at TOPS. I took 8 inch foam plates, markers and stick on magnets and had everyone make a "plate" for their frig. They loved it. The plate is divided into 4 sections--those being fruit, veggie, grains, protein. Dairy is separate at the side of the plate. Just make sure to fill half of your plate with fruits and veggies, 1/4th with grains and 1/4 with protein. Your meal will be balanced. There is a web site explaining all this..I think it is myplate.gov. Spark People has a nice article about this change. The plate is much easier to understand than the pyramid was. Even youngsters can follow it.
Then I came home and took a nap---now here I am....hehehe
