Wonderful Thing Happened Today.....and also not so good, too

Thursday, October 04, 2012

An amazing thing happened today-----well not so amazing for God--amazing for me..

At our TOPS meetings, we have what is called a penny board, which is 99 pennies taped on different squares. If we choose to participate, we pull off a penny and pay that amount. We can buy as many as we wish. After all the pennies are sold, we have a drawing. Someone draws a number and whoever bought that number gets $25 and $25 goes into our general fund. I was helping with the board and told the other lady that if God chose to have my number drawn the money would go to my daughter. Well, they drew my number.....so now I have $25 to help my daughter, Valerie, with gas for school or what ever she needs......Praise and thanks to the Lord for granting this wish. This is the daughter on the prayer list who is dealing with a lot of family issues right now. So in your prayers please add a BIG thank you to God for allowing me to do this for Valerie.

Now for the not so good news....I was up 6/10 pound at weigh in this morning.

WHAT A GREAT IDEA! AND TO BE SO GENEROUS TO YOUR DAUGHTER TOO. WHAT A MOM! THEY HAVE T.O.P.S. GROUPS HERE TOO, BUT NONE CLOSE BY ME. HAVE YOU FOUND IT TO BE A HELP TO YOU? I BELONGED TO ONE IN WISCONSIN ABOUT A MILLION YEARS AGO AND LOVED IT - NOT JUST FOR THE WEIGHT LOSS, BUT I MADE SOME REALLY GOOD FRIENDS.

Love the good thing you are going to be able to do...

Our weight can vary as much as three pounds due to different issues...your 6/10 is disheartening, but not a deal breaker...sometimes when something like that happened to me one week, I would have a fantastic weigh in the next week...

I agree with Beltonwalker on the 6/10 lb. Or maybe it was all that money in your pocket. Glad you can help your daughter. God is good, isn't He?

I'm Sure God Gave Me A Brain--Maybe I should Try Using It

Monday, October 01, 2012

It would seem that since I woke up this morning for the first time in 7 days without a sinus/allergy headache so bad that I would be dizzy at times, that I would relax and enjoy the h.a free day.........NOT A CHANCE!! Just look at the jungle that is supposed to be my back yard.....I was out on the mower for over 3 hours. Not all at once, I did have sense enough to take breaks. OH and I did take an allergy pill before I started. So I guess Tarzan will have to find a new home.

I'm not sure if sitting on a John Deere mower for 3 hours is considered exercise however my yard used to be a pasture so it has more craters than the moon. I bumped, jiggled, and thumped for the entire 3 hours on that rough ground.

God did bless me with an amazing site..........2 very large hawks (at least I think they were hawks) were floating and diving right over my property for over an hour. I got to watch them fly, float, and frolic on the current. One stayed and the other one left. The one that stayed dipped and dove and floated for a good 45 minutes longer. A special show for an audience of one to watch.

Of course, I aggravated moths, grasshoppers, crickets, and many other bugs. I even scared a field mouse out of it's spot into another spot then back to the original spot.

Anyway, John Deere and I had a nice long afternoon together and so far only a teeny tiny bit of a headache.

If you can see the dark spot in the middle of the following picture it is the hawk...

For the past 2 years this mum has looked so spindly that I almost pulled it our........look at it this fall

My daughter has free range chickens so she has hawks, buzzards, and eagles coming by to check out the pickings. They are amazing to watch. The roosters have a special signal when the birds of prey are present.

I wish my mums had made it through the long, dry summer, but it is my fault for not taking care of them. I hope you post picture of the mums when they bloom! I would enjoy that.

What Size Dishes Are You Using????

Monday, September 24, 2012

You've probably heard or read this at least 200 time so maybe this time it will sink in...just what size plates, forks, spoons, cups, etc. are you using...

are you using a soup/cereal bowl for soups, cereals, fruit, etc?.......try using a sauce dish.....it holds one serving of cereal with enough room for a small amount of milk

are you using a soup cup or bowl with a handle........try using a coffee mug...automatically smaller servings

what about your plate? proper servings on a regular dinner plate look very small so try a salad plate or even a toddler plate with the sections on it....sure makes your servings look soooo much larger

eating with salad forks or even youth forks and spoons will have you taking smaller bites therefore making your meal last longer and filling you up more..

By using the much smaller plates, bowls, cups, and silver, your meal will look bigger and a lot of what we eat is because it LOOKS so small to us so we add more to fill the plate...then because we have the "clean your plate" syndrome we over eat.

In this way, you can easily set your self up to win at the losing game...and even if you takes a second helping, you are still eating less than with the full size dinnerware and silver..

If salad/desert plates are still too big, go down to the bread plates.

What do yu think? Is it worth a try?

I use the portion sizes that are listed in the food section.....smaller dishes make the smaller portions look bigger.......
